Funny how people don't understand that when the word 'International' is used, its meant to mean anything other than the language of the domiciled country of an organization or anything presenting same.

The movie academy is a US-based body which hitherto had been awarding movies produced in the US (Hollywood), it was only to broaden its scope it decided to include movies produced elsewhere (International) by setting up a category called 'Best Foreign Movie which it changed to International.

The rules still remained the same, movie must not be predominantly written in English language which if done, would be akin to creating a category to directly compete with Hollywood movies which is not what the case is meant to be.

It isn't too surprising that lion heart was disqualified

The hype on that movie was too high but the content was way lower than what we expected

I couldn't understand the direction and meaning of the movie till it ended
The likes of Pete edochie, phyno, rudeboy and others was just what attracted me to the film

But I sincerely regretted the 2 hours I wasted watching that trash

Nigerians should stop whining like lost puppies. The name of the category changed but not the rules. What the rule is posed to do is to ensure foreign movies are done in the language of the country where they're from.

Yes, we speak English in Nigeria, but it is not an Indigenous language. If English speaking movies from foreign countries were to be considered, then the competition would become too stiff for Hollywood. They wouldn't want that.

All these unnecessary brouhaha arose from fundamental misinterpretation of the rules and over-assumption by Genevieve's advisers.

Genevieve should accept this challenge and create a monster wazobia movie that will throw the Oscar people off their fu*king chairs.

Everyone is just showing support to Genny so they'll promote themselves too. Lemme try that pattern.

This news self is giving the movie and Genny lots of popularity and it will surely pay off. Just keep up the good work Naija.

Oya na. Did you know that it's not only 3D logos that I do? I can also type out that your motivational speech that you want to use for your blog in record time.
Send a message today and ask me if I can do it. I promise I will say Yes. grin

I've always said it over and over again. 90% of Igbos carry English language for head like gala and they've lost their indigenous cultural values. How many Igbos bear English names out of shame for their own indigenous Igbo names? How many Igbo movies are out there?

They think speaking English equates sophistication. They claim they're Nollywood while they refer to Yoruba movies as Yorubawood. Rubbish!

Although, majority of Nigerian movies are trash but, at least, the Yoruba movies are recognized as the real Nollywood to the international community as it's indigenous! cool

Btw... the movie is too overrated!

The only sensible comment since this whole thing started is from that Deyemi guy who rightly said that demand to see Lionheart will double or triple after this whole thing. Indeed any form of publicity is good publicity

There's no big deal about this movie to be honest. I've seen better.

I started watching it, but haven't found the time to finish it.

It got to where it got to because of who was in charge of it. The surprise would have been if the movie actually won any prize. The whites mostly don't allow sentiments becloud their sense of reasoning in matters like these.

These celebrities are just whinning because it's Genevieve's.

Overhyped movie. I lost interest halfway and was only praying for the borefest and torture I put myself to watch the movie to end quickly. The only positive from this movie is the forced co-operation/unity between Hausa and Igbo that it was trying to portray. On the other hand, businessmen will only do things profitable to them irrespective of tribe and religion. This cancels out the positive!
