This is not the case at all. University education is not that restricted anywhere else on earth. There are allowances for external examiners, sabbaticals, visiting professors, and there just HAS to be flexibility to account for all of these. If any of you hacks ever passed through a university, you would understand.

Part time, full time. There's a striking difference between these two. What the OP implies is that, no lecturer should keep two or more FULLTIME engagements. Those options you listed above fall under part time.

Medical doctors are next after lecturers

They have not told you how much those lecturers earn. They have not told you that adjunct staff is not a full time job. They have not told u that to be adjunct u must be a PhD holder at senior lecturer level before another Uni can accept you. They only told u lecturers have many full time jobs. I hope they wont cripple that sector forever just to favour the private unis set up by them.

2. Most of your courses in various universities wi not be accredited if you abolish adjuncts.

3. The same FG will put a cap on employment and through NUC set up lecturer to stidents ratio.

4. You apply for waiver and your waiver is turned down.

5. If universities are to admit based on the number of lecturers available, only about 1% of those who apply for admission through JAMB will be admitted.

Having said that

ASUU is not hiding adjunct lecturers. ASUU is saying that IPPIS doesn't have the capacity to accommodate the perculiarities of the University system.

The law establishing federal universities is an act of the national assembly which has granted autonomy to institutions with governing councils to oversee their activities.

Putting the unis on ippis will violate the autonomy

IPPIS is not designed to accommodate the retirement age of 70 for Prof

It cannot handle external assessments

Had one lecturer like that back then, he comes from another university so the guy had to change his lecture time to Saturday afternoon 4 hours stretch.... No EPL for me that semester

Through out my four years in the university , I didn't set eyes on my H.O.D. this man is always not around. I happened to meet him in our final year magazine when his picture appeared on the magazine.

You're not entirely correct.
If you are a lawyer and you choose lecturing as a profession, there are other ways to update yourself and teaching students. For instance, engaging students in Law clinic, updating yourself on recent court cases.

And with other professions you mentioned... As a lecturer, you can always update yourself with recent happenings in your field. Thus, you lecture materials can always be changing from semester to semester.

Actually Federal University lecturers are involved in the racket. During my school days, we had one from UNN visiting us then in another federal University to lecture ...so I'm sure they've blown that cover. Possible their own member snitched out on them ....you know all these faction fighting thing.
