Won't work for all lecturers.

1. LECTURERS FROM FACULTY OF LAW HAVE TO PRACTICE LAW FULL TIME OR THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO TEACH TO THE BEST STANDARD.

2. LECTURERS FROM MEDICAL FACULTIES HAVE TO PRACTICE MEDICINE FULL TIME FOR THEM TO TEACH MEDICAL STUDENTS.

3. THIS APPLIES TO PHARMACY AS WELL

4. IF ENGINEERING WAS A "PRACTICAL" COURSE IN NIGERIA, IT WOULD BE UNDER SAME CATEGORIES.

RULE WILL WORK ON ALL THOSE SOCIOLOGY LECTURERS.
my dear, what u said really makes no sense.
it's either u r practicing law or u r teaching law, (it's like saying u can be a judge n practice litigation as well. impossible).
doctors who teach also practice. it's standard practice, thats why it's called a teaching hospital(but in same institution).
same for pharmacy.

u can be a full-time lecturer in one institution and the same time be an ADJUNCT(which basically means part-time) in another institution. it's actually against civil service rule to be full-time in more than one govt establishment.

Sometimes when you respond to an issue you have no information about or based political ptopaganda you end up sounding stupid.

1. Lecturers earn 30 to 40 percent of their salaries in any other institution as adjunct staff.

2. Most of your courses in various universities wi not be accredited if you abolish adjuncts.

3. The same FG will put a cap on employment and through NUC set up lecturer to stidents ratio.

4. You apply for waiver and your waiver is turned down.

5. If universities are to admit based on the number of lecturers available, only about 1% of those who apply for admission through JAMB will be admitted.

Having said that

ASUU is not hiding adjunct lecturers. ASUU is saying that IPPIS doesn't have the capacity to accommodate the perculiarities of the University system.

The law establishing federal universities is an act of the national assembly which has granted autonomy to institutions with governing councils to oversea their activities.

Puttung the unis on ippis will violate the autonomy

IPPIS is not designed to accommodate tge retirement age of 70 for Prof

It cannot handle external assessments
It cannot handle promotions

oga leave that yarn.
IPPIS is a software, the section for university lecturers can be programmed to accommodate the "perculiarities" u just mentioned.
they r just speaking big grammar.

the other thing i would wish govt should impose on these arrogant lots is that at the end of every semester, students r mandated to fill out an online evaluation form, assessing the teaching competence of the lecturer that handled that course.

and this evaluation will determine if they still keep their jobs for the next school year, or even get promoted. let me then see how a lecturer would boldly harrass or ask students for money/sex for grades.

Some schools are doing that already. May be you should ask the FG go find out how they do it.

I won't argue with you further. You may have been a victim of lecturers high handedness.

So nothing I say will make any sense to you. That's understandable?

The Social Media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie has responded to the rejection of the Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System IPPIS by the Academic Staff Union of University ASUU.

Lauretta Onochie in her statement stated that every lecturer should be committed to one University that pays their salaries per month.

She said,

Ignorant fool.
Is the university meant for skill acquisition or knowledge and research?
It never ceases to amaze me how this semi-illiterate comes to speak for the presidency

I don't agree with u on this, practicing or updating ur self through research is different from working for multiple institutions (they do it only for money), there'll be no commitment and they're seizing another people's job.

You almost made sense tho'

But Government isn't against them practicing their profession, Government is only against receiving multiple salaries from multiple institutions thereby reducing the level of commitment they have on their jobs.

Breaking it down further, a lecturer working with U.I will say he's going on sabbatical in Unilag and he receives Salary from both UI and Unilag, so govt is saying, only one salary is enough for one lecturer and if he feels like doing more, it's due to benevolence.
Being on sabbatical is a standard practice.
All senior lecturer and above are entitled to sabbatical leave once every six years. This doesn't stop the salary at the primary place of work

They can have other jobs.It is evil telling someone not to have multiple streams of income and it is wrong to be teaching as a full time staff in two or more federal universities and earning two or more salaries from the same pause, while many unemployed Masters and PhD holders are roaming the street. The IPPIS is mapped out to engage you only to one Federal appointment.

You are free to engage your services in other private institutions on part time bases or other universities as a consultant.

We keep calling youths leaders of tomorrow but don't want to create space for them
Well said.

I almost liked your post but for this. grin
