@ Salford, does becoming a member of tpsk has any advantage in terms of getting jobs in technology profession. I just got some details from the inquiry I sent to them and been looking for heads up as regards benefits of being a member etc. Want to know if it's worth it? Thanks for your many help
Yes. It also gives the same benefit as ASET in Alberta. Some employes/ jobs would require a CET or Asct designation.

@Salford1:

I like reading your post as well. As for coming here once in a while, my brother it is because it is not easy keeping up with everything going on here but I try my best to read almost every post when I do check in.

As per the 20,000 a year immigration level you quoted above, you may want to check your number again. During Harper years (Feb 6, 2006 to November 4, 2015), the immigration number was between 238,130 (in 2007) and 270,580 (2010). This number was much higher than the liberal government of Jean Chretien and Paul Martin (Nov 4, 1993 to Feb 6, 2006) before it. Liberal number from the year 2000 to 2005 where between 199,190 (2003) to 256,410 (2002).

See the link below for immigration number for 2000 to 2018. Take note that 2000 to 2005 number belong to liberal, 2006 to 2015 numbers belong to conservative and 2016 to 2018 again belong to liberal.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/443063/number-of-immigrants-in-canada/

When it comes to writing articles about who is better for the economy between conservative and liberal anybody can write anything and back it up with data. Just like you I also find the article below that states that the conservatives are better for the economy and urging students to vote conservatives (see the link below). So, at you can see it all depends on who is writing the article. So, for me, I only go with the facts as I know it and as I see it affects me and my Canadian community and the future of our unborn kids, grand-kids, great grand-kids etc.

https://thevarsity.ca/2019/10/18/for-economic-growth-students-should-vote-conservative/

I know that you already voted, but please do not think your vote does not count even if the party of your choice does not win. Your vote counts a lot my brother. Thank you very much for voting even if it was the liberal that you voted for. Together we will make Canada better irrespective of who eventually wins. If my conservative wins, I look up to you to hold us accountable while I will also hold the liberals accountable if they eventually form the next government. That is the beauty of our democracy (unlike the APC/PDP democracy).

this is what I called constructive criticism... See how two matured men in person of @salford and @sixsigma1 are arguing with facts.... This naija mentality don nearly finish me sha and I still believe our so called politicians and aspiring ones still have a lot to learn..... Have learnt a lot from this piece so far..... Eseun, Nagode, Kubetin, Thank you!!!!!!

I am not quite sure if what I witnessed yesterday was an election, because it seemed like just a normal day. The country went to work and school, only dashing out for a few minutes to vote! Some schools were even used as polling centres while the pupils and teachers went about their usual business! There was not a single police on the street, no thugs, just people taking selfies at polling centres like na shoprite dem go. I watched some candidates do a house to house visit without company, motivating people to just vote, not necessarily to vote for them! At the end, I watched them only count votes, they had no deaths to count. I watched everyday people, school teachers, newscasters, get elected without Godfathers! Heck Wilson Raybould ran independently(without a party) and won! I watched  the parties that lost congratulate themselves, and the party that won reach out to those who voted against them! No talk of 97% vs 5%... I strongly suspected I was hallucinating, I said to myself "there must be something in the water I have been drinking here". So I slept hoping my brain would be in order when I wake but here I am still having these weird memories that claim to be real. Please I want to find out from you guys, if what you witnessed was the same.

Pls, how much was budgeting to feed dogs for the election. Because here for naija, big money.

You cannot compare how humans conduct themselves with animals.
It's not just possible

Black man will always conduct himself like black man (resisting the urge to use the word monkey) especially in Nigeria

Election there was smooth
I know we have our failings as a people but really?, that your statement right there is just wow

Why are you still resisting the the urge to use the word 'monkey' when the bolded statement above has contextually done justice to your line of thought?

I appreciate the fact that we blacks have a long way to go and we don't seem to even be in the right direction but we must desist from this attitude of self defamation. It is internalised racism and that is a terrible complex. We're not where we want to be, referring to ourselves (yourself inclusive) as animals will not, in any way, take us there. I am not an animal, I am an African and I'm sure the Canadian government knows that, that's why they granted me permanent residence in their country.

Let me ask you a question

Is there a polite way to tell a man whose mother is mad, that the mother is mad?

It's no news that Africans conduct themselves LIKE ANIMALS
It's clear for all to see, and it is at the core of why the world sees us as an inferior joke, even tho they are too polite to say it

Now that trump and his cohorts are in WH
You can see clearly what they really think of us.

It is okay to say that YOU are not an animal.
Those who conduct themselves like animals most likely won t qualify for EE in the first place
We are the statistical outliers

But that does not change the fact that MOST Africans conduct themselves no different from animals

It is not self hatred
It is not internalized racism or whatever

It's the truth

I don't wish to proceed any further. Let's just say your Africa is not mine because the Africa you know is the people around you. My own Africa does not consist of animals/monkeys. They are doctors, engineers, programmers, lawyers, teachers, etc. They are loving mothers and fathers. They are people that have and acknowledge their limitations but also have great potentials. They refuse to identify as animals even with their shortcomings. They have travelled far and wide and they know that all human races have their own limitations; some are just better off than others. They are full of life and hope and they will not see themselves through the eyes of others. They will not let the activities of some define the entire continent. The Western world is competing to have them in their countries. They are my Africa.

No nation ever made it in history by calling themselves names. None.

Self denial

It's all good

You can believe what you want.
But it does not change the fact on the ground

Nigeria is so good yet there is a mass exodus of both skilled and unskilled people cheesy cheesy

Africa is so good yet most of the societies are pig stys?

All the best in all your endeavors as you leave a failed country

As a matter of fact
Most of us here are not

If we are facing the short end of the stick like most Nigerians
We will not even bother running the express entry program in the first place

Even those of us fleeing

Is it not because of the dilapidated mess that Nigeria has become (which btw is largely in part due to the illiterate; unexposed and barbaric way of most Nigerian )

I refuse to delude myself
It's clear for all to see.

Most of Africa and Africans conduct themselves no different from animals

This is the truth. It's the sad but bitter truth. I believe in Self Love and all that but the fact is that the African Society is not something to be proud of. Imagine a situation where a statesman has the temerity to come to the public and say that a Snake swallowed monetary funds.

It goes to show you how lowly the citizens and individuals are rated. I Love that I'm black but the fact remains that Africa or rather at least Nigeria (where I have personal experience) is only good to be celebrated from afar and not within.

Hello People long time no talk. Landing gist below:
So PPR came July 25th after 9months! *side eye*IRCC but we thank God sha. Booked lufthansa for 15th september (landed 16th sept, my birthday so to say i started this journey on a new note ehn). Journey started from eko ile around 5:30pm with plenty entourage my parents and in laws, traveled with my husband and one infant. Had 5 bags, one hand luggage, backpack, car seat and baby stroller. I thought lufthansa will give hassle with the car seat and stroller cos their site said either or, just wanted to try my luck sha, they actually accepted both. Before i continue, 3days earlier we weighed and reweighed luggage and decided it wont make sense to pay for extra luggage (lufthansa charged CAD$300, smh) so we went to cargo paid about 175k for 141kg and issued receipt for N23K (which way naija?).

If someone calls you a monkey/animal and you contest it, and the person comes back to tell you it's self denial then he's actually insisting you're a monkey but just denying it. Africa is not such a great continent. We all want to run away. All true. But I refuse to be tagged animal or monkey metaphorically or otherwise. That's derogatory and unacceptable.

Will you also tell the white man "this is true" when he calls you or any of your loved ones a monkey? You guys are missing the point. The dude I quoted had every reason to be mad at Africa. His position was right and perfect. But his post called us monkeys/animals. That's a tag that every reasonable person should reject outrightly. That we are in the abroad today does not make us less African and if we're not monkeys or animals, I think it's unjust for him to call us animals. Feel free to point out all my flaws as an African but I'm not going to be tagged an animal for any reason whatsoever. That's derogatory and I'll be surprised if you don't see it that way

I clearly understand where you're coming from. It's actually derogatory but I dare say you could blame it on frustration because the entire situation is sickening. Sometimes, you see things that make you wonder why you're even part of the failed society in the first place. The 'animal' and 'monkey' tag is just borne out of frustration.

The other day I saw a documentary about a guy complaining that he was deported for the seemingly harmless reason that he was caught pissing on the road while possessing an overstayed visa...

Things like this can just make you scream 'Oh, my God, Africans are animals'

It's frustrating.

There is no justifiable reason to call or liken any human being to an animal, no reason atall.

I sincerely hope that you understand @etrange's point of view.

Nigeria, and Africa as a continent, may not be where it should be, that does not give anyone the basis to use derogatory words to describe your fellow human being.

Have a great day.

Took about 15min in all. The actual vote itself took like 2 minutes. The remaining 13minutes was spent on driving to and fro. No sign of area boys anywhere or police/mopol on standby.

Baba how are we going to fix Nigeria? The problem isn't our leaders, that's an over simplification. I think the problem is in everyone of us, there is something about our culture that makes it not matter who is president or governor. The same old shit, would still go on regardless because we are cultured the same. It explains why born Canadians of Nigerian descent are ideologically very different from their parents.

This is a question far beyond my level. I don't even blame or direct my anger at the leaders anymore, because they are just a representation of the people. They are not aliens. It would be nice If there was a way bad Nigerians could be purged of everything evil like corruption, dishonesty, wickedness etc. It's no surprise the US or other developed countries come hard on corruption. The US especially will use a sledgehammer to kill a fly when it comes to corruption/dishonest/fraud because it spreads like a plague. The irony of it all is that we are also very religious.

We have also seen several instances on this thread of how people have requested for ways or ideas of gaming the system. What about Nairaland itself? Can discussions on this forum be compared with Reddit or other 1st world countries similar platforms? This platform is just a micro-representation of Nigeria, and we can see how alot of Nigerians reason and comment on the politics and crimes thread. If you say something bad about yahoo or fraud, and Kids or maybe adults on here would swear at you or curse you out for calling out evil in the society. It is also okay to steal money aslong as the person is your kinsmen. Sometimes, you just feel like closing Nairaland's account out of frustration. I won't call people animals or monkeys because it would be wrong to do so, but some people truly exhibit animal behaviours, not just blacks though. Even white people do, but some countries have them in greater numbers than others. lol. May God help Nigeria o.

It is better to leave Nigeria's wahala discussion out of this thread to prevent derailment.

Nigeria was never created to be work. the west and our leaders are benefiting from the status quo. so nothing would ever change.

@SixSigma,

Your post is filled with Dog Whistle. Then when people call you out, you get defensive. It's like Trump saying MAGA. Minorities living in the U.S. or the west knows he really means make America white again. People who live in Canada know where you stand and what you really mean. This has nothing to do with political parties. You're masking your hatred for certain type of immigrants with that. You have adopted the ideology of an anti-immigration Canadian. This view point is usually expressed by white canadians who like to blame everything on immigration. Most refugees don't contribute. The FACTS say otherwise. Most Nigerian refugees have false claims. How do you know that ? Are you there during their court dates ?

While you walking around all high and mighty because you finally got citizenship. Just remember immigration comes in different forms. Not everyone is qualified or has the money to come in through the EE. Besides, a refugee from Syria for example who comes here because THE WEST is bombing their country, doesn't have time to fill out an EE form when bombs are dropping on them. Never bash or judge someone who's trying to migrate to Canada, regardless of how they get here. Because ultimately they're coming over for the SAME reason you came over here. To improve their lives.

Spot on.Thanks a million.

I do understand his point of view and I do not justify the use of abuse to describe a human. I'm simply trying to view it from another perspective... the perspective of one who is frustrated... It's like when one says the Super Eagles are Super Chickens because of their dismal results... It's not ideal but sometimes it can't be helped

Use jobbank and click on "explore the market* under the menu tab. You can search for any financial related role in Newfoundland and Ontario and it will give you all the info you need from the wages, to skills required and even current job vacancies.

Above the available financial jobs in your search in Newfoundland, you'll see similar jobs in other provinces and the total vacancies posted. This will easily let you know where you'll have more opportunities in that field. I could be wrong though.
