I have come to understand that Yorubas are pathetic Idiots that are so envious, unstable and wicked. We are solidly behind Onyema and Airpeace must stand. If it is the Dangotes, boarder must have been closed for indigenous airlines to operate. Yoruba is the cause of the suffering in Nigeria. Read their comment and see how they are happy that such amount is seized. That is Nigeria's money being held there. It belongs to Onyema but it has indirect effect on you. Unstable people |

This money was probably laundered for a politician, money likely stolen from the very people now defending him. |

hammerD:Says the one that comes from the den of thieves, forgers , baby factory, drug dealers and armed robber. If you can't address him as a person and not involved his region them you should watch as your region will be rubbished. You fools will be abusing others but let the table turn, all of you will rush and fill the front page with insults. Assuming this news is about Tinubu, you Igbos will have littered the entire thread with insults. Nonsense, you are getting what you dished out to others and it won't stop |

“Onyema setup various innocent sounding multi-million dollar asset purchases which were nothing more than alleged fronts for his scam,” said acting Special Agent in Charge Robert Hammer, who oversees HSI operations in Georgia and Alabama. Beginning in 2010, Onyema began travelling frequently to Atlanta, where he opened several personal and business bank accounts. Between 2010 and 2018, over $44.9 million was allegedly transferred into his Atlanta-based accounts from foreign sources. Onyema is also the CEO and Chairman of Nigerian airline Air Peace, which he founded in 2013. In years following the founding of Air Peace, he traveled to the United States and purchased multiple airplanes for the airline. However, over $3 million of the funds used to purchase the aircraft allegedly came from bank accounts for Foundation for Ethnic Harmony, International Center for Non-Violence and Peace Development, All-Time Peace Media Communications Limited, and Every Child Limited. Beginning in approximately May 2016, Onyema, together with Eghagha, allegedly used a series of export letters of credit to cause banks to transfer more than $20 million into Atlanta-based bank accounts controlled by Onyema. The letters of credit were purportedly to fund the purchase of five separate Boeing 737 passenger planes by Air Peace. The letters were supported by documents such as purchase agreements, bills of sale, and appraisals proving that Air Peace was purchasing the aircraft from Springfield Aviation Company LLC, a business registered in Georgia. However, the supporting documents were fake — Springfield Aviation Company LLC, which is owned by Onyema and managed by a person with no connection to the aviation business, never owned the aircraft, and the company that allegedly drafted the appraisals did not exist. Eghagha allegedly participated in this scheme as well, directing the Springfield Aviation manager to sign and send false documents to banks and even using the manager’s identity to further the fraud. After Onyema received the money in the United States, he allegedly laundered over $16 million of the proceeds of the fraud by transferring it to other accounts. Members of the public are reminded that the indictment only contains charges. The defendants are presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial. |

OruExpress:Nope, not because he wanted to buy British boats. But because he was a cog in their wheel of colonization. He refused to let his land be overran by the British mo'fuckers. And yes he wasn't poisoned. He died on his way back after being driven away from his land on a Ship that was supposed to be just a meeting. Read your history book well, man. |

/ Have you noticed how everyone is tagging the keyword "money laundering" without understanding the intricate details. Some police departments are known to confiscate cash on traffic stops. The owner will be made to jump many hoops to reclaim the fund otherwise it belongs to the Police. / |

OruExpress:You are thoroughly informed bro....keep us updated, I personally ain't surprised and I still believe the words Blacks are taught to hate themselves a lot of tribal bigots on here won't agree because that warped sense of hatred is there and continues to see the white man as superior. Gaddafi tried to unite Africa, they saw the danger and decided to destroy him from within using Obama who has African descent... He openly admitted Libya was a mistake.... Today Libya still remains a wasteland. A united Africa will challenge the dictatorial tendencies of the US and they know that. I keep looking up to the Chinese and Russians to up their game in this world power tussle. The likes of Julius Malema, Nnamdi KANU, Trevor Noah etc saw it all coming. |

Sirjamo:I am not sure this is true. Boeing has confirmed the orders and some planes have been delivered. What seems more likely is that he set up local companies in the US that would allow him benefit from soft or hard commissions and such commissions would not be required to be re- imported into Nigeria. Overseas subsidiaries will also allow him pad costs for spares etc allowing build a foreign cash inventory that would obviate the need to continually go through the CBN time and time again. This is something ALL Indian companies do. In fact Indian companies use commissions and padding to develop entire businesses outside Nigeria - using Nigerian money to diversify geographic risk. |

OruExpress:Saw this and it prompted me to go read the Life story of Jaja for the first time even though I've always heard of him since I was a kid. But I didn't see it mentioned anywhere that he was killed for trying to buy British boats. Where can I read your own version of how he died please? |

OruExpress:Oh so this is the new blame game, blame the Americans for our problems. I guess they were responsible for the liquidating of Nigeria airline, or they are the reason buhari fail to start a new Nigeria airline after spending billions of naira for logo design in a foreign company. There is so little these whites can do to hurt us, we are the one giving them the chance to do so. If the ceo of air peace had bought the plane as proposed in his document he wouldn't be in this mess by now. This habit of blaming everyone but ourselves for our problem won't take us anywhere. |

plaindealer:In other news if he has used the money to buy planes they won't be a problem. As a business man he can simply said he outsourced the plane purchase from another company at a cheaper price to pocket some profit from the plane purchase since his own company doesn't sell planes.
