This is most important.... don't ever ignore warning signs. He has a big contract .... but travelling for two weeks to hopefully contest for it? ... travelling but not knowing where to stay? ... can afford two week stay but clueless about getting data? ...and borrowing money for same?...N1K? You not living in a one room?...and single?... back to Plan A... borrow money...pay back quickly with interest... impress paying back is not a problem... set up for the kill.... either get your bank account details (locked room hurdle)... or big investment scheme... both failed... he mad. Consider yourself lucky he didn't jam a knife at your throat... force you to give him the details... then slit your throat....and disappearing. Again..... never ignore warning signs or gut feelings.
Some men are really dogs.... but few are exceptions... the ones you can trust with all your heart.... like me for example..... sooo calm and honest and gentle like a lion lamb. So now that the beast has gone and the guest room is empty.... and I have to be in your area for a conference.... is it possible that ehmmmm......can we talk privately??

@ maynation.... I don't often commend nairaland ladies
As a matter of fact, I have zeroed nairaland ladies
But you have changed my opinion that there are still good ones..

Lesson number one.... Never judge based on one side of the story

I guess many would have condemned the lady based on the guys post.. Without hearing from the other side

Number 2.....never trust a stranger you met online.... The ones you know in real life cannot be completely trusted

What if he had killed you in your own home

It wasn't a wise decision and I blame your boyfriend... Good heart or not

The guy had a plan... There was no contract... He was an obvious scammer

He only came to Akure to see you, effect the plan and maybe chop the cookie too

You just a strong lady for not giving in

He's obviously an amateur too and sloppy... Invading your privacy and still telling you, he knows how much you earn

Lazy motherfvcker

Pained ass niggaa...he eventually lost control and panicked.... Rushed here to boost his ego....

Did you ask for the 10k extra?

What about the accommodation for 2 weeks ? Probably you were the one feeding him and all.... Still no get shame dey say he's broke

Isn't all that worth more than 10k?

A sense of useless entitlement... You should buy him 1k card

This Jay dude will come to regret it.... Cos he just wasted a lifetime friendship opportunity..

I liked that you cleared him on time.... Not leading him on

The onus lies on him not to give up... Maybe he win eventually win your heart or something.... Various ways to do this right.... The mofo decided to play a fast one

When it didn't work out... He started crying foul... Trying to thrash a good samaritan image

You lucky he wasn't around.... When you told him... You'd saved enough money for another car
He would have had sleepless nights.... Maybe na then im go hit you something for head

Who is the scammer?
So many guys are disgracing the male gender

He never had money for any hotel... He told you he was broke when he came around.... He was banking on you accommodating him from start....
You dived right into it.... It was a well laid out plan... I give it to him
He only got emotional and naive at the end

Let's say you actually had feelings for him.... It will be like filmtrick, how your money for grow wings

You've done nothing wrong, except being too nice, too trusting and too accomodating

God bless you sis... There might actually be a few good Nigerian gals out there with no strings attached

Wow... I saw this thread yesterday and I waved it aside thinking it was another super story from a nairalander without concrete evidence. I was engrossed while reading honestly. First off, thank goodness he didn't succeed with his plans and you were very lucky not to fall for such. Others could have succeeded with this little opportunity. Base on what have seen so far via the screenshots, Too low for the guy to capitalise on your disposition of being too nice. Don't want to fault you here maynation by accommodating the guy, you did the right thing but you didn't apply caution. This just shows you are a good fellow with a great heart and God will reward you for that. And for the guy, I won't judge you cause I wasn't there but remember, the words says whoever uses evil to pay good, evil will never depart from his house... You are a rare gem maynation for helping a total stranger at such... Very risky in this Nigeria... cheers.
izaray, you need to see this honestly. Things are happening on Nairaland o

Good morning fellow wonderful people.

This thread is a response to the baseless accusation from a nairalander yesterday.
Worthy of mention is the fact that he has called to apologise late last night, i guess he had a little sugar rush and this sorta made him go haywire. Anyways, i have forgiven him out of my good heart smiley but then the deed has already been done and I believe many people have already seen the post so I definitely need to clear my name.

For the sake of my peace of mind, I have been on nairaland since 2009, even though I deactivated my previous account and and created this one. Since I have been on this forum I have never exchanged contacts with anyone apart from Jason (which shall be referred to as Jay all through my post).
I gave spoken and met some nairalanders actually but it is out of this platform. I met Lirusehn back then in ABU, I met: "Queenyprinxex, Sehindemi15'' and one other guy I can't remember his name at Lirusehn's birthday party back then in 2017 and we have been friends since then.

Then again he alleged that 'Sisterfine' and 'pettyprincess' are my alternate monikers, please this isn't so. I met these people on that thread so his claim is an obvious baloney.
My alternates are 'maynattion and maynnation!.

Why did I give Jay my contact? He begged. Yeah, he begged. He was too persistent and I felt giving him the number wouldn't cause any harm even though I out-rightly regretted and regret this.

Anyways, I will be sharing screenshots of what truly transpired and I will allow you fellows to be the judge. But did he really give me 10K as he alleged? This post will answer it.

@maynation,

I am publicly requesting to become your friend. If the chats I read are true without dilution, there is no point hiding behind a finger. A woman like you is so rare.

I need not to proof anything because you will naturally become wary of meeting new guys especially from a faceless forum like nairaland but I can assure you that my identity is real. I am the country manager of a popular company in Nigeria in one of the west African countries.

I am in a dire need of a girl like you. I believe that you will complement me. I need your maturity and intelligence. I hope that you will find my personality interesting. One bad thing about me is that I'm always very busy and constantly travels due to the nature of my job.

I am not shy to express my friendship publicly because what is good is worth chasing.

Not tryna insult you,but you must be real tough for a woman to bring this kinda person inside your house to stay for even 1 sec not to talk of staying for over 24hrs .You need to be real careful this desperate moot could have Robbed you off all you have or even killed you..
Re: I am not a scammer. My encounter with a Nairalander by CyberWolf:
You have a boyfriend and you housed another niggar you’ve never met before in your house? Ladies like you shouldn’t be taken serious. Some people here are saying OP is smart, like seriously? I see a dumb girl that fell for the same format yahoo boys use in hypnotizing there potential maye and as you all see, she fell for it flat and even started doing favors that the scammer didn’t even ask for, that is offering to house him free of charge and she get boyfriend oo and your so called boyfriend even spoke with the scammer on phone cheesy chai.. You see that you and ur boyfriend are dumb. You’re very lucky that the Jay scammer only perfected his con skills but lack the mind and courage to execute his plan if not, you would’ve turn like this “ young lady killed and dumped on the street, some body parts missing” and we all here will blame yahoo boys, ritualists, skull miner, etc. ... Just go and thank your stars, most ladies like you are not that lucky.

@maynation

I hope you have moved to a new house.

It was too much of a risk to house a grown man who isn't related to you in any way except that you think he is some nice guy you met on here. Yeah, there are no rules to who or where you meet people but Babes, it was too much to do. That guy left who knows wherever he lives to come cool off with you....he had no business in akure.

As soon as he discovered you were doing pretty well for yourself, stealing from you, robbing you or duping you was the next on his evil agenda. Thank goodness you weren't hurt because if he had come prepared he would have done more.

I have met guys on this forum that I'll forever be thankful to God that I met and ofcos.....it is mutual.

Sis, pls don't always trust too easily, your home is suppose to be your safe place. Every Tom dick and harry can't be welcomed in there especially because you live alone!

You are a nice person and your heart is pure but the sad truth is that some people are just out there to take advantage of the nice ones.

What if you had been raped (I reject it) or robbed? God bless you dear for you kind heart. Keep being you but keep people at arm’s length you don’t know too well of.

After reading through I must say you are a smart girl with a very unique heart. Your responses to his messages and when to pull the plug during d convo was a top notch. I can't really say that I have seen your type socially before.
The guy is a scammer who planned everything before coming to ur house. His contracts et al were all fake from inception.
He only got furious when he discovered both plan A and B couldn't work out and you were smarter than he thought, and he also realized that he lost 10k to you which wasn't even enough to me looking at d cost of accommodation and feeding you gave him.
Please do not stop to help people around you if you can... But not some random online goaldigger.

Why are some people here especially the guys still defending that idiot with this overwhelming evidence. This is absurd.

She brought all the shi.t on herself hearing the intelligent talks from him .... Most intellectual guys are potential scammers , you won't see it coming because what you see is the intellect !!

Now, I will have to train my would be daughters better !!! ......

From the huge contract, VC, Cheap Hotel , trash talk .... An intelligent mind would have seen some disconnect.... Maynation fell because she lent him 25k and he returned 35k .....

Op I have never come across the extent of kindness. No not in this day and age with the evil that lurks around. You are rare, you talked, housed, fed and stayed alone with a man you barely knew. It is mind blowing how you were wary of his sinister intentions. And yet you were not wary enough not to allow him into your house. Or had the courage to throw him out at the first red flag( him going through your documents and asking about your income). You really had courage to stay alone with him for days.
You shouldn't change not everyone is the same. We do have good people with good intentions. Btw you are lucky enough to have solid evidence of your interactions together
