Mr educated illiterate, Lagos is not a Yoruba State! Awori, Bini and the rest can lay claims to Lagos not Yoruba. Go and read history d.ummy. That people keep quiet doesn't mean they are fools. In a sane environment, Lagos is supposed to have a Mayor not governor.

Lagos was a Federal enclave and developed by the Fed not one stoopid Yoruba governor so, it's wrong for one governor to wake up and say Yoruba language should be used in schools or offices [/b][/quote]Why are you fools separating the Aworis from Yoruba. Aworis are Yoruba people stop been mischievous.

Since he became governor IMO state development Nairaland thread has been stagnant.

There has been no record of any development or anything.

Even IMO state government website stagnant nothing is going on in the state.

With all the way he complained about Rocha's you would think he was coming to the states to do wonders but nothing.

Great feet I expect all South East and South South governors to do same. We need a language for cohesion.

In the north, Hausa is the main language. So also should their be a common language in the south.

the quality of education in the East especially in Imo State is very bad.
Imo people are not educated and they even have comprehension issues as they mostly don't understand English.

What if I don't want to learn Igbo, since I'm from Aniocha North in delta state??

Will it be compulsory for non Igbo like me??
I don't think learning should be compulsory, but wait what is the name of your language? i know Aniocha is an Igbo word. I don't mind how or with who you wish to be identified, but I need to know your ethnicity. It's confusing to me when people speak Igbo or bear Igbo names say Iam not Igbo, I it's better to say I am Ikwerre, Ukwuani, Kwale or any other identity. So Igbo speakers will understand.

This is the pinnacle of hypocrisy.

Illiterate dullard! Awori, ijebu, Ilaje, etc are not Yorubas. That in modern times, Yoruba is used to generally describe them by the media doesn't mean they are Yorubas. Go do some research Mr Dullard
Meanwhile, you will claim to be educated if they’ ask you

In essence, Ngwa people are not igbo because they speak a distinct dialect of igbo?

You are not wise by any stretch of imagination

You are very correct. They are not Yoruba.

The Ijebu they speak is an Igbo language mixed with French and Portuguese. It is just coincidental that Ijebu dialect and Ondo dialect are almost similar.

In fact Ijebus migrated from Nri, Igboland and moved Westward. As for the Aworis, those ones are pure Fulani. Their dialect bears witness to the fact that they are descended from Usman Dan Fodio.

Nobody is forcing Igbo on anybody. But for the interest of South South and South East, we need a common language. And combining these two regions Igbo language is the most popular. These two regions need cohesion to foster strong economic development. And language will be a great deal. What Igbos need to do also is to teach other smaller tribes the art of business. Together we become a great people.
