On my first visit to London in '12, I was taken to Liverpool Street Market where I bought clothes and other stuff at very affordable rates. The whole streets was filled with traders esp Africans and Asians selling different merchandise. So I decided to go there but to my surprise, we were greeted with empty streets when we got there. I was told that the govt increased the tax astronomically that the traders couldn't afford to pay. 6 Likes 2 Shares

justwise: I guess because Megabus fares are very cheap. Even here in the United States an Equivalent Journey that will cost about $80 with Greyhound Bus only cost about $10 with Megabus when booked in advance. 1 Like |

1stbest:Well, I've not lived in any European country, so I can't compare cost of living I don't know about unavailability of jobs because I am not here to settle, so I've not seen the need to scout for jobs in my field (might involve writing exams, etc) On the other hand, medical field is 'always' in need of staff in one area or the other. Also, the tech field. So it depends on what jobs one is looking for.. Internet, Nairaland is full of information. That been said, care jobs are readily available for one to do either to carry hold body till something better comes up or permanently . I've seen some graduates, do care jobs while switching to another career eg Nursing 4 Likes 1 Share |

There are a lot of things we take for granted back home. Example Fire prevention and control especially as regards public and commercial places. One of the online courses I did training on was fire safety regulations, so naturally I became aware of some fire precautions at every home I go to work in.. Almost all homes have fire drills on a particular day/time every week. Once it's time and the fire alarm sounds, all staff are expected to leave whatever they are doing and head down to the muster point. Some homes have their fire doors closing automatically, some you have to manually close them. One home required all the staff on each floor manning the exit doors when the alarm started. Usually, this last for some minutes, while they check whatever and then we all go in So I'll show some pictures of extinguishers I've seen and what fire they can be used on effectively, because in my part of Naija na only water extinguisher I don see for Govt secretariat 2 Likes |

England has Fire Extinguisher Regulations which governs how fire extinguisher should be used. Where to locate them eg 'standard pair' Water and CO2 fire extinguisher should be located at Exits and fire alarm call points. Also governs the size of the extinguisher to be used depending on the size of the building, when to replaced, services etc. It also stipulates that extinguisher should be serviced annually and the dates and signature of tech who serviced it displayed. At the point where the extinguisher is located, information as to what fire to use for should also be displayed According to the Regulations, it will be illegal to mount a fire extinguisher without first having it commissioned. That is The extinguisher has been properly checked and certified good for use by a certified tech.. Water used for class A fire.. not for liquid or electrical fires. Used typically in offices, schools, residential houses etc 2 Likes
