Details emerged on Wednesday on why Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) suspended Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and also sacked its Secretary, Lawrence Okah.

Speaking with our correspondent, multiple party sources said the action was taken against Oshiomhole after it was discovered that he was using Okah and few others to cause crisis in the party.

A credible source said Barr. Anselm Ojezua quickly moved after realising that Oshiomhole’s intention is to instigate crisis in the state chapter of the party and then constitute a caretaker committee that will be loyal to him to manage the party’s affairs.

Ojezua, who became the chairman of the party in 2014 when Oshiomhole was governor of Edo State, is fiercely loyal to the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, who is having a running battle with Oshiomhole over the control of political structures in the state.

According to our source, Okah who is a loyalist of Oshiomhole was trying to coerce some members of the State Working Committee to revolt against Ojezua’s leadership.

“The national chairman was suspended when his clandestine move to cause crisis in the Edo State chapter of the party was exposed.

“Having realised that the Anselm Ojezua-led Working Committee was on the side of Governor Obaseki, he tried to engineer a crisis in the party so that the National Working Committee (NWC) can step in by setting up a caretaker committee whose members will be loyalists of the national chairman.

“Their secret was exposed and the leadership of the party who are already fed up with the national chairman’s undue interference in their affairs suspended him”, he said.

Sources said Okah who was fronting for Oshiomhole was said to have collated signatories of some executive members at his residence.

However, his plot was blown open when auditor of the Edo APC, Comrade Timothy Osadolor, returned the N1 million he was given to sign the vote of no confidence notice on Ojezua.

Osadolor, who distanced himself from the document purporting to remove Ojezua from office, said they were taken in a commando style to the residence of Okah where they were forced to sign the document.

Giving details of the incident, Osadolor explained that they were invited by a colleague for a meeting from where they were whisked to Okah’s residence.

He said he was threatened and asked to sign the document if he wanted to leave the residence alive.

He stated that he had to append a fake signature against his name to regain freedom.

According to him, “What happened, to the best of my knowledge, is an act of desperation taken too far. We were taken in a commando style to the house of the state secretary, where I was forced to sign the documents purportedly removing Anslem Ojezua.

“There were just eight or nine signatures on the document. My name was badly spelt. I didn’t draw their attention to it but had to play along by signing the document with a fake signature.”

The Financial Secretary, Princess Golda Oribhabor-Onwuka, also said she signed the document under duress.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Wednesday, Ojezua said Oshiomhole was the one sponsoring dissidents in the party because of his obsession for power.

“Well, we already knew over time that he had a hand in all these destabilising elements that have been parading themselves in these past few months.

“But events of the last 48 hours confirmed to us that Oshiomhole was not just behind it, he is also desperate to retain power in Edo State for whatever reasons I don’t know. But it is an act of desperation, obsession for power and insatiable greed. That is what I believe is driving all his actions”.

Also speaking on why Okah was sacked, Ojezua said he was given money to buy over loyal party members to Oshiomhole’s camp, a move which failed woefully.

“All I know is that the guy, Lawrence Okah, has limitations mentally. His entire plot to destabilise the party failed woefully as soon as he predicated his actions on the State Working Committee”

“It meant that he lacked understanding of the constitution of the party as having to do with any officer. It is only the State Executive Committee that can remove an officer of the party, not the Working Committee.

Oshimole is treading on a very dangerous path. The Binis are very stubborn and resilience. They will do any thing possible to protect the governor who is one of their own.
Also APC governors as a matter of solidarity, will rally round Obaseki. Already Oshimole is in the bad book of the cabal and Aisha Buhari.

By this revelations however, what it means is that the purported removal of Anselm Ojezua which the NWC spokesman rushed to the press to say they've accepted is null and void.

Because the signatures appended therein were obtained under duress.

Oshiomole is just a short fool.

The Governor is the boss, and holds both the knife and the yam. He must know where, how and when to cut and when not to. Wisdom does it all, not noise making. To whom much is given much is expected.
