You can read more about it here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-African_Highway_network And this is a map of the highways. Note that South Africa was not part of the African Union and was still under sanctions when this project was planned, so anywhere you see Windhoek Namibia, know that the highway is now going to Cape Town, South Africa

He said: “ What we are concerned with in this committee is the Lagos to Algiers highway.Damn... Nigerians don't read. Shameful comments everywhere. Some are asking why abandoned local roads for this road. Lol. So so shameful. If any of you condemning this had bothered to read the article, you'll see where it is stated every country on the route is responsible for the stretch that passes through their own country. Hence, Nigeria is only (re)constructing or expanding already existing Nigerian roads only. This include Makurdi-Lafia-Akwanga-Keffi route which links up with Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria routes which are all part of the trans Sahara road. The Lagos-Ibadan-Jebba route is also part of the road. This is similar to the Nigeria-Cameroon international road which actually starts from Enugu-Abakiliki-Mbok-Ikom and terminates in Yaounde, Cameroon. While Nigeria had focused on the Enugu-Ikom stretch, Cameroon focused on theirs. |

naptu2:Thank you for the map and well done. I don't know why OP and most Nigerian bloggers will be reporting news about a road and cannot even put up a map of Nigeria, Africa... to show where this road is located. The map makes it very easy to locate and identify the road. |

Have you also seen Lasu road of recent don by the same Chinese? Julius Berger are still d best anyday, anytime. Look at the level of work being done by them at the Lagos Ibadan expressway. This borrow money thing from china and world bank is becoming the only survival strategies for Nigeria. When Nigeria had it rosy with huge petrol dollar they were behaving like drunken spoilt kids. Now Na so so borrow borrow to get the machinery of government moving ! Nigeria government should learn the habits of a good saving culture and be meticulous and prudent in spending. If the western countries and china that we go cap in hand requesting for loans did not prudently manage their finances. Will the Nigeria government find a father Christmas? to turn to ? |

They are speedily connecting us to Muslim countries. Meanwhile, internal federal roads such as East-West Road and Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway are death traps. Asnafsaeed: |

We do, Mr. Too Sabi alias Sabinus. Yes, they are internal roads, but with external results in mind. The internal benefit is a fallout. Aquariann: |

I don't understand these people o... You are closing borders and yöu claim the closure is increasing the economy... and you are talking of constructing roads to favour inter-trade with countries so far away... and this is at the expense of interior roads used by ur own people and they are suffering... Put ur priorities right |

naijadrivablog:You are totally correct my Brother. I was telling one guy in another thread on how this Buhari led government is marginalizing the south east and south south. It left one to wonder whether this regions are not part of Nigeria. Check out this pics below, this are how roads in the north are as of now. Since the President is a Northerner, he doesn't give a dime. That's bad for Nigerian politics and democracy.
