I didn't want to have to do this. Now what?

"......you're able to make yourself available or cancel allocated booking........"

And goes further to recommend drivers should go offline to avoid being banned.

Isn't same thing we are saying?

The first paragraph already gives the drivers power to take trip or cancel trips.

The second paragraph is an advice to curtail too much cancellation to avoid bans. And that's what UBER does, when a driver cancels too much, he gets blocked.

That's why we say it is not within the power of any rider to tell drivers to take his car off platform because he cancels trips, UBER will decide that when the driver exceeds the threshold. You may argue that UBER frowns at cancellation over bad roads or destination, but the partnership agreement already gives the drivers power to cancel trips over a certain range.

This is Nigeria, roads are bad, drivers can choose to avoid certain roads to protect his car/investment, he has a lifeline in the right to cancel trips over a certain range as permitted by the agreement. I will not put my car in danger because of UBER, which doesnt take any responsibility for damage on my car, when I can simply cancel as long as I'm still safe to do that.

I don't see a reason why riders should be angry when a driver cancels a trips as long as the driver is still safe to cancel, just book another trip.

That's why DRIVERS ARE THEIR OWN BOSSES.

A driver can reject/cancel trips if he doesnt want it, when he cancels to a level is when he gets banned and that is for UBER/bolt to decide, riders should know that.

It is ignorant my bro. I always try not to look down on anybody, okada, petroleum attendant, molue or anyone. Hustle is hustle and you don't have to do white collar jobs before you should be respected on your jobs. It is just so appailing that some people who aren't even doing as good as some people with blue collar jobs look down on them because they aren't doing office jobs.

I hope all the "you're employees of Uber/bolt because you work on their platform......" can read that "You're your own boss"

Let's cure our ignorance. Too much grammar or wrong use of technicalities to twist fact doesn't connote brilliance. Again, "Drivers are their own bosses and aren't employees of uber". Let's be properly guided next time.

AND TO BOSSES, ANY CONDESCENDING RIDER THAT TRIES BULLY YOU WITH "BUT YOU WORK WITH UBER AND AS SUCH YOU SHOULD TAKE ME TO ANYWHERE AND DO ANYTHING" EDUCATE THEM WITH THIS FACT THAT YOURE YOUR OWN BOSS AND DONT WORK WITH UBER BUT A PARTNER. THEY ARE JUST POMPOUS IGNORAMUSES, TEACH THEM. BUT ANY OF THEM THAT FAILS TO BE TAUGHT, REJECT THEIR TRIP AND GO PEACEFULLY.

PEACE!!!!

you've said it all bro.

You see why some of you don't know jack about what is there for drivers. This thread is for drivers and drivers know that the more you cancel, the more your activity score goes down till they temporarily suspend you. As a rider, you don't stand anything to loose. 99.9% of the time, it's the driver that uses his credit to call you and you still feel entitled. When you go to book yellow taxi that charges you double of Uber, do you vex for them even when you use your two legs to go find them.
The only time you stand to loose is when the driver has arrived and you may loose 400 for the aborted trip. And by the way, just as you have uber and bolt, the drivers have both too and can decide to leave your request till eternity.

So you feel the riders just book Uber because they are bored and like moving aimlessly around Lagos? A riders time and money is valuable. So I take offense when you say we don't have anything to lose.

As for the yellow taxi, you cant vex for them because you don't have any expectations of them coming to pick you rather you flag down or go to their locations. Uber promised us to expect the driver.

And you're spoilt with choices bro. When one driver cancels, make another request. Simple.

A driver can't neglect the lifeline he has in the partnership, which is to cancel trios over a certain range, because he wants to please a rider.

I was expecting him to ignore. After all, you Don cancel..... Wetin remain?

I once picked one silly girl that was very insultive. She put Yaba as destination and asked me to pass Ago palace way(from Festac). She then later said she's going to Aswani side.

I then made a comment like "That road is bad oh". Opari grin

She started talking and talking how drivers are proud and all rubbish.... That if I don't want to drive, I should go home and sleep

I was just saying "Yes ma"... She got more pissed because I wasn't responding to her talks.. She continued and I was just silent. At few intervals, I'll say "Yes ma".

As she pay me, I just look her with disgust and zoomed off.... The saliva wey I go use ask God to uplift me, na him I wan waste on top person wey I no sabi? grin

My point? Ignore...

I want to assume most drivers don't look at the riders ratings again. Once I see u have a low rating and you are a lady, I will just prepare my mind, if your tune on d phone is somehow
I will either cancel without telling u or go their and ignore any insult.
I've dropped a unilag girl before with plenty loads in d booth and she said oga pls help me bring my bags to d house and she went inside.
I sat in d car for minutes not knowing what to do?
Las las I carry bag inside oh. Saw her gisting with her friends on bed.
Uber says I shouldn't do that, but did it for peace

May be 7 days times your average daily earning plus fuel amount that will take you to onitsha

Just don't be too greedy about it. It is a good deal as you won't be burning much fuel when u get to your destination as you do on normal day with uber

I personally have no issues with a driver who cancels, but cancel on your driver's app. If you depend on the riders to cancel so you can continue your business, then .......

You did it for peace, which was good.

All depends on mood, at times on a certain day, you may not do that. Another driver may decide not to do that, that doesnt make the driver wrong also, but some riders will think it is wrong because some drivers do it.

I never expect Uber drivers to help me with bags because I know they are not chauffers. They are private individuals giving people rides for a fee. Overseas they don't help you with bags and we don't expect them to. Some nice ones do but it's not part of the job description. Rider's protect their ratings there because no one will come carry you. I suggest you guys start doing the same if you're not already doing so. Rating can be seen BEFORE accepting the trip

Yes, but drivers do cancel from their app. And the anger is that drivers cancel trips.

At the bolded, the fact drivers cancel trips doesnt mean they don't provide services, they only reject that particular service. And it is allowed. They only get bounced when it is too much.

Sounds like a classic case of self entitlement. I will take this platform which provides me with a steady and reliable stream of riders, but I will use kabu kabu mentality.

"I am my own boss."

Who is the alpha in this partnership? Who is the one laying out the conditions? Who is the one kicking people off the platform?

You are your own boss, start your taxi company. Some of the people here 'who are not uber' have their own fledgling companies and are hear to gain insights.

Eateries, major petrol stations, supermarkets, are all partnerships between a big company and a dealer. The company provides support and infrastructure, the dealer sells the companies goods and acts within their policies.

The dealer is also his own 'boss'. But in most cases the corporation calls the shots

Uber has the upper hand. There are far more people willing to become riders at even more stringent conditions

This woman has given a very valid measure.

There are bad drivers and bad riders.

When drivers take to this measure, riders will know there are consequences for bad behaviours and drives have leverage to an extent to reject their trips. They will be more responsible
