The Federal Government on Wednesday in Abuja pledged to ensure the delivery of a new international airport in Lagos before Easter celebration next year.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, stated this in an interview with journalists at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in the State House.

The minister also said the necessity to construct a new airport in Lagos had become compelling, bearing in mind that when the airport was first commissioned in 1980, it was meant to serve only 200,000 people.

However, he said the number of passengers using the airport has risen from 200,000 in 1980 to 8 million people today with a number of infrastructures there already collapsed.

He also explained that the plan for the overhaul of the Lagos airport is in two phases, noting that after the delivery of the new airport, the old one will be redesigned and reconstructed in acknowledgement of the growing population of Lagos as well as the attraction that Lagos continues to generate.

Travellers long awaiting this terminal completion. It will bring more convenience and sure will be a welcoming delight to travellers entering Nigeria from other countries.

But as they are commissioning the new airport terminal, they should decommission all the police, immigration, customs bribe collectors at every 5 metre walk, who don't mind you missing your flight if you don't "settle" them.
And also all the jobless people that have no business being there but have successfully turned Lagos airport into a marketplace.

It’s very annoying that people from abroad heading to Lagos prefer to fly to Abuja first just to avoid all the harassments that come with using MMIA.

Yea! Last month I went to drop off someone, they were doing the ground work like as if someone is chasing them. From what I saw, it appears they may meet up deadline.

What kinda rubbish is this, can you compare this with that Ghanian Katoko abi na kontonko airport terminal .

well since it was constructed by the Chinese, we gat no option than to accept the outcome no matter how bad it might look.

kudos to the Buhari government for making sure the work was never stalled.
