I don't understand what you are trying to pass across. All criminals get their guns legally? Some criminals get their guns legally? At least be clear on what you are trying to say.

And I put it to you that in the US it is impossible for a criminal to get a gun legally. Even if you are buying from a family or friend there must be a registration process which includes background checks.

And in any case, the statistics are clear that the vast majority of criminals either steal their weapons or buy them on the black market.
