Everyone has a Different Timeline

I remember in my early days in UNIZIK I was frequently antsy to get somewhere. When will I finally graduate after my certificate was withheld for years in FCE(T) Umunze after NCE to starting afresh in UNIZIK (BSc) ? Get that dream job? When will I meet “the one”? Be where I want to be? To make matters worse, with this thing called social media, it’s real easy to feel like you are behind everyone else.

So and so got their Master’s degree! Eye roll.
So and so got promoted to Manager! Eye roll.
So and so got engaged! Eye roll.
Yes, this was me. And I know some of you probably have done this or currently do.

I’m going to tell you something from experience and it was something I did not understand until several years later. You are not going to accomplish everything in your life:

A) as you’ve always planned and
B) at the same pace as everyone around you.

I’ve always been a “planner”. I knew what career I wanted by the time I was 5 (and never changed my mind) and thought I’d reach certain milestones at specific points in my life. Reality ultimately smacked me hard in the face. That is just not how life works. None of it turned out as planned.

Years later, even when I found myself starting to get “somewhere”, I grew impatient. I was constantly seeking the next thing. Eventually, I was frustrated because I saw others getting things before me. This is the cold, hard truth: there is no defined timeline for success. Some people step into a company and grow exponentially in a seemingly short amount of time, while others…. Take a little longer. And that is 100% okay. Your value does not diminish just because you are not exactly where you want to be. Stop focusing on what others are doing and focus on YOU. What are you doing today, right now, to get to where you want to be? I can’t guarantee you when you will get somewhere, but I guarantee you will get somewhere if you keep persevering. Yes, there are a lot of unknowns in life… and when you will get the things you want is one of those unknowns. It’s all a part of the adventure of life. And take it from me, it is the unknowns along with years of hard work and sacrifice that will make you appreciate things so much more when you do have them.

You want to buy a penthouse in New York but all the people influencing you breathe in poverty and breathe out extreme poverty. Baba, migrate.

Goto Instagram and set your life on fire, you docile thing! Follow those who show off the most even if they are world renowned criminals.

Take the message and leave the messenger alone. Take what you need (the drive) and leave what you don't need (their means of getting the money). All you need is the drive. Imagine how you run when the adrenaline is high.

The pressure is the drive, the drive is the adrenaline of success. You won't even believe how you came up with that million dollar move

When I was a young man of about 18 and so, I keep dreaming of the splendid things of this life, thinking with all assurance that they were easy to get. I keep dreaming of having the most beautiful girl as my wife, I keep dreaming of driving the best car of time. I didn't understand the reality of life but I have everything in my dreams.

Dreams keep me rejecting substandard things as if I have the quality ones within reach. I was very confidential about my tomorrow that I fail to explore the means of achieving my dreams.

Yesterday keep deceiving me till I come to realized that I was waiting for did not wait for me (time). Realizing that time doesn't recognize my ambitions. I started running after time which was far away from me.

Today, I tried to reverse to yesterday so I can amend my mistake but it too late.

No choice left but to used the little available time to build life within my capacity.

Moral lesson.


Today kids are lucky to find social media that exposed the world to them. Make a great lesson from people mistake and take great advantage of people methods of success. Once you lost a moment of opportunity battle back for it while life is still young.


Tried not to regret tomorrow.

I know one day Nigerian police will stop collecting bribe.
