So why did he recall Akpeyi?
why is Akpeyi starting ahead of the rest?

which clearance? which save did he make?
a link will suffice!
akpeyi came in because of uzoho injury...
you should know better....and moreover he was in the team before..

and for the save...if you watch the match...you'll see a clearance he made off to the field...which I will call an intelligent one.

it is not easy for a young lad of his nature to keep a clean sheet against an attacking team...south America champions.. in match the Brazilians see as a must win... we were at the receiving end self... they press us like foam

Am I missing something?
Would you say the below isn't worth mentioning as good output for a teenager that is just 20 this last August for his club-Fortuna Düsseldorf II?

Just read on please while remembering the dart of Good Goalkeepers for the SE.

In the summer of 2017, he left the youth team of
Bayer Leverkusen, where he has played since 2012 to join the youth team of Fortuna Düsseldorf.

On 14 October 2017, he made his professional debut in the Regionalliga West for Fortuna Düsseldorf II in a game against Wuppertaler SV , replacing the injured Max Schijns on the 43rd minute of the game.

He finished the 2017/2018 season with just 5 appearances, conceding just 1 goal and keeping 4 clean sheets, while his club finished the season in the 15th position with 36 points after 34 games, narrowly escaping relegation to Oberliga .

In the 2018/2019 season, he became the club regular goalkeeper. On 13 April 2019, he played his last match of the season, against SV Rödinghausen , after being replaced in goal for the next matches by goalkeeper Jannick Theissen.

He finished the season with 15 appearances, conceding 25 goals and keeping 3 clean sheets.

This time, his club did better than the previous season, finishing the season in the 12th position with 42 points after 34 games.

On 24 August 2019, he played his first match of the 2019/2020 season in a 2–1 home win against Schalke 04

The point I've been making since.

What is he doing in the SE right now when he's not being used while the u23 is in a tournament?
Good question

Why should a calamity be called back to bench the new 2nd and 3rd choices?

Can you answer for Safari?

we can only pick good stats that favor our narrative

even at that, conceding 25 goals in 15 matches is like almost 2 goals per game playing against kids he's older than
4th division!

in the last 20 matches he played, how many goals has he saved and conceded?

can you help us with that?

Point blank. You have just said it as it is.

After all, He would only play second fiddle to UZOHO always except when injury sets in

Maybe the Denmark coach is testing Billing’s patriotism. Many would expect Billing to be capped first before this treatment. Or maybe he is seen as not Dane enough.

Koboko99:
If this had happened in the super Eagles, you'll see sermons and epistles cursing Rohr for being corrupt and a bribe taker. The NFF will be accused of dishonest and lack of integrity go keeping him waiting after inviting his earlier.

what happened to you guys you used to have some pretty decent strikers benni McCarthy, ''shoes'' moshoe, novmete, Shaun Bartlett quite a few good ones

IronGalaxy:
South Africa Is generally like that. We have good, tricky midfielders but strikers that lack a killer instinct. Even our league is like that

its of no use being in the SE if you can't be called upon to fill a gap, it makes your presence useless and unworthy.

Mickael2:
I think he means the current U23 teams and not really every African player below 23 and if you look at it from that angle he may not be that wrong. I mean Nwakali couldn't even cut it at the Portuguese Segunda and yet he is starting games for our U23 which means he is better than all we have on the bench and that is saying something about how poor the team really is.

But what you are saying is different. I mean Chukwueze is U23 and will definitely cut it there, but he isn't in the present U23 team, note the difference.
But you know i dont mean the current u23

I dont think you reall know where komekn is driving to, the so called dele bashiru and the other english guy are on the bench

But all good you have a point.

VAR as its being used now in england is just a scam. too many bad decisions to be a fluke.

man city v spurs ball hits both teams players in the box but only man city is penalized for hand ball

arsenal game forgotten the opponent pepe was obviously fouled in the penalty box no pen!

liverpool v sheffield mane fouled in the box no pen

sunday's own was just despicable

TheGoodJoe:
There was no VAR in the Swansea game. VAR is there to prevent teams from being robbed.

This is a case of the Match Officials including those in the VAR room seeing some thing and doing another. Then lying against it. Jumping to unrelated topics does not in anyway contribute to the topic.

the bold is true for so many countries in the world. the english team that won u17 and u20 world cups just two years ago can you name up to 5 players from both sides that gone on (so far) to do bigger and better things?

komekn:
I would say historical past.

In contemporary times the national youth teams have given our youth players access and or introduction to European football.

However, it is thier consistent continous top class outstanding performances in thier clubs and leagues that have maintained thier positions in the main in the national teams.

Unfortunately the larger majority of our youth players have never matched thier dominance at youth level, with commensurate progression in thier professional football careers.

KC, ONAZI, I. SUCCESS, have lost thier positions and very rightly so, as their performances at club level have been on a downward spiral.

So my observation still stands and has more credence. Your performance at club and league level justifies and ensures your position and or continous invitation to national football teams.

Exclusive – Super Eagles Lineup Against Benin Republic, Osimhen, Kalu, Chukwueze Lead Attack
The coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has revealed the starting lineup for the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their game against Benin Republic later today in the race to be at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Rohr has decided to stick with almost same set of players he used to prosecute the last two friendly games against Ukraine and Brazil respectively. Both games ended in a draw with the Eagles throwing a two goal lead to draw 2-2 against Ukraine and also losing their lead in the 1-1 draw against Brazil. Despite the results, Rohr saw enough in the game and has decided to stick with the players who prosecuted both games but he made some changes particularly in his defence where Ola Aina comes in at right back in place of Chidozie Awaziem who played the role against Brazil. In goal as widely expected Daniel Akpeyi starts in the absence of Francis Uzoho with the duo of Maduka Okoye and Ikechukwu Ezenwa as back up goalkeepers. The central defence partnership of Semi Ajayi and William Troost-Ekong was maintained by the coach despite the return of Kenneth Omeruo.
Jamilu Collins retains his spot as left full back while the midfield is the same as the one that prosecuted the last game against Brazil meaning the trio of Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo and Alex Iwobi will play in the middle. Ndidi will play as the defensive midfielder while Aribo will operate as the central midfielder with Iwobi positioned behind the main striker which is Victor Osimhen. Osimhen is flanked by Samuel Chukwueze and Samuel Kalu. Chukwueze will play from the right while Kalu will operate fromthe left like he did to devastating effect against Ukraine. Rohr maintained the trio in attack despite the return of captain of the team Ahmed Musa. Lineup Daniel Akpeyi Ola Aina Jamilu Collins William Troost-Ekong Semi Ajayi Wilfred Ndidi Joe Aribo Alex Iwobi Samuel Chukwueze Samuel Kalu Victor Osimhen
we r gradually getting dere...Am not a fan of rohr bt honestly dis man has brought stability and competition into d super eagles...gone are those days when d so called bigboys would stroll into d camp and still b expected to start on matchday.

Does it not prove that the other 2 do not deserve to be there?

He was called back to boss the other 2.

timing is one of the main issues. in past olympics it's usually bang at the beginning of the european league season. next years own is starting in July so maybe clubs can be convinced to release players because i think the olympics will end before most of the major leagues start

tbaba1234:
The Olympics football event has lost its glamour as most teams can't invite their best players within the age limit anymore. The release of players is no longer mandated by FIFA so the quality has gone down.

Yes OKOYE has conceded 17 Goals in 7 this season already without any clean sheet actually

But, Why the whole unnecessary debate about him already when nobody is saying ROHR should risk him or EZENWA that is Match Rusty because of lengthy NPFL break for the NIGERIA vs BENIN REPUBLIC and LESOTHO?

Besides, Why don't you also mention Nigerian Goalkeepers doing great anywhere in the world presently that is being overlooked by ROHR instead of inviting OKOYE?

Or is it the league that is on holiday but just returned for about 2 weeks now that would produce good Goalkeepers? Is it not what is also counting against EZENWA inspite of his experience that he couldn't be trusted in the absence of UZOHO?

Even with stats, you are saying "....Good stats that favor our narratives"

Like I said, it's okay to not like a player for whatever reason, but don't hide behind objectivity to defend it .

25 goals in 15 matches playing kid football in 4th division yet in the squad of a senioe national team?

The day we become more logical and objective in Nigeria, the better for our development.

do you know how many goals he has conceded in the last 20 games?

We can all see why the so called calamity Akpeyi is coming back to bench them.

I'm very particular with GK because its the part of the field I take interest in the most.
