A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation who was sacked from office, Babachir Lawal, has said Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress is in good standing to become the next president of Nigeria.

He said Tinubu possesses the qualities of a good modern President to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Babachir, who stated this in Yola, Adamawa State, in an interview with some select journalists, also supported power rotation to the South.

Nigeria is a funny place ooo. So what exactly has Tinubu done to deserve the presidency apart from using proxies to enrich himself. Everyone points to Lagos, what did he do in Lagos? He installed Fashola as the governor, yes Fashola did well for himself not because of Tinubu. Ambode and Sanwolu have shown that Fashola’s success had nothing to do with Tinubu. Why hasn’t he worked the same magic he did with Fashola if that was the case.

On the other he has constantly helped himself and family with choice positions and contracts in Lagos. His wife became a senator, his daughter became the iyaloja general, his company alphabeta collects revenue Lagos state is paid 10% of total amount collected, LLC collects tolls on very generous terms, hi tech does road construction jobs and the list goes on. Yet the same man is supposed to be ‘rewarded’ with a higher office due to his ‘humanitarian’ work in Nigeria? God help us all.

You see, this is where the problem always lies. The allegation now is that Tinubu ‘gave orders ‘ that Igbos should be beaten during elections. And so the news will spread and the Igbos will say God forbid that we support Tinubu, and then they go round the same circle of mere allegations and pettiness and forget how to play real national politics. The result will be that they sentimentally miscalculated, and lose out completely in the political calculations. Then someone begins to say ‘it is our turn.’ The truth is that there isn’t any room where politicians sit down and begin to allocate the seat of president. You have to work for it! Make your calculations wisely and stake your interest. And no political region can do it alone. Especially as it is important to have 1/3 votes of 2/3 of the states in Nigeria. Even the North with supposedly 19 states cannot go it alone.
