See wiith $120k u can get a house in the USA abi, but do u buy mikano, diesel, pay aboki, buy jeep cos of bad roads, and still sleep with one eyes open.

No comparison, ur $28k is far more meaningful in the USA than in naija.
Do you live in the USA?

100% correct. Things are "cheaper" in Nigeria - "cheaper" because although they cost less, your overall cost of living (because of providing everything for yourself) is higher. Also, like you said, houses cost upwards of $100k. The only reason a lot of people buy houses here is because the mortgage market works (at low rates, for very long tenors). So people have houses early in life but pay for it throughout their working life. That is the reason Americans get depressed during recession - many people can't pay their mortgage, etc. Wish we had a mortgage market in naija so people don't save till they are old before they can buy land.
You are very correct.....

But pls where in the US can I buy a 120k usd house I need one?

So I decided to do Tbills and I went to fcmb to open an account to that effect. my acct no was given to me dat day, but do to my acct official is a family friend n also acct official to my family members. she started telling me stories abt my plan to invest on tbill, dat she will not advice me to so. So I abandoned d acct and switched over to stanbic.
At stanbic it took me a week and just to get my account number dat I hv to visit d bank on two occasions to know why my acct number is not yet out. I don't know if is cos I told my account official my plan to invest on tbill with d account or just protocol.
I finally got d acct number. so when I submitted my offer to d lady at the customer care whom I use to complain to when I was trying to gt my acct number, she started being dis unprofessional friendly. To the extent d day I went to collect my certificate, she started telling me dat I must hv their app on my phone. When I gav her my phone to install d app, she took a shot with my phone and even mandated me not to delete the pic and dat she will check it the next time I visit d bank.
Just dis evening I received a call from the lady dt opened the account for me which is my account official asking me of how she can locate my house. Saying dat the people dy sent to verify my address couldn't located my house, I told her I don't understand dat I hv not heard of address verification from my other banks and dat I will visit d bank tomorrow for clarification. she too me is not necessary dat she will come by her self to do the verification and to forward my address to the head office.
Seriously am not understanding anymore is all dis really still part of the banking process or should I be concern and pls what should I do?
Banks do address verification these days, probably a new cbn policy. Stanbic CS at my branches are cool, friendly and professional even the HQ. grin
There was a time I was wrongly debited. I called their helpline and they promised to resolve it which they did in less than 24hrs. They still called me back to notify me. It was amazing.

For Stanbic IBTC address verification seem to be compulsory especially if that is your first account opening/ dealings with them. About 7-8 years ago when I opened my account with them, the lady that opened it followed me home straight for address verification.

So there is nothing new about it..Just taking the representative is to your door step should be enough except you want be a gentleman and invite him/her ...

Is CBN confused or what? I wonder why it difficult for CBN to release auction's result on their website in a timely manner.

Not very good areas obviously and small houses...mostly in the midwest (excluding Chicago), but like some parts of Detroit in Michigan, some parts of Iowa, etc.

That's not true, except you live in the ghetto. even if you live in the ghetto, in as much as you're not part of gang related stuffs, you will be fine. Nigeria is not just about only crime, it's a war zone as well.

Where is the war zone exactly?
So naija crimes have become war zone?
People that have not witnessed community clash, will be shouting war zone, war zone.

I still don't understand the word "cheaper" in Nigeria. Do u know that most of the things they sell in Nigeria are inferior things. Take for examples, you can get a phone of #3000 in Nigeria, but it is substandard phone. We don't have standard in Nigeria and that's why things tend to look as if they are cheaper in Nigeria. Have u been to state government owned hospital in Nigeria? They are cheap, but I don't think you would like to go there when you are sick. Why
would things be cheaper in nigeria? Do we produce any thing in this country? They import toothpick in this country. You can only get quantity in nigeria, but not quality. Your #28k dols have more value in USA than 9ja. I know with #10k you can live very fine in the village, but try using #10k in the city. Village life is cheap, but it doesn't offer u opportunities like good education, good roads, good water, good housing etc.

Trying to verify your address is normal. If not your account's functionality will be limited.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have lived in both countries and that is my opinion. There is a reason Nigerians living in the US come to naija to buy even weavon. Human hair you buy in the US for $300 costs lesd in naija. The US is good because you can live on borrowed money, most advanced countries are like that. But i stand with my opinion and know lots of Nigerians in the US with that same opinion. Many Nigerians living in Nigeria with okay jobs can save, here, it is very difficult to. I get that you provide everything for yourself in Nigeria, but even in the US, you pay for everything too.

Nowadays, it is mandatory for bank to visit your residential address while trying to open an account for you. But I'll advise you yo keep your relationship with the bank CS strictly professional before you run into trouble. I once experienced this with access, I became too nice with the boy at the CS desk. Once they know your worth, they get your attention by becoming hyper efficient, going extra mile to give you undue privilege (VIP) service, which I wasn't enjoying anyway. He requested for few assistance which I granted. He would later make it a habit, sending series of txt msg to solicit for cash transfers, the last was when he was calling me endlessly to assist him with 1yr rent. it was then I moved my money out of their bank.
