Although am not a Buharist but on the closing of border ,I'm in support of that, the local rice i bought is neat & free of stone 19k, if they package it in the bag of foreign and sold it for me for 26k , i wouldn't have know that the content is local
One should quit buying costly foreign rice for now because one reporter actually talked to one of the people at Benin/Nigeria border who are now bagging Nigeria local rice into the foreign rice bags because many Nigerians wanted foreign rice. Suppliers have no foreign rice to supply and foreign rice consumers can't actually differentiate between imported rice and some Nigerian local rice. So, the swindlers capitalised on it, selling local rice as foreign rice to mumus

Or abi, you no want jobs?...or is it that you want 'office job'?
It is important to always put the horse bfore the cart odawise both parties suffer.

Wen u suddenly cut off supply and ur local production cant even carter for a quarter of ur population, we all suffer for the adverse effect.

Ur govt is only concered about the present benefit of revenue generation through strick border policies at the expense of happiness of the masses

Well, for the record, I don't support the border closure.

But the truth is, we don't have enough foreign exchange in this country. And overimportation of rice is draining that forex. Plus, overimportation of rice is stifling whatever little local rice farming we have.

Eventually they would have to open the border. No problems. But even then, we can start increasing rice production in this country...instead of handing over forex to Thailand and Brazil and Benin.

Its not the lack of forex dats the issue but the monopolized economy such that nig produces nothing as such we only pay in forex and nothing to sell in xchange for the forex outflow.

so if overnight the govt only solution is to close border to carter for lack of forex den hunger and calamity is just some meters away from nigeria

Increased rice production would also result in increase of White Collar jobs. I believe imported rice should be banned period.... or.... hit with an extremely high tariff......those who have ears let them hear.... if your mouth can stomach imported rice only ... then be prepared to pay through the nose....let the country be up to its eyeballs with good quality local rice. No man has ever died because of rice shortage. If you can't live with Rice Im Ported.... then again I say R.I.P.
