Dru, Nigeria is ranked amongst the top 3... the Egypt u mentioned is beneath us.
The aim of every investor is to grow (largely acceptable), losing one out of your top 3 stronghold should make u sit up and yes losing Nigeria is a big deal to them.

yeah, i read through the story. and they got caught almost immediately. that says uber is monitoring, even if they are mum about it

Uber and Bolt only give more attention to riders. They have no protection for drivers

That car was probably hunted down with the help of a tracker, not Uber

People use fake names to register on Uber. I have picked riders with names like Jesus, Olokpa, etc... If this person commits a crime, how can Uber help in tracking him when they don't have a photo, no address, no ID and a phone number with rubbish details

You (the rider) are the one protected and being watched on Uber. The driver is in God's hands only

Compensation? For what now.. according to the consensus DRIVERS ARE THEIR OWN BOSS grin grin
Well that's not my point bro, I'm just trying to let him see more reasons why drivers will have to bend some rules that do not favour them, rules that have cost some their lives

And uber did not change any of their policies afterward?

Interesting.

When we had a death on a site, the fallout was massive. So many things were changed.

I am frankly surprised that uber has not made any changes (or so you say) to their operations.

Then again, if they were able to catch the thieves immediately, it tells you they actually are tracking riders even if you think they are not doing so
Why nw, why why why do you always find ways to twist everything inside out. Where did you read it that uber ever caught a rider that killed a driver?
Okay let's even assume they do track riders, did the tracking save the driver's life?

It's really terrible,i really feel for those that commute to there place of work and business through public bus. These two days I had to enter or have been using public bus and like has been hell. We have to squeeze ourself, inhale carbon two oxide (Co) from all these trucks, heat coz no AC.... Men its crazy out here and workers pass through these everyday, if there is traffic transporters increase fare, take advantage.. Wow, I use to do all these and didn't see it as stress but when I tested another, something better and different I now know how difficult that is..

Uber added the SOS button and also sent some security advice warning/advice to partners
They also added the "share your location" thingie for drivers & riders
Bolt now asks drivers to ask for destination as from 9pm I think, but what about long trips that would start around 5pm but because of traffic end around 10pm in a very unsafe environment. That's why the rules have to be bent

That sos button thingy won't do much, because you may not even have access to your phone during an attack, best bet is to avoid it when you can

How is that any of Uber's doing?

Check the few previous pages one by one, there are some ads for wanted drivers, may be you could see one.

So am at one fleet management company where I went to have a meeting with one of the manager and the driver I want to take over the car he is driving. What I saw gave me a chill down my spin on the situation of the country bro...... They are having interview for drivers mass, men there is over supply of drivers and under supply of cars to drive. What am seeing in the atmosphere is the employee employer mindset, it's suppose to be a driver car owner partnership under the facilitation of the fleet management company..its a though terrain put here. God please help me to qui

PS.. I just drop or return the corolla that I was complaining bitter about, after hanging on for as much as I could- what broke the camel back was when car owner refuse to replace two tires that have twisted, with bomps(coco) and the wires already showing.

you really don't understand, do you?

Our police will only solve cases when they are induced or under pressure
those shoprite thieves who were rounded up almost immediately - why do you think it happened? because por poiter in chief wanted to make a clear statement

And how does this relate to uber in nigeria or Nigerian law?
Uber isn't hallucinating when it calls drivers partners and their own bosses. With you owning and driving your car, you have freedom to reject any unfavourable trip without having to lick ass to meet target.

You keep arguing back and forth like you're in the game.... Like you were ever in the game. Haba

I don't know your area of expertise, but I wouldn't argue with you when you speak if I have no real life knowledge about it.... But in your case, you keep assuming and assuming. Not fair

I have hung out with drivers countless times at Chevron, VI, Allen, Ikeja GRA and others. I can't count how many times I've slept in a car. Drivers die... Not one, not two, not five sef. I know a driver in a whatsapp group that was killed at Oshodi. We even contributed in the group to assist him wife.

Stop arguing about what you've never experienced. This job is very risky at night. People who drive their cars alone at night are robbed and kidnapped, how much more someone picking up somebody he doesn't know

let me break it down to you in terms you will understand

UBER is why people enter your car. without uber, you are simply a dodgy looking guy in a corolla
take you car round lagos and offer people rides and see how many will enter

or let me put it a different way

there are a lot of independent fuel marketers out there.
the moment an independent partners with a major marketer, brands in the marketers colours, his sales can go up by 50 - 70%
that is the strength of the brand
what brand do you have?
do you have anything that would bring a rider to you?
or you think the sole factor between uber and yellow cabs is price?

why do you think uber insists on AC, and that your car is in good condition and not below a certain age

because that is part of their brand
See the number of offline contacts I have. More than 51 and counting, I removed "OFF" from the names of some that now have very close relationships with me. This should shut you up... at least for now

Bruv, read that link again and tell where me Egypt is ranked first as culled by you in your previous post.
From same link, u can see Southafrica and Kenya are the only two countries ahead of Nigeria while Ghana is directly beneath us.
I am not here to argue though, just highlighting the mistake on what you said about Egypt bin number one.

A bank can track anyone easily because they have your data: Address, ID, Utility bill, biometrics, and all that

How is it possible for Uber to track a rider just with a phone number as the only submitted info?

I think he understands. He just doesn't want to believe that Uber(as big as they are) don't have provisions for drivers safety

Mm1 and mmia, let rider come and meet you in the car park so you can start the trip from there. As for mm2, like I was told, even if you start the trip in the plane bolt will not add shishi, no car park fee for mm2
