This movie is beautifully shot and the acting (especially from the titular character) was top notch. When phoenix took off his shirt his body is quite ... So I'm guessing he lost a lot of weight for the role. It's always nice to see people who are dedicated to their craft.


However, I must acknowledge that watching this movie felt like a chore. The movie takes "slow burn" to a whole level. In fact, it took me three days to get through the movie. The ending was quite cathartic and interesting but the majority of the movie just dragged on and on.

A lot of people have gone as far as saying that if you don't think that this movie is the best thing to happen to cinema, it's because you are dumb and have a low IQ. I think that has made some people who may not have enjoyed the movie to jump on the bandwagon for fear of being bullied.


Another problem I have with this movie is that this is too little of the Joker in it.
We only get to see the joker at almost the tail end of the movie.
Granted, this is an origin story, but that is still not enough excuse.
Now imagine if you went to see Iron Man 1 and the movie was basically about the arrogant weapon manufacturer who gets kidnapped, builds an iron suit while he was kidnapped and then ends when he escapes from captivity. This concept will still be interesting but it doesn't have enough Iron Man in it.

I also have a question. Where does this joker fit into when looking at the big picture? Is he supposed to be the same joker in suicide squad?
He looks like he is in his late 30's or early 40's but Bruce looks barely 11 years old. So am I supposed to believe that in the future this uncharismatic man in his late 50's to early 60's will pose a problem to Batman?

Joker, Iron Man... 2 different characters. Both characters are distinct(hero, Villian) & were born from 2 different circumstance. In joker, the writers wanted the viewers to have empathy for the joker & take a walk in the Jokers' shoe.
They wanted you to feel first hand what the joker felt & how the Joker came to be what he is & at the same time, pass a very strong message to us all. Jokers' story is a vivid message to us all of what happens when the society which ought to protect, care & support its members, ignore & break them instead & it's not just the mentally unstable ones alone. These individuals when broken, develop a kinda genocidal tendency towards folks around em' & ultimately the society suffers the catastrophic effects.
Analyse closely, these mass shootings that has been on the rampage in the US, dating back to the Colombia High school massacre & the rest of the lot, a close analyses would reveal that the culprit of these murders had a kinda somewhat similar story to that of the Jokers'.
No offense to Marvel fans, but Iron Man was meant purely for entertainment, the Joker was more than just for entertainment, hence, his deed from then henceforth wasn't really necessary in the movie.

Bro, MCU movies post-theatrical release hype is typically 2 months, and often can go up to 4 months (Endgame comes to mind). I live blocks away from a popular movie theater, so I would know. How do you think they make so much money? They release digital copies only when they have finished miking theatrical sales to their last drop.

Fast and Furious won't do shit to Black Widow's B.O success for the same reason No Time To Die's premier won't directly effect it - it's a different genre movie. Fans can watch both consecutively on the same day, because they tell different stories, and chart different themes.

Bro, Captain Marvel that wasn't interesting somehow managed to make it into the billion dollar club. That's the power of fanbase. If a not very well liked character like Cap'n Marvel could smash the B.O, what makes you think fan favorite, Natasha Romanoff, won't do the same? Can't honestly remember the last time a MCU film failed to cross a billion dollar mark. Suffice to say, Black Widow's tremendous B.O success is all but guaranteed. Bookmark this page for posterity.

I'm not saying MCU flicks don't continue make bucks months after release. I'm saying it isn't that significant after 6-7 weeks. It's more or less icing on the cake. Meaning not liable to add a few extra 100millions.

Captain Marvel grossing a billion was solely more of fans not wanting to miss out on the interwoven story reveal leading up to Endgame. Fans didn't want to miss a single detail of the Endgame. And it was ingeniously marketed to play a big part in Endgame. I bet you if Captain Marvel was released now after Endgame, I ain't seeing any Billion.

Honestly, even being a fan favorite and huge fan base, I don't see Black widow grossing $1bn. I tie it around $850mn Max.
With Wonder Woman 1984 releasing exactly a month after it; it's going to cannibalize Black widow's gross that would have made it hit a billion, since they're both meant for same target demographics. Infact I see Wonder Woman 1984 a clear challenger for $1bn than Black Widow.

Anyways, let's wait till then and see how it plays out.

My sentiments too. Scar Jo is the main propeller for this movie to be a hit never even really the black widow character. It's a C list character at best. I'm still looking forward to it all the same. It's solely made for the fans, Scar Jo will draw the casual fans in.
