Good development. I use to watch some Saturday 3 o'clock matches for last season. But I don't know why they aren't showing this season

They took the signals from Kwese Free Sports last season, but Kwese Free Sports collapsed in June or July.

I watched Bournvita Match of the Day on the NTA in the 1980s (it was shown at 10pm). The opening montage had a clip of an old man at a stadium. The man was gesticulating as if he was the one playing the ball on the pitch.

Some league games were shown on the NTA in the 1990s, courtesy of Pepsi. Highlights were also shown on some sports shows that were sponsored by Pepsi, e.g. Pepsi The Best of Football (hosted by Godwin Dudu Orumen).

Some games were also shown in the 2000s, when the league was sponsored by Globacom.

They were showing the games courtesy of Kwese Free Sports. Kwese had the rights at that time. However, Kwese TV collapsed around June or July and NTA hasn't been showing the games since then.

Now the NTA have partnered with a private Nigerian company to get the rights.

THE Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has acquired sub-licensed rights to one English Premier League fixture per match week.

The deal was brokered by Integral Sponsorship and Expe-riential Marketing, a Nigerian sports marketing company, after Infront agency sold rights on the public auction market.

The Nigerian footballing community has welcomed the news with opened arms and happy to be able to finally watch their favorite sports content tomorrow.
