Apart from patching roads and building useless bridges where it's not even needed, What other things do they politicians see as development? Imagine having this kind of cool streets in Nigeria with Good drainage system and not this open gutters we have everywhere?? Why can't black people think out of the BOX?? 139 Likes 9 Shares

We don't have these kind of streets in nigeria because we are not ready to pay the kind of taxes that would fund and maintain those kind of streets. In the UK, if you are living in the city, you pay council tax which ranges from 60000 to 100000 naira monthly depending on the city. That money goes into making the cities look nice That's why uk cities have great streets. If we charged that kind of tax in Nigeria, Nigerians would scream. So we pay scanty taxes and get scanty and bad roads The bad roads we have in Nigeria are what we can afford. The sad thing is that looting still happens on top 101 Likes 11 Shares |

Raydos: So when you get into politics would you be willing to charge heavy taxes to pay for the good roads you want? Our budget for thos year is 26 billion dollars. South africa spent 23 billion dollars on education alone last year. London's budget is 2 billion dollars this year.Lagos budget is 3 milllion dollars. ( for the state not the town) ( figures not correct. Error regretted ) Our oil revenue is not enough to feed everyone for a month self. How do you raise the money.? 42 Likes 7 Shares |

PhiliptheArab: If Government upgrade people's lives and reduce poverty, people will definitely be able to pay that Taxes, But with high unemployment rate, Increase in Poverty, Tell me how will people be able to afford that? In less than 20years, The Government of china moved 830million people from extreme poverty to middle-class, 830million people that's 5 times the population of Nigeria!! If Government can do that in Nigeria too, why won't people pay those taxes you mentioned?? 193 Likes 7 Shares |
Re: Why Don't We Have These Kind Of Streets In Nigeria? by Nobody: 6:53pm On Nov 21, 2020 |
Raydos: Yes, we can use the billions and build new streets. The next problem is how you maintain the streets, upgrade the streets and so on That bit costs far more than what we can raise from seizing billions looted 11 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Why Don't We Have These Kind Of Streets In Nigeria? by Nobody: 6:54pm On Nov 21, 2020 |
PhiliptheArab:Thrash and absolute bunkum. Nigerians leaders looted $600 billions dollars since 1960, imagine if they used just 50% of their loot to develop most cities they lived in. Do you know if Dino Melaye sells all his cars he can replicate one of these streets in his community. 85 Likes 5 Shares

Raydos: Upgrade people's lives? With a budget that if divided among Nigerians gives us each 45000 naira? I have a few ideas as to how government can do that. Deregulate the downstream petroleum sector. Deregulate power. Every nigerian pays their power bills These three measures will provide us with 50000mw of power to power our economy in the next ten years 18 Likes 1 Share |
