There is a new trend of scamming people,mostly recharge card sellers now. Apparently,people are really desperate to make money for the festive period.
Modus Operandi;
A supposed customer walks up to your store and requests for recharge card of ‘say’3000,after handing it over to him,he gives you the money and starts making a phonecLl while closely holding on to the card.He keeps explaining to the person at the other end that the recharge cards he could get were in pieces of 1000 and he was going to send 3.After something that seemed like the caller accepted,he requested for 3 more which he paid for.Suddenly,his phone rang which he answered.He later apologized that he won’t be buying the recharge cards anymore as the beneficiary won’t be able to sell it at a good price.The money was returned after retrieving the cards.Note that they were all sealed and wasn’t opened by the customer.Several hours after he left,all the cards were discovered used by another customer.
Going forward,Always confirm whatever a customer requests to buy and do not accept when returned even if you feel it hasn’t been tampered with.
People dey find money anyhow...
