you didn’t get it.

Sanusi is at crossroads here.

Accenting to the request on chairing the council means he has agreed to the creation of the new emirates

Not accenting brings about appointing a new chair to the council, leaving Sanusi to the back row. The respect and acknowledgement meant for him will definitely be directed to the appointed Chairman of the council (Emir of Bichi most likely).

The most intriguing thing he could have done is to abdicate the post.

But accepting the post seems better, Ganduje’s tenure ends in 2023. The next governor of the state may reverse this system introduced by Ganduje. Who gains?
Sanusi of course!

And if the next governor is on the same page with Ganduje?

Maybe his acceptance is cowardly, but he alone knows why he has chosen to accept. I suspect he's playing a tactical game with Ganduje. He may outlast him if he's tactical enough (Ganduje will not be governor forever, but if Sanusi plays his cards right, he may succeed in remaining on the throne till he draws his last breathe). Sometimes this sort of cowardice can be benefitial in the long run. Sanusi has always wanted to be Emir, and right now he's probably not willing to allow a Ganduje deprive him of his lifetime ambition.
God bless you people don't know that coin has two side!

to those of you criticising the emir for accepting the offer, just know that you know absolutely nothing that's going on with these guys, all you think you know are nothing but mere assumptions, sanusi must have weighed a lot of options before accepting it, he who wears the shoe knows were it itches, he's been there for years, he has seasoned advisers he pays that must have advised him on the best option so you can't be reading "news" on Nairaland and start thinking you know more than him.
thank u brother, they just idea at the corner typing what they don't no about, than what they read on niraland, not knowing that the Emira is more wiser than the govern and how to play his card, not all about collecting bribe on every project.

He didn't lose any respect. Just don't spit your gut out. Ganduje is doing everything within the ambit of law, Sanusi just need to stop being stubborn, simple as ABC. Local government council chairman is superior to any monarch in Nigeria not to talk of the governor. But I don't blame you, you hate Sanusi, you hate Ganduje and you don't know which side to take.

Ganduje has a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Ibadan. He was reported to have submitted an outstanding thesis towards his doctorate.. One should be careful not to underrate Ganduje. He is as well-read and scholarly as Emir Sanusi even though he is not half-as-fluent.

Ganduje may think Sanusi is weak but you see this life ehn... It's like a pendulum. What goes around, definitely comes around

A pendulum does not go round.
To and fro oscillatory movement, not rotational.
Each to and fro movement, that is one oscillation is assumed to be a complete circle, but it practically doesn't go round.

Ganduje is very much aware of what could be after his tenure expires, thus his statement that he'd received a letter from some vaporous CSOs asking for the emir to be dethroned.

I don't think sanusi will last up to 2023 except fate plays into his hands.

Racoon, you are VERY SMART! This same scenario happened under late Governor Abubakar Rimi of Kano against Emir Ado Bayero!

The Emir laughed last! Rimi lost his re-election, the new Governor (who defeated him), Sabo Barkin-Zuwo, nullified the illegal action taken by Rimi; and Ado Bayero retuned to the throne. And reigned for 50 years!

How did Rimi end? He lost every political relevance and died completely unsung!

Sanusi should endure the remaining 3 years of Ganduje's cursed (rigged-election) reign.

Ganduje, the USDollar-thieving rogue will be disgraced in the end...

Going by acquired degrees alone, Ganduje is more 'schooled' than Emir Sanusi. He holds an MPA degree from A.B.U and a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Ibadan (with an outstanding thesis). Emir Sanusi, on the other hand, possesses an MSc degree in Economics (A.B.U) and M.A in Islamic Law ( International University of Khartoum, Sudan).
