ACURA TL VS INFINITI G35

Hello car people.. I'm stuck between 07 acura tl (face lifted) and the 07 infiniti g35 (2nd gen) my major concerns are performance and reliability - I'm still a student and this is going to be my first car - I am tilting a bit more to the infiniti cos of RWD (but I've never driven one[rwd] and dunno what the fuss is about) but can pick the TL in a heartbeat as i know hondas are no slouch either with dia precise steering albeit FWD traction. All said, the TL is more my price point (2m-2.5m) but if convinced on reliability i can stretch for a cheaper maybe higher mileage/9ja used G35

*I'd ppreciate comments from ppl who have driven both or own one and can really educate me on problems to look out for as well as strengths to applaud form their experience.*

Pricing and availability of parts and at the bottom of my peck: fuel economy (not expecting miracles from either v6) will be a major plus as once again I'm a student and should really be minimizing losses.. I'm a petrolhead and my 1st car just has to hit. I hope you guys can help ease my confusion and if possible suggest other budget car steals I might not have considered. Thanks in advance guys

The 07 G35 competes with the 4th gen TL (2009), not the 07 Acura.

07 TL is a fancy Accord for the most part. Get the Type S if you must get one, although those are getting a bit rare.

The G35 drives better, is considerably faster, and handles better. It's just a better car all-around.

The 09 TL with SH-AWD is what competes with the V36 G35/G37. The G is still the more driver-focused car but the TL looks better and is more luxurious. It's also a lot more expensive to own, though. That car parts dey cost die.

The G is awful with fuel. I buy 40k fuel every month and I don't drive more than ~1000 miles.
Don't buy a Nigerian used G. Unless you can get it properly inspected.

Gurus in the house, I wish to appreciate all of you for the immense contribution made to this thread so far.

Please I need to get a 'knock about' car that I plan on using for interstate 5-6 times a year.

I am looking at 2001 406 and 2001 Merc C180, both manual.

Which is better in terms of
Performance
Cost of maintenance
Reliability
Longevity
Driving Experience

Feel free to suggest any car that fit the purpose described.

Just get a W202 instead. Those early W203's are garbage.

Thanks for the response, is the W202 better in all parameters than the 406?

I want to know the pros and cons to make a decision.

Thanks

Acura overstretched the 3rd gen IMO, should have had a major design upgrade in 07.

When they eventually did that in 09 it was just rubbish.

Whatever it is Honda sees in that rear design you find in Crosstours, ZDX, 4th gen tl and Accord coupe is something I'll never understand.

I look at those things the way I look at Volvos cheesy

I'm actually a fan of that sloping roofline design. They can look weird from certain angles, though.

The Porsche Panamera is a particularly ugly example. I think GLE Coupe and BMW X6 look good, though.

like adviced, there isn't much the Ohio 258hp or 286hp type S can do that the Japanese built G35 VQ35HR 306hp won't make better.

Heck if you are even fortunate to jam a skyline RHD Japanese well converted one with 6speed manual transmission, that is a configuration feared by turbo charged and V8 powered sedan.

1) it's a 2000 Nissan which means tons of repairs and maintenance especially if

2) Nigerian used. Must likely crappy maintenance with wrong oil, engine and/or transmission replacement, KAZEEMIZATION, etc

3) you know nothing about cars. This is not where you want to start

That's almost same with the TL.
It runs on premium fuel and in the absence of premium fuel it guzzles fuel. I cover roughly 900 miles a month on the mdx (similar drive train with the TL). My mpg and that of a friend who drives the TL are same. So I assume our fuel expense within a month for same distance drive will be same.
That being said, the TL (shawd) looks better and handles better that than the g35.

The TL definitely doesn't handle as well as the G35. I believe the G has a 51/49 weight distribution, with a Viscous Limited Slip Differential. Also has a lower center of gravity.

Subaru parts are scarce in the market especially 21st century models.

if you can import parts from abroad I see no reason why you can't drive the vehicle. stick to the 06 and 07 model because of the Engine more popular less complicated
