IgbereTV reports that the yesterday, the Managing Director of Tiamini Rice Mill Limited, Aminu Ahmed said that an additional sum of $13,370,500 has been invested by Tiamin Rice Mill Limited to raise its production capacity from the current 320 tonnes to 1,520 tonnes per day.

Mr Ahmed made this known when he led the management team of the company on a courtesy call on the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Abhay Thakur, in his office in Abuja.

The MD said the policy of the present administration, especially the ban on smuggling and the interventions given to them by the Central Bank of Nigeria, have helped immensely in boosting local production of rice.

Mr Ahmed that the company which was established in 2016 in Kano started production of rice in 2018 with 320 tonnes per day would expand its existing production line from 320 tonnes to 920 tonnes next year, while a new production line would start production of 600 tonnes per day in Bauchi by May 2020.

He said, “We are now investing $13,370,500 to boost our production capacity to 1,520 tonnes per day. Already we have placed orders for all the machinery needed, and all arrangements are on top gear to meet the deadline we have set. By next year, we plan to become the biggest rice producers not only in Kano but in the whole country. Our watchword is quality and affordability. We produce one of the finest brands in Nigeria that can compete with foreign rice brands in terms of quality.

Mr Ahmed said that the durability of the Indian machines was secret behind the quality of Tiamin Rice. He then thanked the Indian High Commission for its support and sought further cooperation in the areas of easing trade relations between his company and Indian partners.

The high commissioner thanked Tiamin Rice for the courtesy call, and also for patronising Indian machines. Mr Thakur expressed hope that the policy of boosting local production would be sustained beyond the present administration to enable local industries in the country to grow.

While speaking to journalists after the visit, the Managing Director of Tiamin Rice expressed his appreciation to the federal government for their support in local rice production and to the state governments for the enabling environments given to the company.

This is what we should have been doing as a nation since we got our democracy, but it is unfortunate it wasn't so.
But we thank God we are getting things right in this nation after all.

This is a very good step in the right direction.
Everything will fall into pleasant places for us as a nation pretty soon.

God bless Nigeria.

Slow and steady we are getting to a new country.
A better Nigeria is all we want
Nigeria will be great again in our lifetime, and if not we are building a good foundation for our unborn kids all around the nation.

Imagine how much our nation would have progressed had our farmers been doing this since 1999/2000!
It is well.

God bless Nigeria.

At least Nigerians would be employed through this, but FG needs to set a price regulatory system to check into farmers inflating the prices

Nigeria as a nation do not willfully change its own dire condition until we are forced to do it without an alternative.

Thats the reason I keep saying that a good Military government is the best that can fix this country. Any progressive nation always use the best system of governance for its people. China, Gulf countries, United state, U.k, all practice different form of governance that best fits his people.

Still nonsense if a bag is more than 10k.
Countries focus of products with comparative advantage.
we used to buy rice less than N10k, & now more than N20k...why not focus on products like oil palm.
This govt's insensitive & clueless

They saw how congested the ports were in Lagos & still shut d land borders

When a bag of local rice is
costlier than the hitherto
Minimum Wage of 18k.

sad

Mind you, 3Ok is still in
audio form & many states will not pay .

Several states could not even pay
the 18k.

Try to be optimistic.

With this kind of mindset, I doubt if a person can do anything great in life. Why? Because it takes time to get things right. The most important traits of great people are optimism, perseverance and continuity.

Today a bag of local rice is expensive because we're new into the business. Over time, the forces of demand and supply, (public and private) funding and government policies will take effect.

This is also why some people will never start anything great in their life. They think you must have 95% of requirements before starting a business. Whereas, in reality, improvisation is what you'll be doing most of the time.

Don't be lazy, what are you contributing? which part are you playing? the soil in Ikorodu supports rice production. Stop shifting blame, all you stated is every Nigerians responsibility.

It's not about being optimistic. if yr products can't compete with others, then it's not a good product.
High quality rice of less than 10k, they stopped importation to force you to eat substandard one of more than N20k... it makes no sense to me. Do you prefer the Nigerian brand? Is that what they eat in their houses??

if u see d number of people coming for food in churches these days, you won't say this
