zamirikpo:So after buying the house in US for $120k and you now sleep with two eyes closed, no mikano, no diesel, no aboki and no need for jeep, you then send your kids to school and one small boy walks into the school one day and shoots indiscriminately and waste them or you go to the mall to buy sneakers and one angry man comes in and shoots indiscriminately or one olopa(cop) comes into your neighborhood and fires pointblank at you because he/she sees you standing by your window. Every society get him own problems and wahala. |

NL1960:Don't mind them. We are the ones giving ourselves bad publicity. My friend's cousin came to Nigeria with the believe that there is wahala everywhere. After staying 2 weeks without experiencing any violence; he was so surprised at how peaceful everywhere was. That was what changed his notion about Nigeria. In USA/UK that someone will just enter a school with guns and start shooting pupils, we don't see that. Nigeria is better in this because our law makes it difficult to own a gun. |

Has anyone been debited at GTBank? I have been debited but I am skeptical. It may be the secondary market and not primary. One because the rate is 12.4%, a little lower than what others from other banks said. Another reason is that it happened just this morning as against yesterday evening. They also charge a custody fee. I don't know if custody fee is charged on primary market investment. |

revelation2013:Guy you just spoke my mind. I was debited about an hour ago. (Which is rare) and what I'm seeing is about 12.3. |

Just wondering guys, when your Tbill mature and your capital is paid back into your account, in the process, are there any charges (e.g stamp duty) levied on the deposit by banks or directive from cbn? |

Yesterday, banks across the country were given a directive from the Central Bank of Nigeria to cancel any customer requests for purchase of Treasury Bills at Primary or OMO auctions, if such customers are borrowing customers of such banks or those of other banks. This also includes those enjoying CBN intervention loans. We are not certain what the CBN plans to achieve with this directive but we believe it may not be unrelated to the CBN's recent efforts to promote lending to the real sector by commercial banks. |

NL1960:Yes every society has its problem, but u r comparing a random , difficult to control issue with blatant incompetence. A mad man randomly shooting up a school is different from daily kidnapping, daily no light or no roads or evident insecurity. We see our wahala korokoro.....and do nothing to remedy it. When 9/11 happened the govt rose up and made sure it never happens again. Hope u see the conscious effort the us govt is putting to stop random killing.and u must appreciate the delicate and impossible nature of such crimes. Pls what is delicate abt fiixing roads, getting steady power supply, good schools and hospitals. Boko haram has a base, known territory and up till tomorrow they can not be stopped. Fulani herrdsmen are ravaging villages EVERYDAY, it's no random, I say EVERYDAY, and because the president is fulani, police cannot stop it once and for all. If u soo loved ur country why did u leave in the first place..... |

oluayebenz:bros as an unstable nation risk is higher like wise returns .....this is capitalism....risk and reward ......a 100k (36 mdollars house in Nigeria can can bring in 2.0m rents pay annum |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 12:18pm On Oct 19, 2019 |
ahiboilandgas:Exactly the point. People just keep asking absurd questions as if investing is an act of love or altruism. US bonds rate is less than 2%. Investing in unstable economies is about timing. Get in and get out at the right time, and you'll make great returns. Nothing to do with patriotism. |

zamirikpo:I did not leave Nigeria o. I have been living in Nigeria since i was born. Primary, secondary and University education was here and have been working here since then. Do not have any intention to leave to US as iam not comfortable with the stories iam reading about the place and also the way of life iam reading about. Moreover, the US or Canada or UK will never allow everybody in Nigeria to leave here and move over there. Some people must remain for here. Imagine 150m Nigerians moving to US or Canada or UK?. ![]() |
