The same customs are involved in the border closure. A lot was going on in the past, but with present Govt good policy things are taking shape.

It is not good rating for the Customs that they could not do their jobs and check smuggling across borders until the borders were shut! It means they failed at their core statutory function which is to police the borders efficiently.

To treat a runny nose, you apply proper and efficient treatment and even preventive methods like daily vitamins, avoiding exposure to cold n dust, etc. You do not cut the nose off which is exactly what the border closure is. The borders have their positive effects but all are lost because irresponsible louts failed to work effectively until the borders were shut!

What will happen if the borders are reopened? Have u read or seen anywhere that FG is training its officials and deploying modern equipment and sufficient support to properly police the borders and beat corrupt practices when reopened? How certain are you that there are no clandestine rackets still happening on a regular basis just not at the previous levels?

FutureFocus:
we can not be subsidizing petrol for our neighboring countries , we are in pain already and we are even seeking foreign loans at the moment, the government should do more to block all these leakages and also look at the issue of illegal immigrants taking jobs meant for our people.

Nigeria population is a big market which is one of the indices that are necessary to boost it economy , it create huge market for local producers but that advantage and benefit has been taken away by our porous borders , making Nigeria a dumping ground for neighboring countries who imports all sort of junks and rubbishes from the rest of the world , bringing them by capitalizing on ECOWAS trade treaty , this is a huge problem to us.

we need to pay attention to basic things including border security .

Except the Senate is serious there will soon be no illegal immigrant to deal with as Buhari has declared free for all entry into Nigeria as per Big Brother Africa!

Imagine this.

Will the rogue marketers or their relatives/defendants ever say Buhari is doing anything good? Best believe they’d be part of those cursing Buhari day and night.

The income and survival of most Nigerians are built on or tied to corrupt proceeds either directly, indirectly or remotely. Buhari is blocking a lot of all those streams of incomes so I don’t expect anything but curses from those who benefit from such.

In the end Nigeria shall prevail.
God bless you my brother, we masses just don't want to accept it

It's not only the border closure that dropped the fuel consumption. The purchasing power of the people has equally dropped. You can do the research for yourself, check other businesses around you'll notice the low patronage.

So they don't want to open the border. And they expect fuel consumption to be high.

You know subsidy is still on.

They collect subsidy to sell to Nigerians then instead of selling to them they sell to Cameroon. Double money.

You sell 10 no of product at N100 for sale to your siblings, your dad paid you half each N50 for 10 products. But you sell only 3 to your siblings and sold the rest to your friends at N100.

So now you know.

You don't close your borders if customs are effective..........
It's not a good policy of government for its borders to be closed..........
OBJ was so frustrated by elements in the customs that he was once confessed that if it was possible to police the borders without the customs..........he would have done so.........

Hi fuel consumption leads to fuel scarcity. So the lesser the fuel consumption, the lesser the amount paid to subsidy.
