You took the words right out of my mouth. The money Jumia spends on advert is insane. But their services, terrible!

I only use Jumia to track down sellers and engage them one on one. Look up their Id, do some Google fu, get a number, call them direct. No time for all these misrepresented purchases

What will happen to the monies of customers that ordered goods?

TGM2015:
I think they should closed down.

Majority of the products on Jumia are fake or substandard with high prices. There are more fraudulent sellers that deceive (scammed) intending buyers with good product pictures but deliver unexpecting/fake/low quality products. The worst is that Jumia by their policies protect these set of Sellers, unfortunately, these set of sellers are in the majority on the platform.

Driving market share (growth) without prioritising customers' satisfaction and protecting customers' interests cum scamming one employees with (job insecurity) less than a year employment, will definitely see the company out of operations. They will continue to lose as much more customers they are gaining everyday. So profit will not be growing and eventually they will be out of the market.

Seriously, if not for our indifferent/tolerant attitude as Nigerian to people (govt, employers, recruiters, individuals, etc) who are oppressing us; Jumia should have not only suspended but closed their operations in Nigeria with the level of deceptive selling strategies adopted by majority of her sellers.

As for me, their app is only good for checking product prices, most especially technology (phones and computers) related products.

Stop trying to destroy African business.
It is standard procedure to display shiny articles on online store.
I would have taken you seriously if you bought a product that refuses to work.

"It didn't look like it was in picture" only shows that you are a newbie to internet shopping.

Amazon, Alibaba and the rest all features sellers that display items that may look different
when delivered and even some that don't work.
Yes, there are many overpriced items too.

Don't hate local content!

Its not their fault. It is that of the trader that advertised his substandard wares on their platform. Hope you returned it and got a refund.
Even with alliexpress, Amazon etc you have same issues hence jumia has to confirm from the buyer the product sold is as advertised before releasing payment to the seller.
If i got a refund, i wouldn't complain one bit naw, when the product was delivered to i complain bitterly, the agent started stating some refund policy that wasn't convenient with me, and i was supposed to leave town in 2days time, so i just accepted my fate...

*Oh my dear Jumia! Truth be told, these disruptive innovation entities (Uber, Yudala, ,Jumia, Opay falls in this category) aiint getting ROI (Returns on Investment) in Nigeria and even Africa. Research claimed that just 47.1% of Nigeria's population has internet penetration which is relatively low compared to our sisters in East-Africa, Kenya. How then can a business whose sole mode of patronage is Internet-based thrive in the face of constraints, such as high data rate, huge Tax levy, unfavourable economy, inter alia?. I see Nigeria bade these companies Farewell in years time. Jumia and others will sure fall prey and most likely bow out of the country as they are posed with a fiercely looking Ready-made Finance Bill, ladened with hunt net about to be targeted at e-commerce and service rendering firms. They cant survive, and any attempt to force their stay will be at the detriments of we all. Yea we are at the receiving corner

My 32" was bought from them in 2016 at 41k.

Their products seems to be cheap but I discovered they are of low quality. I bought 32 inches TV from them last week at 32k while at store, same TV is about 40k.

Now mister man read ur own source properly and get some education.
The number of Nigerians on the Internet alone is larger than the entire Kenya population.

It is one thing to read. It is another thing to understand.
Have a good day.

as seen in the post, i am not in any way comparing the population, just the percentages, if 54 % people gain access to the internet in kenya and 47.1 people gain access to internet in Nigeria, should the argument bother on how many people?
a reasonable person will furnish the argument in a way that focus on what the kenyan govt did to had brought their country's internet penetration percentage above average, and why Nigeria is below 50% even amidst Tech minds and tech investments.
i know ur problem, it is either you missed your logic classes, or your 1Q is below 70

How dumb can u can u be sir ? grin
They have 54% on the Internet...and yet tech giants are rushing to Nigeria of 47% instead of them.

Now you are bringing the government into it, twisting up the whole thing.
Didn't you read ur own source where Nigeria will rise to 85% on the Internet by 2025?

Pls spare me your stewpid little talks.
