Hello house, I will like to know if it is in any way possible to rent a house directly from the landlord without having to pay for agency and al sort of fees in dis our lagos?

just happen to me too in abroad I think the issue is a global problem, you just have to pay those devils their fees

ok why don't you see it from the other side.
*They the agents meets with the landlord and negotiate to bring in a nice tenant
*go and find out the owner and negotiate to be a good person and pay directly into his/her account.It worked for me.

I tried. The last place b4 where I am now. We went to meet the landlord directly. He agreed 4 us to stay but insisted we meet the agent. The agent collected 20% of the 1 year rent as we were not paying 2 yrs and still collected 10% as lawyers agreement. These landlords sef. We left after 4 months as the place became unbearable to live in. No refund of anything though we gave adequate notice and it was written in d agreement.

Bottomline, all Lagos landlords are the same - greedy.

I have observed that anybody can be an agent. It doesn't take anything to be one. In that case, they are needless and should be flushed out of the system. What we need in Lagos are landlords or landlord representatives. Once a prospective tenant meets with the landlord or his rep and both agree on the tenancy fee, the contract should then be signed in a competent law court or any relevant govt agency. The court or agency, as the case may be, should now have an updated database of landlords, properties and associated tenants within specified regions of the state.  That's all!!! No agent fee, no agreement fee!!!

Ofcourse yes!!!! So far it is not in the town, probably in the bush.

The most annoying part is, if u are fortunate enough to see one that u can pay for 1 year rent, the nonsensical agent will still tell u to pay agreement and commission fee for 2 years and then dmamages fee, na wa o, it's really killing and annoying, these landlords have forgotten that they were once tenants abi, just making life unbearable

I am a landlord in PH and I dont deal with agents. When there is vacancy in my house I just put a notice on a board with my number and place it in front of the house so that I can be contacted directly. At times some agents who see such notices bring prospective tenants to me but I quickly tell the tenant that they are acting with the agents on their own. If negotiations go well I will then involve my lawyer for documentations.

In Ikorodu area of lagos u can get a 2 bedroom for 150k a year direct to d landlord , if u so desire buzz me back

Since Fashola has made Rent payment minimum of 6months now, I think he can do something and make it a kind of law not to pay more than certain amount for both agreement and maintainace fee.  Like N5,000 for single room, 10k for two rooms, 12k 2 bedroom flat and so on. perharps that will help. Else, this agent will not look for better jobs than to rob people. and we all must rent a hose somehow till we are able to build one by God's grace.
