Its simply because selling gala and drinks in sw traffic is more lucrative than owning a shop at thier side undecided..even babies would know

They are attacking their leaders both within and outside so they can do their job. But why do they prefer being in sw and north instead home where they have forced their leaders to work?

I see Air Nigeria in the renders, what happened to that project?

I am impressed with the facility but the key here is maintenance. How would the restrooms, baggage claim, and the surroundings look 2 years from now? Would the faucets in the restrooms be functional as well as paper towel and toilet roll dispensers be fully stocked or do you have to pay a bribe in order to have one available to you? These are the questions that need to be addressed and focus should be placed on making sure that such a nice facility does not fall into disrepair.
The existing domestic terminal has been well maintained and is more than 6 years old. The toilets are clean, baggage carousels work fine.

Where in Nigeria do you pay 'bribe' for toilet paper? As messed up as this country can be that is something that has never happened to me, not even in that cauldron of national disgrace known as Murtala Muhammad International Airport.

This is why i like Akwaibom and cross river people more
if they want to do a project, they build it very well
unlike my Igbo families.
Since Uyo has been developing with daily new projects, i have never
seen a single project in Igbo land, except people building their own houses or builing hotels

I really dont understand why u make such comment. This forum should get rid of people like u! Go to London and see the number of Yorubas there. Go to south africa and see the number of yorubas there. Go to the usa and see the number of people there. Why are they there? Why didnt they sit their ass in south west and hold their leaders acountable?

Some of u just make stupid comments just to get likes. I am even annoyed at my self for replying such a stupid comment. People must migrate in one way or the other. Go and ask how south africans run their system of govt.

If u must know, in SA, three Arms of govt are located in three different states. This makes the country to run a kind of three capitals. This in return spread the investment and govt presence across the country. This is the model u need in Nigeria if u wish the Igbos to migrate less. If i want to travel out of the country, i must come to lagos or abuja to process my documents. If i want to submit anything to the FG, I must travel to lagos or Abuja for it among other things. I can practically do nothing in the east if I must get these things done. This is why they keep migrating. If u so wish them to stop migrating, then ur country should simply break up or run a regional confederation or at least, copy south african model and enact policies that will push some FG agencies to east as well.

People like u know the truth but chooses to be ignorant and that is why the country is messed up from east, to west, to south south and north. I am so happy becus the mess is not in the east alone. It is all over the country. No electricity, no water, unemployment, insecurity, poor housing, bad roads, etc. These are the basic things for any country and I am happy it is hitting hard on the entire country. Poor leadership knows no region.

If.the pictures displayed are anything to go by , I really don't see what is impressing the governor...the structure is still at the foundation stage for crying out loud.

I guess this government mediocrity is why the ......is fighting tooth and nail to oust him.

I guess this governor's mediocrity is why the once revered former Governor, then-seemingly invincible Senate Minority Leader, recently defeated former Senator and now compensated and controversial Minister. is fighting tooth and nail to oust him. grin

Their money, their governor.
Expanding an already adequate airport to 'international ' standard seems redundant when the current airport appears more than adequate. So we're to believe that air passenger traffic through Uyo will now be international in scope and number to justify this boondoggle? As others have said, this seems very white elephant in intention and by design.
If I were him, I'd sink my funds into a deep water port and build a serviceable road to link with the great eastern trading centres of Aba and Onitsha, in collaboration with the SE governors of those states. You can imagine the multiplier effect vs this airport fandango.
You want to know where the governor's money is ? Follow the oyibo contractors. Especially blondes. cool

I was in the East recently and saw a lot of our Yoruba brothers and sister living happily. Also, any ipobians are doing business and living life in their SE region.

These Ipobians are not only in SW and north, they are also in many other countries. The same way Chinese, Indians and Europeans are in Lagos doing business, these IPOBs are also taking advantage of business opportunities like their foreign counterparts . Our Yoruba leasders need to stop this agbero menace in our region, also our skull mining activities.

The best is for us to split this country so that we can chase these IPOBs away.
You dey talk go here talk go there. Craze grin

Finally Nigeria may get an airport building that looks like a standard airport building seen all over the world. Kudos to the Akwa Ibom state govt for having 'sense'

Not everyone is broke and politician -dependent like you.

Like I said it is a white elephant project
Awka ibom is attracting oil and gas investors and the tourism opportunities with the rainforests and beaches is almost endless as well as that a lot of Nigerians will start moving there because if the quality if roads,he’s,th are and education they already attracted a European flour company and they also attracted a coconut refining company as well as pencil, toothpick and plywood companies so there is a point of having an airport built there the real white elephants are the airports in ebony and Abuja when you already have Enugu and owerri next door

Yeah so this shack or tiny house that they call terminal building is sufficient

There you go again making excuses for the non-performance of SE leaders, what did Stellah do when she was a minister of aviation under GEJ. The Akwa Ibom governor is not concerned with what the FG is doing or not doing, instead, he has leverage the state resources to attract needed foreign investors by building a state of the art airport.
.

I am not one to make excuses for malfeasance or nonfeasance. I don't have any skin in the game and have no axe to grind. I always call it as I see it and have blamed Southeast governors for failures to perform their obligations to the citizens of their various states. However, it is highly irresponsible when you knowingly absolve a person who is legally responsible for the performance of duty and put the onus on another.

The FG unlike in advanced democracies has taken on the responsibility of total control of the management of airports including revenues. Since they have taken on that role, it is incumbent upon them to build and maintain the airports. It can't shy away from its responsibilities and yet want to control the revenue generated. That's not how it works buddy!

Besides, you can't compare apples and oranges. Out of the 36 states in the country, two states from the east Enugu, and Anambra always rank in the top ten of the states that generate the most revenue for the FG but usually not in the top ten of the states that receive the most federal allocation.

So, to compare Akwa Ibom (one of the states that receives the most allocation) to Enugu State (that always ranks in the top ten of revenue generators but receives way less) is just being disingenuous. Like I stated in my previous comment, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you had no qualms that the FG built the airports mentioned in my prior comment, my goodness, you should stay true to your principle and have no issues when it comes to the Southeast. Enough said!

I've never designed a holistic air transportation policy, but it seems weird to acquire aircraft for Ibom Air before laying the foundations for facilities to be used by potential customers. Surely it should be the other way round ?

There's already an interim building on ground for some years now,
