Ask your folks in Ghana if they can notice the effect of the border closure on the economy of Ghana angry Fuckeduppedness you don’t get it right? Ghana has a duty to speak for the rest of West Africa and that is what it is doing. So because Ghana’s economy is not affected, Ghana should overlook what is a clear violation of ecowas protocols?
We all know that Ghana has been affected and that's why your ministers have been running up and down and talking, begging the Nigerian government for forgiveness.
The effect of an ordinary border by Nigeria has even extended as far as Liberia, your kasapreko already loses $1 million monthly since the closure, just one company.
By early next year, we'd all know the devastation it has wreaked on your individual economies, meanwhile continue crying for now.
Tell your ministers to stop begging and crying and go sue Nigeria at the ECOWAS court.

I see
Thegoodone13:
Benin Republic has a ipopulation of 12 million people. But it is the worlds 5th importer of rice. In 2018, it imported rice worth US$996m.*

*Benin is also world's largest importer of _used_ _cars_ and __second_ - _hand_ _clothing_ . All with a population of 12m people.*
*DO YOU WONDER HOW?.........*
*Don't!*

*98.2% of these imports into Benin are only on transit; their final destination is _NIGERIA_ !*
*Nigeria is world's largest consumer of used cars and second hand clothing, and is also Africa's largest consumer of Asian grown rice.*

*The problem here is that all these imported goods attract appropriate import duty and trade tax, which are paid to the Beninoise Government while the goods are thence SMUGGLED into Nigeria WITHOUT ANY PAYMENT to the Nigerian Government and, thereby, adding zero value to the Nigerian economy!*
*Sadly, THIS IS ALL DONE BY NIGERIANS!*

*Granted, ECOWAS/CEDEAO charter allows for free trade between member states, but _on_ _goods_ _produced_ _in_ _member_ _countries_ , and NOT on imports from other economic blocs.*

*Where foreign goods are transiting through a member country, and ending up in another member country, the ECOWAS charter stipulates that the country of transit MAY collect a token trade tax, and its Customs officials should then escort the goods to the border of the importing country and hand it over to the Customs officials of the importing country!*
*But what we see in the case of Benin Republic is that it collects _CUSTOMS_ _DUTY_ plus _TRADE_ _TAX_ , and then allows the goods to pass through its hinterland for onward smuggle into Nigeria!*

*This is a clear violation of ECOWAS statutes and no nation can condone such costly infraction.*

*Nigeria has tolerated this nonsense from Benin for far too long and it is time to stop the malpractice if we want Nigeria's economy to grow.*
*(Therefore, whoever cries foul because we have closed our borders to smugglers while we're putting our act together, IS AN ENEMY OF NIGERIA!)*

*Nigeria makes up about 74% of ECOWAS population and about 71% of its economy. It is ECOWAS that needs Nigeria and not the other way round!*

ANY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEMBER COUNTRIES MUST BE BASED ON EXTANT REGULATIONS!

Nigeria Economy May Slip Back Into Recession. Yari grin

Abdulaziz Yari, Zamfara State governor, who also doubles as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, has warned that Nigeria may head for another economic recession due to the decline in oil price.
Yari projected that the vital oil industry maybe hit by another weaker global prices, which has fallen from highs of about $112 a barrel in 2014 to below $75 at the moment.

Yari, while speaking at the opening ceremony of an induction programme for newly-elected and returning governors in Abuja, said “this scenario is a wake-up call for all of you to come amply prepared to face these kinds of challenges.”

“We are expecting the possibility of another cycle of recession by mid-2020 and which may last up to third quarter of 2021,” he added.

Similar thoughts was also shared by the monetary policy committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria in December 2018.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, said the economy had started showing signs of weakness.

According to Emefiele, the slowdown emanated from the oil sector, with strong linkages to employment and growth.

Yari, therefore, advised that governors to “look inward by boosting your revenue generation base” and also use the revenue judiciously.

The Zamfara State governor said the outgoing governors have agreed that borrowing is not a good means of solving economic problems.

He urged the incoming governors to multiply revenue generation base so as to “change the course of doing government business for the betterment of the people”.

Nigeria’s economy exited recession in 2017 after suffering contraction for five consecutive quarters.

Critics say government policies made a bad situation even worse. The decision to delay devaluing Nigeria’s currency meant many businesses struggled to get foreign currency to pay for imports, which had a worse effect on the entire economy.

The slump in global oil prices hit Nigeria hard with the government getting about 70% of its revenues from oil sales.

Nigeria is a soveriegn state.we can do pretty much what we want with our borders.Thats what it means to be a soveriegn state.Any agreement that rids a nation of that priviledge robs it of its soverignity.except Ghana wants to start controlling Nigeria.

It's temporary pain, let's endure. If we increase our local productions, the plan to take 100million out of poverty in 10yrs can actually work. I want Buhari to ban imported phones, ban imported software in our major institutions, etc. If you can't totally ban them, tax a hell out of them. Necessity is the mother of invention. I don't mind going back to the era of legacy phones like 3310, so far it is made in Nigeria. People want to make Nigeria their market and they don't want to produce here whereas we have millions of our youths jobless. I know FG needs to improve infrastructures but some companies can still manage to produce with what we have at present.
Nobody will force our youths to invest in Agriculture when they see their mates making 100% returns in 9months.

You think we have forgotten the levies imposed on Nigerian businesses operating in Ghana and how many Nigerians were frustrated out of Ghana? And you're here talking trade? What trade exactly? If you truly have the market for those big companies you cornered into Ghana, then don't cry about closed borders. How many Nigerians have they frustrated with unreasonable demands? I know one igbo food seller who dey chased out of an uncompleted building, chased her out of her second place, and then finally out of a shop she rented in the park.

If you know how many dollars I paid - thousands of Nigerian students pay for resident permit, you'll cry. This is how it goes. You'll first need to make a foreign resident ID card. If they've not increased it - $120. You'll then use a photocopy of it when making the resident permit. It could be up to 120 cedis now.
