Hello chiefs, greetings.

Please I need professional counsel.

First, my background.

1. I'm a 4th year medical student. Married for five years now with two boys.

2. I have a B. Sc (second class upper) in Human Physiology (2012) and an M. Sc in the same field (2017). I've already done the compulsory National Service (2013/2014).

3. I am 30 years old.

4. My wife has a B. Sc in Human Anatomy (2012) and an M. Sc in Public Health (2017). She has four years work experience in the NGO sector.

Please my chiefs and seniors,
My primary focus is to move my family abroad. Yesterday, a senior friend of mine told me about PLAB...and the possibility of moving them over through this pathway.

I really don't want to waste any extra second. I want to ensure I get done with this process in the shortest possible time. At the moment, I'm even considering starting my attempts next year (my fifth year). This is where I need your counsel. Is the fifth year too early to start attempting? I'm considering how hectic house job is, don't know how one would have the time to study for the exams and all. Would my certificates give me any extra advantage?

Secondly, what advantage would my wife's qualifications offer? My senior friend mentioned that if she manages to find her way to nursing, her advantages would be enormous....even if she does Post Basic Nursing. Does she need to go that far?

Lastly, when I cross to the UK, how soon can I move them over?

I read that if I practice for a year in the UK, I can make it to Australia (my main target). Is this still true? Have their been any changes in recent times?

Finally, how can I access a residency program soonest? Is writing PLAB and all just for practicing overseas?

Thanks sirs and ma'ams.

Cc: Quanda and every other doc in the house that have gone through this process.

I may just assist to answer some of your questions to the best of my knowledge.
It will be better you finish writing your final year exams before writing PLAB so that you don't get distracted. You can start the English language test in your final year if you have the resources but better to leave all processes till after passing final MBBS exam. Your housmanship will assist in the necessary funds for the journey. Besides you can write all exams in one year if you have the resources and energy to study.
You can relocate your family immediately you get a job after passing Plab. It all depends on your finances.
It is easier to relocate to Australia with UK experience than with Nigerian experience.
Maybe some other persons can talk about your wife's chances.
I can only advise you on one thing. Leave this country as soon as you can and never listen to people who say you will make it in Nigeria as a doctor. The practice in Nigeria is a waste of time and talents.Besides,Nigeria has no plan for their present or future doctors.

You resume looks familiar. Good luck man. Don't write the exams until you graduate or you might ruine your chance of registration permanently. Also, as soon as you graduate start pushing to leave, it's certainly more rewarding. Cheers

Good evening my chiefs. I present cephalic.
I'm currently serving but I have primaries in internal medicine already.
Please, I have a question: how feasible is it to enter into residency program (in internal medicine) in UK after passing PLAB;
for someone who wishes to do residency, is it not better to kuku write MRCP?
Thanks as I patiently anticipate your responses.

Sorry to derail this thread. I just need lasting solution to my health issue from docs.
Doc just told me today to go for endoscopy. The top of my head is always hot(mild most times), I have sore throat, heartburn. Doc said I have GERD. Doc said i should use omreprazole and cimetidine, I used them and heartburn subsided but sore throat and upper head hotness remain but sometimes heartburn still occur and I use antacid to suppress. All these started November 2019 and since then till now, my life is miserable. I can not eat anything reasonable. All triggers of heartburn have been avoided yet sore throat, upper head hotness and heartburn(subsides when antacid us used) still occur. Norland gastroinstetinal softgel was suggested by another doctor, all these complaints subsided in the course of using the first bottle, after completion, am having symptoms again. Though planning to buy another Norland gastrointestinal softgel bottle again. I have done H.Pylori test (negative), sugar level (normal), bp (normal). Will this endoscopy be my final Bustop because I have tested alot of money. I am in Ogun state and I learnt Babcock University and Osuth that offer endoscopy. Does anyone know how much endoscopy is?

The truth of the day is that most employers will not pay you more than you need to live a decent life.

To make more money, you will need to build a side gig that will multiply your income. A multiple income increases your savings and investment portfolio and the bigger the portfolio, the wealthier you get.

This is why NJO has dedicated this year's annual webinar on PASSIVE INCOME.

Hello FosterMed,

I will appreciate if you could furnish me with some information as regards relocating. In addition I'd appreciate recommendations to other countries your knowledgeable about.

Is there any difference between studying medcine in state university and federal university.
In terms of employment opportunity, superiority at work, job opportunity, scholarship during the program, restriction to a particular hospital e.t.c
Consultant,
House officer,
500l to 600l students in the house, pls shed more light on this, may the Lord bless you all as you contribute to this topic.

There's no difference whatsoever. It's your license that takes preeminence and it's issued by a single government agency - the NMDCN...
