Good afternoon mamas, am team April and went for scan last week the doctor said the baby is unstable lie. I don't understand, how we are okay.
don’t worry yourself, it means the baby is not in a particular position for now. He/she is moving around which is normal for this stage. By the time u get to third semester then u can start worrying whether baby is breech or in cephalic position etc

Good day Sabi Mama's, please ooh is taking cold water good for a pregnant woman, especially this period that the weather is really hot, my colleagues at work, are always talking anytime I take cold water, that's it's not good for the baby... And the cold water really calms me down especially during this hot weather.
Hi mama, feel free to drink your cold water. It goes into your stomach and baby isn't located there. I ate ice all through my pregnancy and had a very wonderful and healthy baby.

I want to be like u... I love your diplomatic response but if a mother that ought to be of help is the one compounding the problem it's best one tell one's husband in a diplomatic way to tell his mum u are ok and she can go just to regain ones sanity
On MIL issues, patience is required.
Even if hubby supports you because of the home. He will later sit down and think that does this woman want my mother. Likewise if it's the wife's mother that was asked not to come, she won't be happy.
She said she's been of help. The best is to press ignore button and pray oh, since her stay is for a while.

What of the one that will be nice to you and will be doing more evil than you can imagine. You will accommodate her now and tell the whole world,"mama is the best".

MamaDG, I don't even know what to say sef,but the best is for one to do what will restore sanity. I've swallowed one small cut drug with the case because of MIL subtle negative behaviour, since then I made up my mind to ignore her. I don't even look at her to know if she's giving dirty look, when she's tired , she will stop. Na husband I marry.

Ma'ams,

I beg make na help me put mouth.

My cerclage procedure was successful but still on bed rest due to severe back pain. I was told it will go after some days. Taking some medicine such as paracetamol

Did any ma'am experience the same after the procedure.

this cerlage matter, is it routine for multiple pregnancy?
the 2 places i registered for antenatal hv different opinions, 1 insists..says its routine for multiple births, another says, its not necessary for me. so am a little confused. from the lil research i did, they say if ur cervix length is short, that cerlage is recommended, guess i would get them to measure it on the next visit

Please, note after, your fifth month, your back is definitely not best. Sleeping on your back puts extra pressure on your aorta and inferior vena cava, major blood vessel in the body) that run behind your abdomen and carry blood back to your heart from your legs and feet.

Pressure on these vessels can slow blood circulation to your body and your baby, and can be risky. Also naturally you might find it harder to breathe while lying on your back. And because your belly pushes down on your intestines when you lie on your back, this position can also lead to tummy troubles.

Well from what doctors told me that is a must for multiple pregnancy.

My is only one but I was advised based on the following listed below:

1)History(I had Miscarriage some years back)
2)My years of waiting before my recent conception
3)My Age

My cervix is okay but I was advised based on the things listed above

I am 34wks pregnant and haven't drank room temperature water, heck! I haven't even drank mildly cold water, my water has to come from the depth of a freezer, my 2015 and 2017 pregnancies were exactly the same.
SEVERAL doctors that I have used over the years have assured me it's fine and I have had perfect babies.
Sometimes that I have gone for ultrasound scan and my babies weren't in favourable position for imaging, I have been given ice cubes or very chilled orange juice to drink and that got things going.
Your body needs lots of FLUID during pregnancy to avoid dehydration, hot, cold, frozen, smoked, carbonated, fried or roasted fluid grin, whatever kind of liquid it is, you need to get it in.
As bad as carbonated drinks seems to be, some mothers who went through Hyeremesis Gravidaruim grew their babies on ice cube COKE or whatever drinks their bodies could tolerate and they birth really healthy babies.

During my 2 previous Labour experiences, I have had to take really cold drinks, chewed on ice and even had cold baths severally, under the watch of very well trained Obgyns.
I don't chip in when such issues arises cos it sometimes stirs up really sour arguments and ain't nobody got time for that.
Some of us hardly let go of old practices forgetting that millions of dollars are pumped into medical researches on a daily basis just so we can find better ways to do things and live a more progressive life. This purpose is crushed when despite new informations popping up, right, left and center, we decide to cling to the old practices. I know how hard it is to let go of one's believe but the simple thing to do is to invest a little of our time to go on the internet, sourced materials, read those research materials and find out how right or wrong the informations are.

I give my babies FRIDGE COLD pumped breast milk, I did this for my both kids . I have never done warm feeding for any of my babies. They don't have flu, not col, well immuned and are strong as tusks. The first day my doctor told me I could do that, I cringed but I talked to other doctors, read some researches and found out is was completely safe and that was the line I towed and still intend to tow when this baby comes. My mother inlaw nearly died of heartattack when she first saw me feeding my baby cold milk when she visited 1 week after his birth, she swore that boy wouldn't wake up when he sleeps and panicked all night but now na she feed cold milk pass me sef.

I don't even mention it to mothers cos I don't have energy for arguments except those that were around when my babies were being fed and saw them gulping CHILLED breast milk.
Am I asking anyone to feed their babies chilled milk? Hell no! Infact, God forbid, all I'm saying is... Things are done differently, there is no 'one size fits all', be open minded to learn new things and cold water is 100 percent safe in pregnancy and during Labour.

I am not blaming anyone for their convictions as Some Nigerian doctors rarely attend medical conferences, seminars and all, so they stick to their outdated knowledge and leave very little room for growth. They of course pass down these outdated infos to their patients and we can only but believe what our doctors says but second/third opinion from other doctors has done more good, saved more lives than not.

May we all have smooth pregnancies and birth amazingly cute and healthy babies.
Happy bumping.
