Thought all snapdragon processors come with camera2api enabled.
What about the android and MIUI version?
No android 9 or MIUI 11?

That is wrong notion, Camera2api enabling is left to the manufacturer. Xiaomi only started enabling it in Mid ranges starting from RN7.

I use RN5 and I have been on Android 9 since July and I updated to MIUI 11 last week

It only works on Android 9+.

Secondly do your friend have his Camera2api enabled . You know unlike R7, RN7 and above you have to unlock bootloader install a custom recovery before enabling Camera2api. Then you know look for a GCam port portable with it.

NB: A GCam that works on device would most likely not work on another.

Thank you.
All that will be too tedious for him.
He'll have to live without a great camera app.

Did you flash the android 9 ROM or did xiaomi push it to you. Also is it possible for phone manufacturers to enable the camera2api through a system update? Just maybe.

I didn't flash it, it came as OTA. Your friend should manually check for updates. It would come as a full 1.7Gb update based on MIUI 11.

Xiaomi have not done so before. So I presume they prefer doing it before shipping.

Good afternoon, happy Sunday and happy new month. grin
I'm hopefully getting my first Xiaomi device this week. Please for the last choice and final decision, between Redmi note 8 (4/128) and Mi 9 Lite, what's your advice?.
Your good responses will be highly appreciated.

That is really good.
Which of them XB31, or 41 and at what price point?

@ Thayay, was the 6 hrs at what volume level, at max volume? You know the volume also affects how much time you get from it.

i use xb31....
going for a machine next year grin grin grin grin, name withheld

Mi 9 lite is the better device though you'd have to import it.

I already checked Google before I came here but didn't get any concrete answer so your answers will be very valuable to me thanks

1. delete and download manually or before that,
2. Search for Google play services apk and download. Also download Google playstore apk. Install both then reboot. Then check if there's update for Whatsapp

Hello house, pls no bashing, and no taunting. While anticipating your outstanding cooperations, pls accept my profound gratitude

Actually, I don't have issues with him personally. It is his misinformation and outright lies I and most people on this thread have issues with. Plus how he feels on top of the world when he makes them.

It's evident that he enjoys it and why is that? - it's because of the attention he gets. Those that give him attention actually knows that's what he enjoys but they do that because his misinformation will cost lots of newbies valuable knowledge.

Aside him, who else gets the kinds of bashing he gets on this thread and Nairaland as a whole? Kindly point to one person. That's because he has serious issues. Big one.

I don't use RN8 but my experience with MIUI 11 on Redmi 7 is quite different.

While I can't deny that you have issues with yours, it is known that any major updates usually have one or two issues like you are experiencing.

After a major update, it's advisable to be patient for your device to optimize itself. When it comes to battery, that will definitely optimize itself after a round of 4-5 charge.

Also disable wifi and Bluetooth scanning. Also change the sim you ain't using to browse to 2g mode.

Happy new month.

I have a friend who uses redmi note 5 and I sent him the parrotv13 gcam APK. It couldn't install. Any note 5 user here running gcam? And also noticed he's still on Oreo, MIUI 10. Wasn't there an upgrade for the note 5?

Let ur friend watch YouTube video. Check Craxoid Utube channel on bootloader unlocking and flashing of recovery
