While I am not his fan, technocrats who served under Goodluck Jonathan apparently remain some of the best brains that ever came out of this country.

Today, I've yet to pick out one professional whose impact is felt across the nooks and crannies of this country.

If Buhari's definition of governance (settling party loyalists with sensitive positions) is what democracy truly is, then democracy isn't worth it.

Buhari and his goons have taken Nigeria's leadership to an all time low!

Congratulations to Mr. Adesina!

This is an award truly deserved!
Jonathan may not be a great politician and succeeded in our politics by chance but he is no doubt a fine administrator who has the best record in governance since 1999 and maybe after Gowon since independence.

Jonathan could have sacked him when the story of N60 billion mobile phones for farmers was being pushed by detractors of his administration but did not. Just as he did not sack SEC's Arunma Oteh over another fake news pressure.

FG not spending N60bn on mobile phones for farmers —Minister

http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/component/k2/item/2335-fg-not-spending-n60bn-on-mobile-phones-for-farmers-%E2%80%94minister

MINISTER of Agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, has denied news reports that the Federal Government is to spend N60 billion on purchase of mobile phones for rural farmers, describing the reports as false and a misrepresentation of rural farmers’ mobile empowerment initiative.

Speaking exclusively with the Nigerian Tribune, the minister said N60 billion mentioned in the story was almost the entire budget of the Ministry of Agriculture, adding that “we have not arrived at the budget for the mobile initiative.”

According to him, the total cost, when determined, could not be anywhere near the figure mentioned in the story.

“Even if we are to give mobile phones to 10 million rural farmers at N6,000 per one, the cost would still be around N6 billion. How then did they arrive at N60 billion?

“But we have not even taken any decision. I can, however, tell you six reasons why the rural farmer mobile initiative is being sponsored by the Federal Government.

“The first is to reach farmers so that they can access fertilisers and other farm inputs. The second is to ensure financial inclusion by linking the rural farmers directly to banks for farm subsidies and others.

“The third is to enable farmers to get extension services information which they presently have no access to one.

“Fourth is to create alert channel to farmers in cases of flood and draught and, lastly, we want farmers to have access to market information for better returns on their produce,” the minister said.

He further said “I want to assure Nigerians that we are not spending N60 billion on the project. We are yet to take final decision.”

Really? Is this how you think, perhaps I overrated your level of intelligence, being a supermod here, to draw comparisons between Akinwunmi Adesina and Invictus who's a nobody. Someone who's a world renowned Agriculture Economist, Former Distinguished Minister of the Federal Republic and was good enough to be appointed the President of the African Development Bank.. What a thoughtless comment.

Oga if a real positive person with capacity such as adesina presents himself I will surely vote for him. Where he comes from is not applicable. Everything he touches he distinguishes himself. Same as Peter Obi, Ambode etc.

Jonathan had a fine cabinet, though they called he clueless.

I'd rather be clueless and work with experts than the other way round.

But the real joke now is both Bubu and his cabinet are both clueless and unqualified....smh...country is doomed

Cabinet filled with crooks and criminals and thugs whose only success story is election rigging example: Rochas, Oshomole, omoagege e.t.c....shoir

Mtchewww.

You made no sense at all.

Jonathan worked with the best technocrats indeed. I am certain you've never met one who is truly a technocrat nor understand the actual meaning of the word.

Jonathan's 'technocrats' such as Okonjo Iweala, Allison-Madueke, Adesina & co, who supervised the looting of our patrimony and came up with programs and policies that have no bearing on the Nigerian masses.

How far did Adesina's cassava initiative go? Why was Adesina unable to revitalize the fertilizer blending plants, in all his ingenuity? Can you recall their fertilizer - mobile phone initiative for farmers? Of what economic value was that? Where was Okonjo Iweala when Sambo Dasuki took over her role as Finance minister to divert funds meant for security to cronies and party men? Buhari's Presidential Fertilizer Initiative has ensured the revitalization of various blending plants across Nigeria. Unlike, cassave bread, our Nigerian rice has flooded every nook and cranny of the country, as production is said to have hit 5 - 6million metric tons per annum, according to RIFAN. Did you know that the cost of fertilizer dropped by around 100% with the implementation of the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative? Where was Okonjo Iweala when our foreign reserve was being depleted, thereby permitting a free fall of the naira? Did you know that the Jonathan administration borrowed to pay April 2015 salary - that was the very last month before he left office? Did you know that Jonathan left less than $30billion as foreign reserve but today we have over $45billion? Should I name Buhari's projects for you? Where were Okonjo Iweala and Allison Madueke during the oil windfall when others in OPEC saved billions of $? How much did they save?

https://www.nairaland.com/3016147/flash-back-okonjos-excuse-borrowing

Let's not go to Allison-Madueke because she can best be described as a disaster. Make I nor hear call her technocrat o. Abi, na because she be the first black ED of Shell? Does her conduct as minister not prove to any discerning mind that she was undeserving of her past accomplishments? Wasn't she a mere opportunist? What defines a technocrat are expertise and character.

Let me have the names of the loyalists that Buhari compensated with sensitive positions as you claimed.

I do not know how you evaluate issues, but the reason why people ask for resumes is to analyze success rates at previously attempted tasks from school and past employments. Based on previous performances, the prospective employer will be able to deduce if the person has been a serial performer or not. The better your resume, the most likely it would be that you will perform on the new Job.

However for the highest positions in states and federal level in Nigeria, people mount positions without any iota of evidence of past performance, but on stupid sentiments.

Its obvious a Tinubu or an Alao Akala, perhaps even an Adedibu might be able to convince you with that statement that you just made that they would be better presidents than Adesina.
