4 Great Places To Look For A Job by PatrickOkunima(m): 6:27am On Nov 09, 2019 |
“There are no jobs”! “Jobs are scarce”! These are some of the words on the lips of many people out there. They are not far from the reality on ground. Jobs are actually becoming scarce due to population pressure. However, saying that there are no jobs is an overstatement. https://patrickokunima.com/4-great-places-to-look-for-a-job/ 4 Likes

In as much as jobs are truly scarce, how many graduates are employable? I have witnessed first hand the problems involved in filling just a role. You will search and search, interview until your mouth bends to one side. Yet, you can't get a suitable candidate. Most of them don't know nada. They just carry papers around (certificates) while they're empty upstairs. They'll gather different certifications but can't handle a simple office task, very clumsy, disorganized and always absent minded. All in all, we should try to develop ourselves all-round so when the opportunity comes, we would be ready to prove ourselves. 18 Likes 1 Share |

If u like garner all the skills for dis life. If u no sabi person wey know person, wey know another somebody wey sabi people wey get influence. Just forget it. Sometimes I read on here some comments about venturing into a business line than work under someone. U still need money to go into business.. U have to work for someone so as to achieve ur goal. Nigeria overflow of milk and honey, but wicked people sit on top, tap it and stuff enough for their generation unborn. 11 Likes |

Your number 4 is the bomb. You need a very strong connection to get a good job in Nigeria.Hence, the only available job you can get in our Nigeria is a job who's salary is less than 40k. 2 Likes |

chinchonglee: Don't get me wrong. 'Develop' in the context I used it wasn't necessarily a working experience. What I meant was that they should be able to defend their degrees and all their certifications like I mentioned earlier. I kid you not bro, I've seen someone who claims to be an Accountant (Chartered) and could not use any accounting software. Habaa nah! Is that fair? And he was almost getting the job, that was his only undoing. The guy graduated a while back but has been working at a departmental store as a cashier or so. He didn't bother to even add to his skills. I found it hard to believe a so-called Chartered accountant couldn't use any software. But people don't believe these things when you tell them. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Hmmmm I remember those days when Nigerian Breweries called for a test. We we're almost 5,000 on the queue at Mobolaji Bank Anthony way. You needed to see the mobile policemen and the bouncers used for the screening. We wrote the test and I was among the few selected for interview. I woke up in the morning as early as 4am to be at the interview centre from Ajah, infact uncle had to help in taking me there despite the fact that he was to go to his own office by 6am. I got there 5am. The interview they said will start by 8am didn't start and early coming was one of the criteria. Suddenly! Two ladies came in by 9.30. The supervisor smiled at them and asked if they lost their way. They smiled back that yes. They were told to sit down Interview started and simple mathematical questions expected of a sales rep were asked. We submitted. After 10 minutes, the supervisor came back to call the names of the successful candidates. Guess the first two people on the list? THE LATE COMER GIRLS! Since then I knew jobs is a man know man thing. 13 Likes |

ceeroh: It's obvious that you don't really understand your job as HR. Perhaps, you not HR at all. It's is outright stupidity on anybody to say a Nigerian graduate cannot comprehend (not those that went to Ghana and Benin though). Most times people apply for fields that are different from their course of study. They obviously need some adjustment period or training, even if they have been working before. Switching from one company to another in the same industry, requires some adjustments, let alone switch to another industry. I have heard this stupidity been spoken by even the so called politicians. I could remember my first TV interview. I was stuttering. Meanwhile, I am VERY Sound. I can bet anything that some of those people you are calling dull will beat you hands down on head-to-head level. If We put the searchlight on you now and calculate your labour efficiency, we could be shocked. 6 Likes |

ehinmowo: Lol.. My labour efficiency is zero. Satisfied now? You don't have to take it personal though. I did not generalize, take note. Did I say all graduates? I know it takes time to adjust in a new industry, but there are basic things one should know how to do, basic things you stated in your resume shouldn't become rocket science overnight. That's what I was trying to say. 3 Likes |
