Nsofor is an old man who will do nothing! He is only ambassador to US because he gave a minority supreme court ruling in favour of the current president.

He is as useless as his penis and is only there in the US as a figure head

Will they keep quiet. How many people do the United States have locked away in Guantanamo Prison in Cuba and other CIA black sites across the world?

Tell those who stood surety for Sowore to go pick him up. We need to know who to pick up if Sowore runs like that Abino.

Tomorrow he will think twice before attempting to Revolt and overthrow his ancestors.

Seriously, what has other countries' failings got to do with such a serious decline in leadership here in Nigeria??! Or since when did we start excusing or condoning evil because other nations are complicit in it??!...

There is something seriously wrong with most youths of this nation...

Sowore is suffering the fate of all his lies on Jonathan, and if the court has ruled for him to be release, that aboki ought to have released him.

Why are you here shamelessly backing tyranny?

Didn't he swear to uphold the law?

When you were locked up in the Guantamano,
were you picked up from your country's bedroom or as a result of breaking the law?

However mad US is, the people there still maintain a little more sense of respect to the rule of law than this Caliphate(yes! It's a Caliphate!) called Nigeria.

Now you expect people to take this country serious. If you are living in Nigeria you’re in serious trouble maybe you don’t know. You will know when you find yourself in a situation where you expect due process to take its place, then you will understand that an animal in saner climes has a more secure future and dignity than you living in Nigeria.
You will understand that you have no right.
Then you will know how really f&&ked it is being a Nigerian at this time.

IgbereTV reports that the Senator and Congressman representing New Jersey, where Sowore resides in the U.S.A., wrote a letter to Nigerian Ambassador to the United States of America, on the detention of Sowore by the DSS.

See letter below

Congress of the United States
Washington, DC 20515

November 25, 2019

Ambassador Sylvianus Adiewere Nsofor
Head of Mission
Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
3519 International Court, N.W.
Washington DC. 20008

Dear Ambassador Nsofor,

We write to express strong concern about closing media and Civic space in Nigeria. There have been a number of troubling reports about Nigeria security services assaulting and detaining journalists using excessive force on non-violent protesters and taking other actions that inhibit freedom of expression, and otherwise prevent Nigerians from fully exercising their constitutional rights.

Journalists and activists such as Omoyele Sowore, Jones Abiri, Kofi Bartels, Samuel Ogundipe, and others investigating and speaking-out politically sensitive problems like corruption or insecurity have been harassed and detained, with reports that some have been tortured. In at least one instance, the Department of Security Services has ignored a court order to release a detained activist. Restrictions and deadly crackdowns on non-violent protesters since 2015 have similarly reflected a lack of apparent commitment to civic freedoms which is beginning to negatively impact the image of Nigeria's government, both home and abroad. Security forces used live ammunitions on Shiite protestors in Zaria, Kaduna State in 2015; on protestors in Onitsha, Anambra State in 2016, again on a Shiite procession in Abuja in 2018, raided the office of Daily Trust, and arrested the editor in January, 2019, and shot and killed Precious Owolabi, a journalist covering a July 2019 protest in Abuja. The crackdowns have collectively killed hundreds of Nigerian citizens and serve serve as troubling demonstration of the excessive force used by the military. The alleged perpetrators of these abuse have yet to be brought to justice.

Mr. Ambassador, Nigeria has a critical role to play in preserving peace and and stability in West Africa, and as the most popular democracy in the continent, it could serve as a shining example of how countries can best observe the rights enshrined in the African Charter on Human and People's Rights. However, failure to failure to respect the rights in the Charter and those in Nigeria's own constitution undermine your nation's ability to lead in this area. We urge you to ensure that the rights and liberties contained in the constitution are observed for all citizens, and to take strong action against further closing space for journalists, political opposition, and those in civil society. The rights of all citizens must be respected without the threat of government reprisal. We look forward to seeing progress on this critically important issue. Thank you for your attention on this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

Signed

Robert Menendez
United States Senator

Josh Gottheimer
Member of Congress

First question, is he an American citizen or a Nigerian citizen? If he carries dual citizenship he is not eligible to contest the election of the office Of the president of nigeria - but if he is a Nigerian citizen, what right does America have to write us on how to treat people that want to cause anarchy in nigeria?

Secondly, if he is an American citizen, America is trying to cause unrest and war in nigeria.

This matter is similar to Nigeria and the rest of Africa, shoprite import poultry items from south Africa and sell in their stores, Benin export the largest consignment of rice same with Niger, Chad, Cameroun and even ghana, they export bournvita satchet to Nigeria all their economies have single digit exchange rates with the dollar, while we are struggling with triple digit exchange rates all caused by importation and loss of jobs as a result of the relocation of these companies to our neighbours and inflation - abegi we must always do things within the arm bit of the law, as faulty as it maybe, we must hold those responsible for correcting this nonsense responsible - the national assembly members

Sowore is not above the law, especially in a case of treasonable felony, as said by the DSS, it supersedes any ruling of any court, even in America if you are accused of treason you get the lethal injection straight, well since we didn't curb nnamdi kanu's excesses, it has given rise to sowore, only God knows who would come next

The philosophy of languages sha!

One word of wisdom in one language can translate to a stupid thing in another...

You can imagine saying "ADIEWERE NSOFOR" to the hearing of a Yoruba man! He'll probably think you're nuts! - How can a mad man's hen be mourning?!
Whereas, this may mean a beautiful name in Igbo!

To think that some people had so much faith in this buhari at point touting him as a Messiah, a disciplined man
And the disaster he is, is a total contrast
That is the power of propaganda

Menendez corruption trial: What you need to know....

A federal courtroom in Newark, New Jersey, on Wednesday morning will feature a rare sight — a U.S. senator facing felony charges.

The legal saga of Robert Menendez — a lengthy, leak-filled criminal probe followed by two-plus years of legal wrangling since his indictment while Menendez kept his seat — has huge implications for the Senate and New Jersey politics. If Menendez is convicted, there will be battles over who will replace the 63-year-old Democrat, in both the state and, potentially, the Senate. In a 52-48 Senate controlled by Republicans, every vote is immensely valuable.

The case has huge implications for the Justice Department as well. The last senator to be tried on criminal charges — the late GOP Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska — had his conviction set aside after it was discovered that federal prosecutors withheld evidence that could have helped Stevens’ defense. And a key witness against Stevens had a romantic relationship with an FBI agent. That stunning reversal dealt a major blow to the prestige of DOJ’s Public Integrity Section, which pursues corrupt lawmakers.

Here’s a primer on the trial:

The investigation:

Menendez’s relationship with Dr. Salomon Melgen, a close friend and donor, first came under scrutiny in early 2013 after media reports revealed that the New Jersey Democrat was flying on Melgen’s plane to the doctor’s “luxurious” villa in the Dominican Republic. Menendez did not report any of the flights, a potential violation of Senate rules and federal law. When the press disclosed the reports, Menendez cut Melgen a $58,000 check to cover the cost of the flights, but federal prosecutors say there were additional unreported trips.

Menendez intervened on Melgen’s behalf with the Department of Health and Human Services to resolve a $9 million Medicare billing dispute, dragging in then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Marilyn Tavenner.

Menendez also sought the State Department’s help over a $500 million port security contract Melgen had with the Dominican Republic. Menendez even assisted with visas for several of Melgen’s foreign girlfriends, according to prosecutors.

Melgen and his family members donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions directly to Menendez’s reelection campaign, as well as to a Democratic super PAC that backed Menendez’s 2012 reelection effort.

The charges:

Menendez and Melgen were indicted in April 2015 on a slew of federal corruption charges related to the senator’s alleged acceptance of hundreds of thousands of dollars in improper gifts and campaign contributions as bribes in exchange for using his office to help Melgen. These include eight counts of bribery, three counts of honest services fraud, one count of conspiracy, and one count of violating the Travel Act. Menendez was also charged with one count of making false statements.

Melgen has already been convicted in a multimillion dollar Medicare fraud case in Florida and is awaiting sentencing. Prosecutors may seek as much as 30 years in prison for Melgen in that case, a potential life sentence for the 62-year-old ophthalmologist.

The Justice Department alleges that the Menendez-Melgen relationship turned criminal shortly after the New Jersey Democrat became a senator and went on for nearly seven years.

“The defendants’ bribery scheme began shortly after Menendez’s elevation to the Senate in 2006, when Melgen began a pattern of treating Menendez to weekend and weeklong getaways in the Dominican Republic that would continue for the next several years,” prosecutors said in a recent court filing. “For the first four years of the corruption scheme, the all-expense paid trips Melgen provided often included free roundtrip flights on Melgen’s private jet for Menendez and his various guests. When the doctor’s private jet was unavailable, Melgen supplied equally luxurious travel for the Senator.”

In return for Melgen’s gifts and campaign donations, Menendez reportedly used his Senate office to help the Florida doctor.

“Although Menendez did not pay Melgen back for the lavish gifts in money, he did pay him back using the currency of his Senate office to take official action to benefit the South Florida doctor,” prosecutors wrote. “Email exchanges between the defendants, their agents, and officials from Executive Branch agencies will show Menendez’s considerable efforts to pressure the Executive Branch on Melgen’s behalf. And testimony from the agency officials over whom he exerted that pressure will illuminate the relentlessness of those efforts.”

Menendez is the first senator charged with bribery since the late Sen. Harrison Williams, another New Jersey Democrat, was convicted in 1981 in the Abscam case. The Williams case could come into play again if Menendez is found guilty because of the timing of his ultimate resignation.

The US and Western nations should start placing travel bans on Buhari and senior security personnel and their families. They have overlooked Buhari's atrocities in Nigeria for too long. That is why the bigot keeps acting with impunity as if Nigeria is his personal property.
