By the way,

I would reallly love to know what part of the average Naija man's brain processes that word- PROSTITUTE. It is usually one of the first resort when they wanna insult a lady. I find it very crass, ghettoish and downright low. Something you should only get from people straight outta the slum. Once someone says that, I strike the person off- not like it matters anyway. Who am I?

The opposite of a taxi driver should actually be a rider/passenger. Someone skips all that and goes straight to PROSTITUTE. Tells more about the person than the passenger. Tbh

When putting people in place, if at all you are very sure they were being CONDESCENDING- there is how it is done with class and tact. One needs to learn this skill, so you don't go exchanging words with every irate customer like an agbero, thus reinforcing the stereotype about drivers.

I can go on and on, but I don't see the insult in that statement. And then calling her a prostitute makes the matter worse.

But then..... What do I know

Well...
It all depends on their interaction over the phone before the text though.

I'm a very reasonable individual, I was online past 12am to work. This is business to me, so profitability is prioritized. The moment her request came in, I called and used ma all through my conversation even till the point I discovered the trip isn't gonna be profitable to me. I noticed the rudeness in conversation but decided to suck it up, Las Las na my money I go collect. The moment I told her the reason why I couldn't make the trip, She got even more aggravated and ended the call with a hiss. So, if I reply in same manner she did, I perfectly understand the context of her words.

I'm more informed...

..that I pay my people to much grin

Just joking. My people deserve all they get and more... Most of the time.

It makes sense why people resort to some of the things they do. But it doesn't change that sometimes it's penny wise, pound foolish. One has to think of ways to cater to that demographic. If it means in the future having a budget brand separate from our main brands that strictly deals in "rigging" and tokunbo parts to keep you going with full disclosure, that may be an option but one would have to do research to see if it is worth the potential problems. Yes, we know how to rig but don't.

At one point, EgunMogaji2 was talking about potentially opening an American style junk yard. If something like that was available, that demographic would be a lot easier to serve.

This I think we really need in naija.

Boss nice to say you can see through the lens, some can use you are mad on you and you will just laugh it off, same you are mad can lead to stabbing, its all in the context and time ofusage. There is nothing wrong in calling cab man, taxi or any name, but ppl should note just as fashion designer won't accept obioma/tailor same way uber drivers won't accept taxi driver grin (Just for joke). But one thing I'll lyk Gazzuz to understand is this, you accepted "Mechanic" today, probably because you have made your mark and find fulfillment being one, if you come back to the world again, you will obviously like to come back as one. The only thing I could decode from the text of that lady, was a message sent to spite someone, I am not in place to tell if getting back at her is right or wrong. A rider once sent a text of "it won't b better for her enemy" for declining her ride, me I did not reply cos I count it as an effort in futile, I honestly can't do the job of her parents at dat age.
And to even think that she wrote the 'taxi driver in capital letters'. I'm sure the so called intelligent people didn't see that.

I totally understand. I was just concluding from what you typed earlier. But how the conversation played out matters too

But then, you shouldn't have still called her a PROSTITUTE(my opinion). You had already declined the trip. No need for that insult

I took one trip to “gate” in Ibadan and 10,000 wild horses can’t drag me back. It was a totally chaotic and unorganized mad house.

Another perspective. I thought along that line (first). Maybe she meant- "that is your job, to pick people up. Under the sun and in the rain".

But lots of drivers are pretty insecure of their jobs, even though they claim otherwise. This makes them unnecessarily defensive.

If she had said "that is why you are a/the CEO"...ermmm, would that be considered an insult? I don't think so grin grin
Of course u will always find another perspective because the rider is a woman?
@bold because someone is an engineer, he has no right to choose location for construction, even if it is sambisa forest?
To many of u a taxi driver is a slave and must accept every nonsense thrown at him?
Because someone is an uber driver doesn't mean he has lost the right to decline unfavourable and threatening trips. If his vehicle get damaged in the process of trying to be a yes man, will the rider or uber fix the car for him?
When some people talk i just know they haven't own a tyre in their entire life, because if u have used a car and know how frustrating it is to keep repairing samething in a vehicle, u won't invite uber driver to certain location as a rider.

Lol. Yes it is. I will be really surprised if a prostitute takes offence for being called just what she is - A PROSTITUTE. Especially when she is on the job and we are all sure she is one cheesy

Well ultimately, that’s what it will come to.

You say you’re trying to cater to the demographics that can’t afford your services as at now by ‘rigging’ and dealing in tokunbo parts.

Those parts (inferior and tokunbo) fail like kilode.

Like it was noted, the upper middle class is growing and people are beginning to appreciate value in these parts.

@45k salary? A bag of rice is 26kplus. I am not sure you realize that there's no such thing as middle class in this country. Its simply the rich and the poor.

What rubbish is this one talking about. Living up to your username or what?

Did I at any point say a driver shouldn't choose destination?

What is my business if you people choose destinations? It is your right. If there is anything I have ever said as regards drivers and riders altercations- it is, be civil and professional about it.

Enough of this you people have never owned a car. I drive a 2015 SUV, been driving it since 2017. I know what it takes to fix a car!

So, you all should please learn to keep your emotions in check. The world isn't out to get drivers okay?

Too much sense here.

Gazzuzz don't accept any vehicle below 2000 at his workshop. He don't even accept Honda Civic and some other specs but HE'S A MECHANIC undecided and signed up and advertised as one.

Radautoparts had to turn down some certain repair job brought to her because she can't meet up.... BUT SHE'S A MECHANIC undecided and signed up and advertised as one.

No time were they dragged that... That was what they signed up for... As a MECHANIC your duty is to repair cars. When you start selecting cars and turning others down because it didn't favour you for reason best known to you, then the UBER Driver has his own right to turn down trips that didn't favour him.

No, I am pissed o. I don't know the correlation between my post and his. I have condenmed rude and unsympathetic FEMALE riders in the past. Even my first post to someone here I did agree riders are a handul and look down on drivers. So, at what point did people like me think drivers have no choice?

I work in a service oriented industry too. So, I will be the very last person to look down on drivers or anyone doing a legitimate hustle. I might make some posts to troll, but aside that- I respect people's hustle. No one should give me a bad name biko.

Nobody is blaming the driver for rejecting her trip.... That's not the issue

The issue was how she called him a TAXI DRIVER and he responded by calling her a PROSTITUTE

Gazzuz and Rd autoworks own their platforms.

If I am self employed, I can choose to reject jobs. However as an employee/partner I may not have that leverage, depending on the terms of my employment/ agreement.
