Making the whole Lagos state clean seems like something impossible and even if it’s possible then it’s never going to be something he can achieve within a year in office, that place is too damn congested/overpopulated, lots of hoods and ghettos

Not too long ago, everywhere one turned to in Lagos, heaps of refuse stared at us. This was equally with their accompanying health hazard.

The situation was the result of the change in the method of refuse disposal in the State.

In 2016, Governor Akinwumi Ambode introduced the Cleaner Lagos Initiative. The intention was for a single company known as “Visionscape” to take over the residential waste collection from 350 PSP operators. Sadly, the transit from the PSP to Visionscape led to unimpressive waste management in the State.

However, shortly before Ambode’s departure from the seat of authority in the state, the Lagos State House of Assembly has ordered the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state to call on the Private Sector Partnership (PSP) operators in their areas to go back to refuse packing job with immediate effect.

Shortly, afterwards, there appeared to be some measure of improvement in waste management. Still, a whole lot more needed to be done.

Is waste management better in the last 6 months?

However, driving around town, one can still see heaps of refuse along major roads in the State. The drainage systems are no better. They are mostly filled with refuse.

Indeed, it is undeniable that waste management is better than before the PSP operators were recalled, which occurred last year. However, the improvement can be said to be only marginally better.

Is the current sanitary condition of Lagos State enough for the State Government to pat itself on its back for?

Or is the current administration in Lagos State operating on a relatively low standard as regards environmental sanitation?

Not until the govt comes up with a RECYCLING PLAN in order to give values to waste , people will keep disposing wastes carelessly even as Lagos population keeps increasing on hours basis.

Do people set out with the mindset that breakfast or Lunch will be Gala and a bottle of Fanta?

As long as trading on the roads continues, it will be difficult to make Lagos clean.

The buyers and the sellers of most of these consumable goods should be tackled in other to have a cleaner Lagos.

Government should do more too to clear dirts on a daily basis. Large garbage bins to be distributed round the city. Heavy fines should be imposed for littering.

People should have a change of mind. Cleanliness is a mindset thing. Once people have the right mindset, they can then own the city and ensure it is clean all the time.

Do you stay in better part of Lagos than I do ? I stay in Lekki Phase 1 and the place stinks all day ,..every evening I jog on Bourdillon and to falomo and back and must pass infront of Tinubus house and the Gutters there smell so bad ... Mention one place in Lagos that's clean abeg

Engage the youths, appoint them as littering officers..... Make an example of fly tippers (massive fine imposed)..... And watch the city, clean itself.........

Lagosians are the dirty. One place can be cleaned in minutes,in the next minute it will look as if it has not been cleaned.
Lagos state should orientate lagosians or make them comply by force.

Sanwolu needs a reality check and fast. He’s still in dream slumber from the election hype.
