Realdeals:Yes it is! BUT can we forget about the domain name and go for another as we have already paid for all that in our new hosting company? And is there any disadvantage after? Thanks |

With this info, the domain has not been renewed and as it is now that it would probably be in redemption period or auction. He can still renew (probably at a higher fee) or you just wait till the domain is back for purchase at a normal price (in maybe 3months or so) that's if the name isn't attractive or valuable else someone else might have bought it via auction. |

Anayordike:The issue now is the design, otherwise the best option now is to register a new domain let it be ".com.ng" at the back, after 6 months, the old domain that's ".com" will be available for free, you can then register it again. |

There isn't much advice that can be given to you here unless you pay the price for the domain renewal with your host. If your domain name is expired, most hosting companies will demand that you renew it before you can transfer it to another host. For you to transfer your domain from host company A to company B, you will have to initiate the transfer process from company A before company B can receive your domain. You can see why the company A has the exclusive right to your domain. That is why I often advise website owners to use a different company for hosting their domain than their sites. If your case is that you had used a different company for hosting your domain other than your website host, you could have easily overlooked your reseller host and renew your domain with that company that hosted it to make it transferable, you will only need to download your website files from the site root of your reseller host ("wp-content" file in case your site is WordPress) to move to your new host. My only advice to you is to bargain with your reseller host so that they only allow you to pay for your domain renewal, not the entire site hosting. The renewal price for the domain is often in the region of $15 or so, but to renew the entire site, they can charge you outrageous prices. I hope you get my point? |

This church people sef!.Got free money but do not like paying for goods and services. Always want thing free. Better pay the guy cos to be a reseller is not a crime. and also remember that when you need support and maintenance he is the person you will see physically in your church(office) not the company based in any country or state. |

Emyo:Forgive you... I checked your profile and I saw your age... You may not be older to my first child. You don't know me and what am capable of doing and you come here to insult someone old enough to be your father both physiologically and spiritually? My type doesn't curse... That's why I forgive. Don't do that again! |

BunMerit:I don't remember telling anyone he's a member of my church. What's wrong going directly to the hosting company? Is it a crime? |

zone51:Thanks. I have the backup files on my local system. I and my son did the design ourselves. I just want peace! I don't want him to feel cheated! And I don't want him to also cheat us. But I don't mind if paying off will make him good. I NEED TO CLARIFY THAT WE ARE NOT OWING HIM A DIME! WE PAID HIM FOR HIS SERVICE. That |

Anayordike:Then, you don't need to feel guilty since you don't owe him anything, just register the ".com.ng" and let him be. |

Anayordike:Okay let us start with this - What's your hosting provider and where did you get your domain from?? Different hosting providers handle stuffs like this differently. I'm sure there's a documentation for something like this. Ps: I haven't looked through the entire thread to see if you answered any of my questions, but it won't do no harm if you answer again. |

Anayordike:From the look things it seems you pretty much have figured things out. Also, you don't seem to come off as a tech savvy. Well, this is an article that explains the entire process of moving your site from you previous host to a new one https://firstsiteguide.com/change-hosting/ |

l. Getting a new domain means losing visitors who new your former domain no matter how close the domain name related. 2. Getting a new domain means getting a new website since you have not settle with the guy, you can't access your previous website contents. You are starting all over from square one. 3. It depends on the information or contents of the former site. Do you really need them? if yes , you must settle for peace. Come to an agreement. if possible, pay him off. 4. Ask him to renew it, but beat down the prize.... or check the actual hosting fees of the said site to know if he is overcharging. some hosting companies charge less with poor service. 5. Make a deal with him, renew for three months, get a new website, transfer the domain 6. He is the major player here as far as getting back the previous content is concerned. so you must play loyalty to your best to get his interest or attention or forget the former website for life because you can never by pass him except you are able to get a good chat with the customer care service of the website, but since you can't log into admin, mmmmmm hard time.... |
