My sister if you ask me who I go ask? The matter taya me. Even the people preaching it stated taking akamu @ 3 months. Cos personally, I believe my mother gave me akamu at that age and nothing do me, ayam perfectly okay.

Some babies even reject breast milk from birth self, I wonder why it's now do or die affair.

Infact, i even want to recommend the good old guineacorn/millet/soyabean pap. I'm not sure why or how all our computer age mums concluded (if they did) that it's not nutritious and now prefer all these canned big grammar food and crazy purées of uncountable fruits and what not. I'm even surprised that ALL babies do not purge after these crazy mixtures. I would, as an adult.

I will advice you let her be and ignore her. Face your children and be happy. Soon nobody will tell her before she leaves and am sure your husband will soon be tired. People like that are only looking for avenue to cause trouble. Looking for a chance to say "you chased her from her brother's house" despite all she's doing for you. Even though she has not been useful to you in any way.

Everybody is different, surulady. I don't know how good of a wife you have portrayed yourself to be to them, otherwise, all it takes for some people is just to smile less often, to pass some message across. And it's always better to maintain a good name, if you can help it. However, if you can't, you still should not start off resisting with fire fire oo. Just work on your husband...and with sense as well.
In all, to make her presence bearable, just keep reminding yourself that she will not stay in your house forever.

Nystatin should be effective i guess. How sure are you its oral thrush and not milk residue. You should start by cleaning with warm water (or glycerin) and wash cloth or cotton wool.

You should see her paed to be sure she actually has thrush and to better work out the dosage of antifungal drug she should be on.

[s]But because I like to give my professional bit on days i feel happy anyways, smiley...I would say give 6mg per kg of body weight of fluconazole suspension on the first day and continue with 3mg per kg of body weight for 13 more days.[/s]

You should always cook your baby's pap/tom brown

Pearl05:
Hello mamas,
We are 6months plus 2 wks already so far so good and blessed. We made tombrown today but in preparing it, it was watering that I had to place it on fire to cook it before it became thick.

Please how to you prepare your tombrown for consumption?

Fruits are more nutritious than pap no matter what is combined into it. Some children are allergic to soybeans (my children for example). And is not only fruits that are pureed. Vegetables even food(beans/yam/potatoes etc) are either mashed or pureed. Pap/tombrown are good but you must add something to make it nutritious, funny enough my children prefer custard grin
I make smoothie and I don't purge and I can't mash/puree something that would be unhealthy to my child.
Those cereals are actually blended rice, oat, maize/corn etc.

Start with watery or pureed food to avoid constipation.
So if you're giving cereal, make it light at first and thicken with time.

i did not portray myself to be better than I am I maintain my side as wife I don’t do clinching,it is just this Aunty that is making things different others don’t do that infact there’s a particular one that comes around when she’s with us I sleep like a baby she would take care of the children and even prepare food for me ,and leave as when due but this Aunty is such an opposite was thinking she would leave since last week was surprised she did not...despite the fact she knows she not of use to me and the children...DH was using style to ask her did she miss her children she said her children are grown,so there’s nothing I can do

Aunty is on vacation in your house grin
Since she seems older than you I'll advice you just ignore so it won't look like you're disrespectful. When she's tired, she'll leave.
Even DH sef can as well be tired and then make her leave, it's better it comes from him and not you

True, but vegan diets for babies come with their own significant risks. Infact, more babies become diarrhoel after only fruits and veggies than they do after only good carbs. There is really no class of food that cannot be overdone no matter how wonderful the combos might seem. The kinds of purees I see here sometimes sef, create frightful images. Adding milk to mashed potatoes and tomato paste...just nasty stuff.

The fallacy that pap has nothing to offer as people often peddle, also confuses me. Corn itself, although not a first stop for vitamins, does contain a small amount of the vitamin, while millet, with its low glycemic index has vitamins, proteins, photonutrients... and can definitely not be bad nutritional trade offs especially since it's for a very short stretch of the babies' lives that these would be given and many mothers will breastfeed alongside anyway.

I believe that the tomatoe paste you mentioned was for mentioning sake, like seriously who adds a paste to a puree without first cooking or even going for a fresh tomatoes instead. Adding milk to mashed potato(Irish or sweet) is healthy, to you is messy because milk was added.
Corn is a cereal and also note that they're deficient in some amino acid(lysine) that's why sometimes they're combined with legume(beans etc) cos legume also has methionine deficiency, that's why some people combine corn/beans, pap/soybean, rice/beans etc. Corn already has less protein although is rich in vit c.
Millet has vit B but then are they all not fibre?? Millet's calcium content is not even much.
Ogi is good but that does not mean is the best. Hell to the no.
In all these self, oat still remains the best biko.

Like I said and I'll still say it again, there's nothing wrong with baby cereals cos they are still cereals in a processed form with milk added to it. Pureed food is good too but you should be able to gulp down a spoon of what you want to give a child.

Everything should be in moderation. Pap/cereal/puree etc are all good.

Dont be surprised if your baby prefers what you are eating to the cereals you are hoping he'd take.

Am not considering giving cereals cos with the way she stares at me while eating... I will go for paper and puree food.. And possibly try one meal per week and see how she respond

Thanks mama

I see that a lot and often wonder why mothers won't introduce the child to our local food if the child is ready to eat.

I agree with you. We all want to copy oyinbo not knowing that most of these canned meals are laced with chemicals and preservatives. Some oyinbo people are switching back to organic foods and leaving behind the processed ones.

Our foods are nutritious enough. Just ask your paediatrician if unsure.
