Please I need your opinions and suggestions. Finishing college of nursing soon at 21 years and parent say I shud choose weather to go to the UK and obtain my bsc Nursing in 1 year and practice there or I shud go for medicine in russia 6years. Please I need your advice and all thank you so much

It all depends on what you really want. It also depends on how soon you really want to become independent.
Going to UK for nursing will obviously make you financially independent fast ,and also hasten your chances of getting permanent leave to remain abroad and become citizen. Pay for nurses should be slightly lower than that of doctor except you combine jobs but you can progress your career in nursing and comparatively lower the gap . Which ever way,the pay will cater for your basic needs.
Then for the Russia path to study medicine, you will likely still have to come back to Nigeria after studies for internship, because Russia won't give you job as a doctor. Then you start writing foreign exams( requires hard work and finance to pass) and start applying for jobs and visa abroad.
Just to summarise it,the time it will take you to finish the Russian medicine pathway to travelling abroad would earn you citizen in UK as a nurse if the nursing pathway is followed.
So it all depends on what you want. At 21,you still have age on your side which is an advantage so any part you chose to follow still gives you time to achieve whatever you want.

Hello crushsugar, being UK RN, what advantage will BSC Nursing Hons give you that your current UK RN will not give you? Also, will your employer sponsor this and how long will the program last? Are you able to do this program while working? Many thanks in anticipation.

The Bsc would give me nothing immediate but I have long term plans to further my studies to the peak.
My employer is not sponsoring. But there are employers who support. I didn't bother checking if mine will.
The program spans between 1-2 years. If you want to do it in a year, you obviously have to do more modules per time.
It is an online program designed to help those working.

And what happens to fatigue? If an investigation is launched, you would be totally culpable/responsible. Putting your pin at risk........

Yes you can, if you're robot and get paid for both (both shifts must not be done within the NHS)........

The major thing that will cost money is rent.
For places I know of it can cost you between 400-800 pounds for an apartment a month depending on the area. But living in a shared apartment can cut down your bills by almost half.
Food is not a burden. 100 pounds can feed you in a month and that is if you sabi eat wella.
Cloths are affordable according to what you have.
Bottom line is live within your means.
With self discipline you can still have enough savings.

The law states that you must have at least 11hours of rest between each shifts. You are not allowed to work above 48hrs weekly without signing an opt out form. Even at that you must not put yourself or patients at risk. Max shift per day is 12hrs. If you want you can ask for extra shift or join the bank.

Acceleration is not in Nigerian education system.
In fact one of the reasons I had to leave was that I needed to spend 4 years to get Bsc Nursing after doing school of nursing for 3 years and post basic nursing for 1½ years.
The quicker you can get would be Babcock university.
Lautech degree is fast but it is for registered Nurses.
You can either start from 200L Nursing or Do School of Nursing for 3years.

You can get registerd in Nigeria and come here to practice or do your degree here which is quite expensive.

You could start your BNSC from Noun. Infact, you can start from 200lvl and spend just 4years.

The entrance requirement into Noun's Nursing program is either a RN/RM or a Bachelor's degree in any if the health/biological/life sciences.

This is not true. I checked on their website and found out that you must be an RN to be admitted.

Just a view on one early evening.
It gets dark before 4pm now and starts getting bright around 8pm. Characteristics of autumn.

Nice one!
Can i get some advice from you CrushSugar?

I have an intention to go back and study nursing, this is after 4 years of graduating with bsc biochemistry from uniport. However, right now i am confused as i don't know if it is much better enrolling to school of Nursing or the University. The fear of ASUU strike scares me from choosing the latter as i am in my late twenties and i wouldn't want to spend extra years. Studying abroad is no bread and butter as it involves much financial commitment which i can't afford. If not, that option would have been the best for me. I want to know if obtaining RN after 3 years at SON guarantees one of getting a job outside Nigeria

Depends on what you want, and where ur passion lies. Going for a one yr top up in UK, and proceeding with a nursing career there is a great choice. The UK is in extreme demand for Nurses, and they have become extremely flexible in accepting nurses. So this are the best times to follow that path if it interests you.

If you however want to study MBBS in Russia, make sure you choose a school that's accepted globally, and know Medicine is quite a long, tough, excruciating and turbulent walk, that takes only real passion to survive, and alot of long night of wondering if you are still on the right path, and the demands are not getting any easier. There is also high demand for Doctors in the UK and world over at this point, however no one know what the coming decade hold and how rigorous their demands would be.

In all it's all about you and ur passion, and not doing a course because you were pressured to. Cheers
