The governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State , Chief David Lyon has maintained early lead as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares results in five out of eight local government areas of the state. Lyon polled 206,260 votes in five local governments of Nembe, Brass, Yenagoa, Ogbia, Kolokuma /Opokuma and Sagbama to lead his main challenger, Senator Douye Diri of PDP who polled 119,930 in the six area.

Lyon wins in Nembe, Ogbia, Brass and Yenagoa, while Diri wins in Sagbama and Kolokuma /Opokuma local governments.

Presentation of results in Ekeremor and Southern Ijaw LGAs are still awaiting.

The way things are going , Lyon may not even need the much talked about Southern Ijaw local government area to win . This looks like an Annihilation of some sort for Diri.

Forget about rigging, majority was fed up of Gov. Dickson,they already made up their minds to vote for APC, my Local govt for example.

Well i dont blame Apc with their federal rigging machine through the security operatives, i blame Dickson for acting as god and not allowing the party leaders in Bayelsa to bring out a popular and well accepted candidate who will develop Bayelsa. He can not humble himself.

Bayelsa as a PDP state failed in all ramifications despite such high amounts being received from Oil.

The vote/election wasn’t about the party but the personalities involved that was what APC Cashed In on. It was obvious from the beginning that the chances of PDP Winning Bayelsa was slim.

One problem that has plagued PDP as a party over time is the selfishness sometimes exhibited by some of their party leaders.
You know a candidate is not popular among the populace yet you want to enforce such a candidate as the party’s flag bearer...
