Splashme:
The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.

Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.

The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.

Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”
The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.

Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.

He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

We should revitalise our beautiful TRAIN network before we start that one

One of the most pleasurable things to do in life is to embark on a train journey...taking in the scenes from the window...

To see dilapidated train stations with flaking paint and abandoned rail lines overgrown with weeds is to witness the core of the ROT in Nigeria
Interests differ.
The main purpose of train is to carry many poor people from A to B.
The main purpose of cars is to carry Rich people from A to B, and pose and flex and slay very well...

The marketers and government are all out supporting the rich.

In Dubai, one of the most fascinating features in public transportation is the Dubai Tram. The Dubai Tram is an essential part of Dubai transport network.

Generally, Trams are one of the safest modes of public transport in the world.

What exactly is a Tram?

A tram is similar to a train in many ways. It runs on a railway-like line called a tramway. Just like trains, it consist of a series of coaches/carriages/vehicles. Trams usually run from a tramway to a railway line. It can also be modified to have the speed of a train.

The Dubai Tramway

The Dubai Tram is a tramway located in Al Sufouh. The tram service links Dubai Metro and the Palm Monorail and runs along Al Sufouh Road and Jumeirah Beach Road. It provides access to destinations such as the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lake Towers.

The tram runs for 14.5 kilometres (9.0 mi) along Al Sufouh Road from Dubai Marina to the Palm Jumeirah and Al Sufouh. It takes about 42 minutes to run from Al Sufouh to Jumeirah Beach residences.

In Dubai, to board and ride in a tram, you would need to pay with a Nol card. You can purchase one at any of the tram or Metro stations. A Nol Card can be used by passengers to check-in and check-out of the tram by scanning (tapping) the card at the platform screen doors.

The Tram has a fixed fare of AED 3 (N300) per ride, regardless of the distance travelled. But if you're paying for a ticket with cash,  you would have to pay at a premium.

The trams run every 10 minutes during peak hours and 12 minutes at all other times. A trip along the entire route takes about 40 minutes.

Dubai Tram is fully automated. It provides a vast number of features and services for the convenience of the users. For instance, it is air-conditioned; it has Wi-Fi access throughout its network. It also has a complete mobile phone network. There is also dedicated Tram police to enforce rules.

So, if you’re visiting Dubai, and you plan to stay in Al Sufouh, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeira, etc., you might need to use the Tram.

The Roads and Transport Authority, commonly known as RTA, a major independent government roads & transportation authority in Dubai coordinates the function of the Dubai Tram.

Autojosh.com takes you to the beautiful city of Dubai, to show you some photos of the fascinating Tram.

Now, why don't we have such mode of mass transit in major Nigerian cities?

Must Nigeria have every kind of development in the world... Nigerians tend to forget their place in human mental index... We have very low mental index compared to an average country... An average Nigerian is not thinking well... Even the little development in the land is in total shambles ... It's not about seeing good thing and wishing to have it but more importantly having the mental capacity to use, maintain and sustain. Check the recently installed brt ... You will understand that something simply wrong with the people. Mentally stagnant believing it's by having properties that count but ignoring the brain... First give Nigerians brain... Then you could yarn for good development.

Remember NICOMSAT?
of what benefit to average Nigerian?
Now talking about NUCLEAR ENERGY... These kinds of developments are not for foolish people ... They for wise people ...

They dont understand that a train journey can be a luxury experience. Thats why you have first class carriages with complimentary food and entertainment. A truly classy person understands the beauty of a scenic train ride, no matter his financial status.

Therefore the marketing should be STRATIFIED to carry all classes of people along

Posing and flexing on a train is just as interesting as in a car. Whats so great about a car

Trains are egalitarian and professional while cars betray a certain arrogance

If you see a photo of a politician carrying his case files onto his train carriage, is it not far better and more dignified than those stupid motorcades with flashing lights and noise everywhere?
