Thank you. Do you know of any factors that may hinder success of such an application?

My husband is canadian and invited me to spend Christmas with him. Schooling and working here in Nigeria. I have been to dubai and some other countries. It’s confusing.

@obilec, Now it's clearer, your husband is your Canadaian (strong) tie. So the Visa officer is probably thinking if you join him, you may end up overstaying and violating the visit visa policy. (As no job nor school can stop the bond of a married couple shocked)
So therefore, just as @Nothingdome has rightly proposed, the spousal sponsorship has been designed for this kind of scenario. I think you should ply that route.

I totally agree with you.

Once you declare that your spouse lives aboard, embassies (including Canada) rarely approve such visit visas except in emergency situations where the spouse just had to travel because of possible extreme situation of the husband/wife abroad. On a good day, they expect such spouse to explore spousal visas which take more time but have a higher success rate.

@Angie32, I really dunno, but my correspondence letter or BVL was addressed from London, so I assume it's London. However, request for passport, I personally asked the guy on duty if they were sending the passport to London for stamping, he said No, that it's in Lagos, so therefore I conclude passport stamping will be done in IRCC Lagos, that is probably why I wasn't charged for passport transmission, I have also recieved mail that it has been processed and is being sent to the VAC for collection, quite fast as compared to the 15days averagely to get the passport as told to me by same officer on duty.

As for review of eligibility, give it time probably 2weeks or less. I can't tell how long they will spend on your application.

Hope this helps......

From the recent trend, Online Applications seem more efficient in processing time and effective in terms of approvals, as compared to paper from mid year 2019, so if you are considering applying , you may want to try this route. (Please this is all my personal opinion, and can be wrong)

Documents submitted for Visit visa (online application)
Family/group application (3 people)
Primary Applicant:
*Travel history (shenghen, Valid US visa, S.A, etc)
*All border and visa stamps scanned in last 10yrs.
*Passport biopage
*forms filled, (family info IMM5645, use of fam rep. Imm5713,) since he has never been denied the optional form wasn't needed.
*Marriage certificate
*Digital photo according to requirements
*Purpose of travel( accomodation and flight booking 2weeks, Note: this two should complement each other, the day you land should be the day your accomodation booking starts, and the day you plan to check out should be your return or take off date. book return ticket oo, and you don't have to pay for these, they are dummy bookings)
*proof of relationship (my siblings birth certificate )
*Invitation letter (From my sibling, basically a letter of explanation inviting us to his graduation, attached with this is his study permit, transcript, school letter of completion, passport biopage)
*Proof of Funds (Note: in the invitation letter it was stated the primary applicant will sponsor us all) Bank letter showing no debts and funds are readily available, 6months Bank statement, 4months pay slip, letter of introduction from employer, treasury bills)
*Additional docs( one landed property, Family picture colour scanned labeling our names with a pen)
Spouse:
*Required forms were filled
*Credentials and id card scanned
*travel history (UK, West Africa)
*Visa and border stamps all scanned of last 10yrs
*Digital photo
Myself:
*Travel history (UK only grin)
*Digital photo
*Required forms were filled
*Supporting docs, (personal landed property, credentials, birth certificate
*Visa and border stamps all scanned of last 10yrs
Shikena.... cool

i was the representative, but dad was the primary applicant and sponsor, so mum and I didn't submit any account statement or proof of funds. The marriage certificate ties parents together and my birth certificate is the link to their union, My ties to naija seemed to be featherweight as compared to ties to canada and this is not good so I submitted my personal landed property. No letter of explanation was submitted from any of us, just my siblings invitation.

Hope this helps some one out there just as I got help here too.... my prayer is all those that applied here be favoured , Amen..

So nairaland family that's my final update.

Thankyou all so much, I posted this pics, so that people will know what it looks like for each milestone to be ticked.

So from above you will notice background check and biometrics are dated same. But in reality it wasn't same, review of eligibility and background check was still processing, this means after request for passport they are still doing their final check till stamped.
visas were given till passport expiry wink

If his business isn't registered with CAC, then its difficult to prove it's a legitimate business , however if you can prove it somehow then you are good, I think the type of bank account doesn't matter, but you may have to explain why its a savings account and so on, because your duty is to convince the Visa officer beyond doubt that you are eligible for the visa.
. Ohh thanks so much

Some people are already on day 97, no response still. CSE raised, emails sent, no reply.

Guys when you submit your application the only time you should start worrying about the length of time is when it’s prolly day 75 cos my passport request came on day 63 so if you are on day 40 or 50 just calm down hahahaha. All the best to those who are still waiting.

Depends on what you want to go there for exactly, there are different types of visa, and ways of migrating

Anyone applied with mutual funds as proof of funds. Mutual funds are usually redeemable in 24 hours. Is this acceptable as a likable cash by IRCC? Any one with this experience?
