Of course i have bad experience for bought a car on nairaland. The first car I own was bought here. Honestly i don't know if the guy used charm to cover my face and that of my mechanic. A week after i bought the car i discovered that the car is not moving no matter how i press the gas.
I called the mechanic the idiot said its a fuel pump.l asked him to get the pump and he did, although the fuel pump work for a moment but later the car wouldn't still move when its hot.And after the car warm up it will started working normally until it get hot again.
When the car want to kill me financially i abandoned it. Bought countless of fuel pump and rewire fed fat from me. After 2 months later i got tokubo from a reliable person. Since i bought the new car i have never fix anything from the car.

Instead of you to blame yourself and the quack that you call a mechanic, you are here blaming nairaland.besides, you saw the ad on nairaland and proceeded to the location to buy or did you also pay on nairaland?
Identify where your problem came from Mr and try not to make same mistake again.

I will not argue with you only if you're selling tokubo cars but a Nigeria used cars forget ,there must be a one problem to other. The fact is that the owner will not tell the truth about the car.

If you enter any market place and you don't shine your eyes, the probability that you would get scammed is high.in this case you were not scammed but I'm sure your so called mechanic was a green horn and you were not willing to pay for a professional inspection.

I recently purchased EOD on jiji even though you claim it is fraudulent and the seller was very honest. He even gave me his plates to use till when It expires in July 2020!

I have done business with few people on nairaland without even meeting them in person. Never be in a rush when you are in a market place. Take your time

Buying a nigerian used car from anywhere comes with high risks even with thorough inspections. We Nigerians hardly maintain and keep our cars up to factory standard.

Restoring bad cars is even worse, you hardly get the quality work you desire. From paint work to wiring is always a problem. To simply replace you’ll see them doing cut and join.

You need a good car? get a used or brand new one from out of the country. Even Nigerian brand new cars are bereft of most options that come with global models.

Transactions in Nigeria are usually a battle of wits. Full disclosure never happens and most Nigerian businessmen consider a particular transaction closed once exchange has taken place. The onus therefore lies on the buyer to to ferret out hidden information on the product. This could mean looking for a needle in a haystack in the case of Nigerian used cars. To minimize the risk, one needs to go with a good mechanic for prepurchase inspection and maintenance of the car after purchase. It appears the mechanic is part of the problem in this case.

Incompetence at it's peak. Did he test drive, scan, check transmission oil before certifying okay?
