So the Igbos killing the Hausa prime minister had nothing to do with why the second coup occurred or the aftermath that triggered the civil war ?
Your history teacher need to be put to death, let us hope that is neither your father or mother but if they are well may their souls rest where there bigoted, hatefilled soul deserves according to the judgement your Igbos dish out to political leaders from other tribes.

LZAA:
First of nzeogwu was never going to be ojukwu's head of state as the coupists had no design for power
Second the counter coup of july 66 and the subsequent killings by the north caused d war
All is fair in war of course so ojukwu's moves while poor attimes was d mandate given to him by the people
Please don't spill lies cause of igbophobia

Nzeagwu was trained by Ahmadu bello like his biological child, but that same Nzeagwu brutally killed Ahmadu Bello and his pregnant wife. That is the reason northerners will never trust an Igbo man with power again.

Not at all. They didn't cause it and they didn't start it. An Igbo coup did. Nigeria's first elected leader who was a Northerner was assassinated in the coup. Some Northern elites were targeted and killed while Igbo politicians were either out under house arrest or 'went on leave', just like Nnamdi Azikiwe.

The soldiers didn't stop their, they posted bloodied pictures of assassinated Northern leaders on walls in the North and even shared the graphic details of the assassinations with their Northern soldiers who were lesser in rank.

No doubt, the coup failed because Nzeogwu who led the coup and Ojukwu never agreed. The former was a younger colleague to Ojukwu and Ojukwu who knew about the coup ab initio foiled it to prevent a younger soldier from becoming his head.

The North retaliated the attack by killing innocent Igbos residing among them. In the East, a reprisal followed but it wasn't as strong as that of the North.

Ojukwu had plans, no doubt, he foiled the coup for one major reason, to get Nzeogwu who was younger in rank out of the way. That wasn't just it, Oil had been discovered in the then Old Eastern Region roughly three years before the war. Ironically, the North had wanted to pull out of Nigeria prior to the discovery of oil (14 years before the war) but Azikiwe read the riot act to the Northern Elites in Yaba, in 1953.
https://nigerianwiki.xyz/nnamdi-azikiwes-secession-speech-of-1953/

Ojukwu wanted an independent nation all for oil. The secession act was a bargaining chip that failed. Gowon called his bluff, rescinded on their accord in Aburi and Ojukwu declared Biafra. It was only natural that a sovereign Nigeria will fight to keep her territory together.

When food supplies were cut in Port Harcourt, Ojukwu was handicapped at that moment but he never stopped fighting. Stashed foods were moved into his residence to first take care of his family and then his generals. Hunger crept in and first it was water, then lack of protein. To live, starving Igbos fed on burnt corpses as meats, a horrible but natural survival instinct.

When help arrived via Médecins sans Frontières, it wasn't for long as Ojukwu wanted to use their planes for transport of ammunitions. For choosing to remain neutral, Ojukwu rejected further help for his people and asked BBC journalists (now late, can't recall their names) to report the situation of his people, with the intent that he'd get free foreign hand to assist in the war. Note that Ojukwu started the war with allied countries just as Nigeria and a handful of foreign veteran war mercenaries who left after they no longer got paid.

Eventually, he lost the war as it was obvious it wasn't about protecting his people and territory but also wanting to seize Lagos. His soldiers were greatly defeated and repelled at Ore. A man who never took counsels realized he had failed, took his two kids and fled to Abidjan, leaving his second in command to surrender.

How then is the North responsible for the war?
Lool he’s a typical Igbo man
He put his own family first for food

Stop talking like an ignoramus. The coup was conducted early in the morning but was not successful everywhere, especially Lagos. Nzeogwu actually wanted to mobilise troops to head down to Lagos and contact Ojukwu. However, Ojukwu refused to join the coup. Nzeogwu had mo other choice than to surrender. Why would Ojukwu refuse to participate in a coup he is sponsoring?

It doesnt matter who the North trusts with power or who they dont trust with power, it's not what will get Nigeria out of being poverty capital of the world

So it would have been better for Ojukwu to relax and let Nigeria kill him? Is that how bravery is proved?

Ojukwu fought for 3 years under difficult conditions, to free his people. Those who call him a coward for not staying back to be used for target practice by Nigerian Soldiers are the same people who have never fought for even 3 minutes for their freedom

Even the Biafran Soldiers who were sent to the war front, of which my father was one, were taught that if things got bad, to escape because a Soldier who lives, lives to fight another day. No Soldier is taught to relax and wait to be killed, least of all Ojukwu

Odumegwu Ojukwu was no hero. I wonder why history has been distorted and lies being fed to the people. He caused the death of over a million of his people and then promptly ran away to another country. Only for him to come back and contest for the presidency of a country he waged a war of secession against.

That is not the definition of a hero.

No doubt that the Biafran Soldiers were not as equipped as Nigerian Soldiers. But nobody expects a Soldier who is about to be overwhelmed and killed to present himself to the enemy for slaughter, especially if he has an escape route. Only a foolish person hands himself to his enemies on a platter of gold to be slaughtered

Of what benefit would a dead Ojukwu have been to Biafra? The only people who would have benefitted from Ojukwu staying back to die would have been Nigeria. They would have killed him, paraded his body before the world media and ridiculed the Biafrans that their leader had been killed. Why would Ojukwu let that happen? Ojukwu denied Nigeria that sweet by escaping.

Ojukwu gave it a good fight for 3 years and when he could no longer continue, he left. Those who call him a coward are those who never fought for their freedom for even 3 minutes, let alone 3 years.

It would have been very foolish of Ojukwu to allow himself to be slaughtered like a Chicken when he had the means to escape. Waiting to be slaughtered by your enemy is not an act of bravery, it is an act of pure stupidity and Ojukwu was not a stupid man.

Are you saying the Biafran soldiers who obeyed Ojuku and were sharing 1 rifle barefoot without boots against a Nigerian army of armoured tanks are foolish?

So you expected the Biafran soldiers to have fled like Ojuku when they were overpowered?

What was the benefit of a runaway Ojuku to Biafra? The moment he fled, all his soldiers and Generals were betrayed and they just resigned, when a person telling you to fight till death was hiding in a bunker and later fled the warfront. When he came back and married his own god daughter did he actualize Biafra?

WHen he came back and contested to be a senator and president of the same country he wanted to break away from, what was the benefit to Biafra

which good fight did Ojuku give it? DId you ever see him on the warfront? Everyone is brave if you have to sit in a safe place and dish out orders and sleep with your wife every night while soldiers are in the bush under the sun and rain

Video of Gowon on exile in England

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIh-pfAqPPA

General Yakubu Gowon, the Nigerian military head of state who was deposed in a coup on July 29th 1975, is filmed on his arrival at Gatwick Airport on Tuesday night, August 12th 1975, on his way to rejoin his family who were in London at the time of the putsch.

Gowon had arrived from Lome, the capital of Togo, where he had been staying since he left Uganda on August 1st. It was not known at the time whether Gowon would take his family to Togo. He was later granted leave to stay in the United Kingdom where he took up studies at Warwick University.

He studied Political Science and earned himself a doctorate for his thesis entitled "The Economic Community of West African States: A Study in Political and Economic Integration".
