There you need a bit more enlightenment.
Here there is a question of legality, more than anything else.

In jurisdictions, the term “engineer” denotes a “professional.” Someone who has been certified to practice, as a lawyer or doctor would be.

Your line in bold is best ascribe ignorance, literally you can be called an engineer when you not certified, so long as you didn’t lead anyone to rely upon that assertion (as seen in op)

Certification of engineers typically applies in fields where human safety is at stake… So certification and licensing of structural, Mechanical and civil engineers is taken very seriously.
You still do not get it, you are talking from assumption.I do not need to be a certified Engineer to build a new machine and train more Engineers to maintain it.If you check from history the great inventors where never certified Engineers.
Now you did make some points that I found valid though. But I maintian the word you was looking for is Certified Engineer. The reason why you would need a certified Engineer would be Jobs that required certification, or for legal reasons. ie Insurance etc or government legislature..
I am a Uk certified Enginer,Im a fluid Engineer so I deal with Flued Mechanics.I carry out test and certification with major fleets on thier hydrolic systems. At teh end I put a sticker o n them to certify them legal to operate. Now if these Hydrolic systems goes faulty you do not need me to come fix it,the guys who fix them are not certified Engineers like me,But they still are Engineers.I dont know if this is clear enough.

People who builds flat and put out for rent, how long does it averagely recover their money?
.

Real estate is a long term investment not a short term investment. If you are investing in real estate you must be patient. It's not a crayfish market or boutique.

Investment - is categorized into
Short Term and Long Term.

Real estate like building block of flats for rent is a long term investment because it takes usually a minimum of 10 - 20yrs to fully recover initial capital. But the returns keeps coming and the value keeps appreciating. That's the advantage of real estate.

For more info about real estate investment. Check us out. We design easy and affordable real estate design that can help you achieve your building and recoup capital over a shorter period. The design and cost of your building plays a major role in the ROI Return of Investment.

Exactly!
Saying "CREDIT TO" would have partially solve this issue.
Anyway It's just to correct him,he might not see anything bad in that and might think the owner isn't here.
That design is one of the most beautiful 120 residential buildings in Nigeria as analysed by some technicians which I watched sometimes back on YouTube, Ihebrooke himself might not know that.
Not doing this because Ihebrooke is a good friend of mine, we talk often, but because we need to shun what is bad.
Thanks!
Maybe if it would have been Pinterest no one might care but here we do.

You are extremely wrong there, anyone who can Engineer anything perfect is an Engineer, however, I think the word you were looking for is A QUALIFIED ENGINEER. This is the Difference, we as Nigerians should desist that school of thought which tend to think its only those with certificate are worthy to be called Engineers nop, all maintenance personal in various industries in the west are mostly called Engineers even though they trained on the JOBB.

Engineer

noun. a person trained and skilled in the design, construction, and use of engines or machines, or in any of various branches of engineering: a mechanical engineer; a civil engineer. a person who operates or is in charge of an engine. Also called locomotive engineer.

Training and skill is what a professional is. To be called an engineer in Nigeria, the minimum training required is a Bachelor's degree or a post graduate degree in an engineering related field.

Those who trained on the job with no training are called artisans. The next level are the Technicians then the technologist . Each require a minimum level of training such as a Diploma and Higher diploma respectively.

Building a new machine that has never been made makes you an inventor not an engineer.

The term Engineer is related to the certification one carries which is the symbol of responsibility given by law. An Engineer should not exist without backing from the law. The title is awarded only based on established professional training and skill not your job or abilities or responsibility.

With regards to the law, only a person certified to be called an engineer is empowered to carry lawful instruments to allow the practice or in your case the operation of hydraulic equipment.

You dont have to attach the word certified to engineer to give it a meaning. An Engineer by law is certified while that person that is not certified is not an engineer.

Your point about engineers not existing in history does not hold water since even Nigeria as a country didn't exist at several points in history. The fact that ancient engineers were not called Engineer doest not change anything. Doctors also didn't exist in history but we had physicians.

Am sure you know the difference between a lawyer and a Barrister. These professional names are symbols of the law which created them and their responsibilities.

The cost of a well planned four bedroom bungallow should be within the range of 4.5m - 6m depending on some factors which includes
the taste of the client in terms of finishing, the nature/terrain of the site which will determine the structural members.b etc

we are affordable and easy to work with.

Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by odelspaceng: 3:58pm On Oct 22, 2019
our charges are moderate,

it depend on the design and your taste in terms of finishes
* is it a sloppy site to determine the structural members if necessary?
*are u doing German floor or just normal screeding?
*the finishes nd the other things like the kind of doors, metal doors, flush doors ,wooden doors quality will also determine here
*the sanitary wares types nd quality
.*The inner finishes for tiles ,kitchen cabinet arrangement
*The roof types nd ceiling,re u using pop or PVC
*the roof covering,re u having a decked area in the roof, roof material, long span aluminium or Gerard
*the compound finishes nd fence

all this will add up to determine what the range of prices will be but on the average for us we think 6m should be sufficient for a simple design

if there is no design..who do it too in style,...

wao.. Thanks but I think 10-20 years is too much. Although one of the advsntage is that the initial land and building is yours which you can sell any time. No wonder only rich people delve into real estate business.

Thank you for your definition of what an Engineer is as a noun.well in the weswt they do not believe in this formal Education University stuff as we do in Nigeria, they believe in practical and waht you can do on the day rather than the paper called certificate. That being said there is a big market on training on the job to get the skills and required training need to get certified.you do not neeed BSc in the west. There are loads of vocational sturdies!!!

I think you are missing the point. Let me try again.

The title Engineer is found in several professions. This is not just a Nigerian issue. Yes, Nigerians give undue recognition to titles but it doesn't mean we should use those titles anyhow. I have worked with Europeans who have never refer to themselves as Engineers as the title is being used in Nigeria but these guys have 40-60yrs professional experience. In their country, a Bachelor's degree is called a Diploma. Their profession is still Engineering and they are qualified Engineers.

All these being said, if you as an Engr wish to use the Title Engr instead of Mr. you need the law to back you up. An artisan cannot use that title unless he is qualified and the law gives him the title.

Now to analogies.
A law graduate is a lawyer but a law graduate called to bar is a Barrister! A lawyer can never be a Barrister without the bar (law) that gives him the right to bear the title.
A medical school graduate is not a Doctor until he has appropriately taken the oat.
A Professor is a professional rank and the title can only be used when the senate of awarding institution confers the title.
A person elected to the Senate cannot be called a Senator until he is sworn to office.
An Engineering school graduate is not an engineer until the title awarding body appropriately gives him the certification to bear the title.

Every other Title that any person can bear before his name has to be given by law.

You are in the UK and I believe you should be privy to how a person can earn the tilte Sir or Lord. Can anyone by himself award such title?

An Engineer is a title and has to be awarded by an instrument of the law. Therefore there are rules on who is qualified and who is not in every single title you can name.

Aaah, here in Anambra, once you donate regularly to the Church, you can use the title of Sir, before your name.`
Sir Ejiofor
Sir Emeka Offor
Sir this, Sir that. grin grin

But you are right.
The title "Engineer", is a Professional title that is awarded and confered by a Professional body of Engineers, after specified academic and experience qualifications are taken into consideration.
That is how it is everywhere, including the U.K
All Engineers are Certified as Engineers, that is why they are called Engineers.
Anything other than that does not make you an Engineer but you may have other appropriate titles for your level.
