You can order your Christmas lunch in advance from M&S or Waitrose. You can even pre book your pub lunch and the whole family goes out to have it.

Thank you but I want Nigerian food for Christmas.

Negative equity at its best.......

If buying a property, avoid leaseholds (like hot boiling water is been poured through your throat) & NEVER accept interest only mortgages (like your NOF is been deliberately fractured with a hammer).......... grin

The problem with this property is the service charge and ground charge which is ridiculously high, higher than monthly mortgage.

Another problem is the fact that the targeted market is limited, only retired people can buy or single but over the age of 55.

Indeed.... But still a property in the UK, a lover of geriatrics might decide to buy this type of property and reside within or a young blood might have retirement plans.....

When a property price is that ridiculously cheap then alarm bell goes off.. £519 a month on service charge alone, council tax, mortgage and bills not included and this is just one bedroom apartment. It has no resalable value.

There are some houses that are freehold but you will still have to pay service charges if it is based where there are communal services e.g gate, staff cost, etc. What I’m trying to say is that freehold doesn’t mean no service charges.

Please teach us property business now cry I don’t even understand what all these grammar you and Lexus are exchanging mean.

Freehold, leasehold. My husband knows IOM (it’s weird how the govt would allow this).

How do I avoid buying a cheap house that maybe leaseheld?

Hello everyone.
My wife just lost her job and earnestly looking for a new one. She earned way above the minimum £18600 required for spousal settlement filing before she lost her job yesterday. I am on a salary of 2.75 million naira per annum here in Nigeria. Do we have to wait for her to be on a "new" job for six months before we can file or can we go ahead and use my salary.

Thank you for your responses.

If you want good property on a cheap then go for Share Ownership or Help To Buy, Share ownership deposit is just 5% and 10% for Help To Buy.

With Help To Buy the govt will gives you 20% loan to be paid back after 5yrs though you need to have Help To Buy ISA account,( Help To Buy ISA will be closing by the end of this month)

You only need 5% for help to buy. You do not have to pay back in 5 years however if you don't, the govt starts charging you interest. Also the govt owns a percentage of the property (loan)they lent you (usually 20%). So if you sell the property, that percentage goes back to govt. If the value of the property appreciates, the government owns a share of that until you pay up.

If you don't have any savings of about £64K, unfortunately you would have to wait till she gets another job that slots nicely into the required figure + allow time..... No shortcuts.......

Yes that is true but you also pay less to the govt if the house price goes down.

Can I apply for a new Visa while still in the UK or do I have to leave?
You can check UKBA site to see which visa you can switch to from within or without the UK. I am not sure if you can switch to tier 2 without leaving.

But I thought you were advised to do separate applications instead of being a dependant?
